Sacramento Guided tours
Posted: Sat May 12, 2007 07:32 PM UTC
Do you have guided tours through the Capitol building in GERMAN on Saturdays?
If so, is it necessary to sign up?

There will be a group of 8 Germans visiting on Saturday, May 19th. Only one speaks English but she doesn't know the history of our glorious Capitol.

Anxiously awaiting your answer.

Posted: Mon October 30, 2006 05:55 AM UTC
Hi,
How do I get to downtown Sacramento from San Francisco Airport if I don't drive? Is there a coach I can take? Trains? What about cabs?

I am not american, and would probably get lost if I try to drive in the US.

Thanks for all advise.

Just wondering...Is Sacramento so dull that no one has any questions about it? Or, is it so well known that no one has any questions about it?

Sacramento Looking for an old friend from Sacramento/Carmichael area
Posted: Tue April 11, 2006 08:34 PM UTC
I have lost track of where my friend Alison Mc Manus lives. She got married maybe 10 years ago (or so) and her married name is Allen. Last address I had for her was in Davis. Her mom's name is Pat MC Manus, and I think her dad's name was Mike. She also has a brothers and sisters - Mike, Brian, Cindy, another sister, older. Can't remember her name. Thanks for any help.

Sacramento Roseville or Rocklin nightlife?
Posted: Sat March 4, 2006 05:04 PM UTC
My husband and I and another couple are going to dinner tonight at the new Melting Pot off Blue Oak in Rocklin. Are there any places near there to have a drink after? Something with live music maybe, kind of low key like jazz or blues? Thanks for any ideas!

Sacramento Roseville/Rocklin
Posted: Mon January 16, 2006 03:53 AM UTC
Hello,

I’ve got a job offer in the Roseville/Rocklin area and am looking for an apartment. I have checked websites like (apartmentratings.com) and have not had much luck locating something nice. Many of the apartment tenants reported crimes such as drugs and auto theft at many of the places there.

Can anyone recommend a decent place? I’m a single guy in need of a one bed one bath unit within a 30 minute commute of Roseville? I don’t mind paying a little extra but it must be in a clean, safe and respectable environment. My preference is for basic amenities such as off street parking, nearby laundromat and well maintained premises. I don’t need the pool or fitness center.

Thanks

Sacramento Highway 49 / Yosemite area
Posted: Sat September 10, 2005 04:36 PM UTC
Fiancee and I are consdiring last-minute changes to our plans, leaving the Sacramento area for LA via 49/99 instead of 5. So...

1) What is the most scenic part of 49?
2) Should we start in Placerville, or in Auburn? ( Auburn requires about 15 miles backtracking for us )
3 ) At what point should we leave 49 and cross over to 99? Mariposa? Oakhurst?

Any advice is welcome. We'll leave Monday morning. Thanks.

Fiance and I are planning to go rafting in September. Any comments/suggetsions are welcome. In particular: 1) Are there any rafting companies that you would recommend or not recommend? 2) What are the relative advantages of staying in Auburn vs Sacramento ( or any third place )?
Thanks

Sacramento Driving Sacramento Airport to Groveland?
Posted: Sat May 14, 2005 12:42 PM UTC
Hi Folks,

I'm from Australia and this trip to the USA will be the first time I have driven on the "wrong side" of the road (yes I know!!)

How hard will it be to drive from Sacramento Airport to get on the main road to Groveland (near Yosemite).

Then I have to come back from Groveland and get to Davis -

Are these routes likely to be well marked - any big surprise turns etc? I am going to be working hard to keep concentrating ("keep right, keep right")

Thanks for your help

Sacramento Sacramento hotels with good cable t.v.
Posted: Sat March 26, 2005 11:13 PM UTC
Does anyone know of a reasonably priced hotel in Sacramento that offers a lot of good cable stations? Many hotels seem to say "cable" but only offer a few basic channels. I'm especially interested in Animal planet, E!, A&E and Style and good networks. Anyone have any info? Thanks for the tip!

Sacramento Moving to California
Posted: Thu February 10, 2005 05:20 PM UTC
I am going to be relocating to California at the end of April. I have set my sights on Southern California such as San Diego, however I may have a possible job offer in Sacramento. I am not sure if Sacramento is really where I want to be. I would like to get some comparisons maybe from people who have lived both in North and South California. I wanted to stay South mainly because of the beaches, so is there any beach life within an hour or so of Sacramento? I know San Francisco is not too far, do people hang out at the beach in San Fran.? Any advice or information about Sacramento would be greatly appreciated.

Sacramento Barbecue Pork Pizza. Just a legend in the Western U.S.?
Posted: Sun November 21, 2004 02:06 AM UTC
In at least the southeast part of the U.S., Pizza Hut serves an awesome type of pizza known as Barbecue Pizza, but unlike most places, it's barbecue pork. Other pizza restaurants in Memphis also had this great pizza. However, when I've called pizza places out here in Sacto, they just act like I'm crazy (Pizza Hut included). Is there a pizza place that serves Barbecue Pork pizza out here? (NOT BBQ CHICKEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11)

Sacramento New Restaurants and Fresh Fruit?
Posted: Mon August 23, 2004 08:42 PM UTC
I'll be spending a couple of days in Sacramento in September. Any new restaurants (Chinese or Japanese especially) I should look into?

Also, I'm looking for reliable places to buy good fresh fruit. I'll be there during the week, so Denio's is out, and I won't have time to scour the countryside for fuit stands. (In my experience, grocery store fruit in Sacramento is about the same as grocery store fruit elsewhere.)

Sacramento Need an apartment near the 95825 zip code
Posted: Mon August 16, 2004 12:08 PM UTC
Hi,

I may be relocating to Sacramento in October of this year and am looking for a permanent apartment.

I've located a real-estate agency online that have a couple of apartments listed, and I'd like your opinions on these, as well as some other advice as to where I should live. I have absolutely *NO* experience on the West Coast; I've been in New York City for my entire 29 years.

Here are the two apartment locations with rent:

One is near 2000 - 2300 Northview Drive, 95833
$642 / Monthly

Another is around 2000 - 2300 Royale Road, 95815
$900 / Monthly

Are these good areas? By good I mean what type of people live there - Students, Families and single workers? Is it close to any type of public transportation? Are there stores and post offices nearby?

And my secondary question is what are other options that I have? I currently do not drive but if I need to get a car it would take a few months; I'd rather live close enough where there is some type of transit nearby or at least some type of car service.

Thanks so much for all of your help in advance!!!

Jeff
