I've only worked in LA proper but taking family to Oxnard, Santa Barbara, etc. I read about the great beaches....family friendly? Would love some feedback....thanks.

I am an Irish student, and nine of us were thinking of staying in the Oxnard/Ventura area for the summer. Was just wondering is this spot in anyway lively e.g good nightlife, things to do during the day?? Thanks!!...
