Los Angeles San Diego
Posted: Fri May 9, 2008 04:22 AM UTC
We are flying to Los Angeles, CA and then need to get to San Diego for a cruise and then return to L.A. for a flight home after the cruise. Is there a bus or some form of transportation you can take from the airport in L.A. to a hotel in San Diego? Are there hotels in San Diego that would offer transportation to a Holland America cruise ship?

Los Angeles 1st trip to Disneyland with an adult who has special needs
Posted: Thu May 8, 2008 09:27 PM UTC
Where is a good hotel that provides suite accomodations suitable for 3 adults? We would like to be near Disney, have a pool on the property, be near restaurants, and it would be a bonus if breakfast was included in the price of accomodations.
We'd like to stay somewhere nice...but not too expensive. We're planning on going in November.
Thanks in advance for any advice that anyone can give!

Los Angeles LAX to Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel
Posted: Mon May 5, 2008 08:19 PM UTC
Second question!! After I return my car to Hertz at LAX I need to get to the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Is it possible to do this easily by public transport (bus/metro) or would I be better getting a cab? If so, approx how much should I expect to pay?

Thanks again :)

Hi All,

Pls advise which is the most economical way to reach the hotel at Santa Monica from LAX. My friend and I will be in LA on memorial day itself, do you think transportation that day would be difficult ? Thanks.

Los Angeles Grade A, B on restaurants
Posted: Mon May 5, 2008 12:00 AM UTC
I was noticing in the windows in Los Angeles that most of the restaurants had a sign giving them a rating of "A" and wondered if anyone ate at restaurants that had a rating below A or one that didn't have a rating posted at all, I saw a few B ratings near the Grand Central Market in downtown LA. Is a B rating or a C rating the kiss of death? How often do they get rated? Every year? What exactly does a B or C mean?

Thanks for satisfying my curiousity!

Los Angeles How many days in LA?!
Posted: Sun May 4, 2008 07:52 PM UTC
My friend and I (both 20) are going to be traveling about california for 3 weeks. We have arranged to be in Las Vegas for 3 nights, then San Frncisco for 5 nights.

How long do you think we should spend in LA? We want to do all the big type things, although not too interested in the themeparks.

Should we choose to stay in maybe 2 different parts or shuld we just stay in the 1 and travel from there on day trips? We dont have a car so would need 2 b using public transport

Los Angeles Public Transport in LA
Posted: Tue April 29, 2008 08:21 AM UTC
Hi

I'm starting at job near west century blvd at aviation, near LAX shortly.
I'm going to be without a car for the first weeks, so need to set up residence somewhere with the best public transport links.

Was thinking of moving out to Redondo Beach & taking the Metro through.
Is this the best move?
Any other ideas??

I've heard a few horror stories about the reliability of public transport in LA. So any suggestions would really help me out.

thanks,
L

Los Angeles relatively inexpensive hotel near airport
Posted: Sat April 26, 2008 01:54 AM UTC
Because of a variety of factors, I may need to arrive at LAX between 11 and 12 -- and since I'm coming from the East Coast, it'll feel like closer to 3am to me. I plan on renting a car when in California, but I'd like to not have to wait around and fill out paperwork, then navigate my way to a hotel in an unfamiliar city when I'm half asleep -- if a car rental place is even open at that time. Does anyone know of a relatively cheap hotel (I recognize that this means anything under about $100 a night) with shuttle service from and then back to the airport? Should I just plan on taking a taxi somewhere?

Thanks for your help!

If we are taking Greyhound, where is the station located at ? We will be staying around santa monica, is it convenient ? Any information provded would be greatly appreciated.

Los Angeles Our First Time at LA
Posted: Tue April 22, 2008 02:26 AM UTC
Me escriben cualquier cosa!

Los Angeles Eco-friendly L.A.?
Posted: Mon April 21, 2008 09:29 PM UTC
Hi, Everyone,

It's VT staffer, Courtney, and I'm hoping you can help me with something we're working on for a possible press project. I'm trying to come up with some ideas for eco-friendly travel in and around L.A. Hotels, attractions, museums, tours--anyplace or thing that either helps educate the public about the environment, or makes a special effort to help protect it. I've got a few ideas (mostly parks and some resorts), but it's not my area of expertise, so I'm hoping our very eco-aware membership can give me some ideas.
As always, many, many thanks!

Los Angeles 2 Days In LA - Looking for Hotel
Posted: Sat April 19, 2008 10:04 PM UTC
Hi Everyone,
My daughter and I are going to be in LA for two day and don't know where to stay. we were thinking about staying somewhere in Hollywood, just because it seems fairly close to other attractions. Since we only have two days we figured we would do the Hollywood thing and Sunset Blvd the next day. I've been reading within the forum that certain areas are safer than others. So that's what we need help with. Our hotel preference would be someplace nice but not ritzy. And it would be nice if there is a shuttle to the airport. We can go as high as about 150.00 if we have too. Would love to go less but we're figuring if we pay more it might put us in a nice area. Don't know!
Can anyone help with suggestions?
Thank You All!!!

Los Angeles Good, the bad and the high life
Posted: Wed April 16, 2008 01:21 PM UTC
Me and my bro are planning on our first trip to LA as part of a recon to come out and stay for an extended period of time in the near future; travelling from England. Planning on spending 10 days there and are looking for the safest/best areas to get hotel accommodation. We have a reasonably healthy budget and don't want it to be a complete tourist experience but one where we can connect with the locals and get a flavour of what living out there would be like. Any suggestions to stay? I heard West LA/UCLA...Thanks

Los Angeles Inexpensive and safe accomodations
Posted: Fri April 11, 2008 05:56 AM UTC
Hi there, I'll be traveling to LA in July and need to find an inexpensive and safe hotel or motel near 6725 West sunset boulevard. I'm not familiar with that area so any help appreciated. If at all possible I can spend no more than $100.00 per night. Anything close to that area is fine as well. Thanks.

Los Angeles Transfer at LAX
Posted: Thu April 10, 2008 11:59 AM UTC
Hi all.
I am flying from LAX on an international flight and need to book a flight from Seattle to connect with it. I depart LA at 10:30pm on NZ. I just can't decide what flight to book! My options are as follows.
AS flight arriving LAX 5:45pm or one arriving at 6:40pm or UA flight arriving LAX at 6:20pm.
It is my understanding that AS will arrive to terminal 3, NZ departs from terminal 2. This looks close and I would be happy to walk, but I will have luggage. Alaska don't seem to have a baggage agreement with NZ.
UA do have a baggage agreement but I'm not sure if I can check my luggage through or not because of international customs. The dissadvantage of UA is it arrives in to Terminal 7 - much further away.
I would appreciate any advice. I realise all of these flights should technically give me enough time but I'm concerned that if there are delays I will forfeit my international flight. I have been through LAX before and found not much to do... so on the other hand I don't want to long sitting around. HELP???

Los Angeles 1st time to LA - places to visit
Posted: Tue April 8, 2008 10:22 PM UTC
I'm planning on a short trip to LA, just 2 days. what are the places that are a "can't miss" attraction. I'm not too crazy about the museums...:)
Till now I have:
1. Universal Studios
2. Hollywood Walk of Fame
3. Drive thru' Beeverly Hills & Hollywood (I'd like suggestions on which areas to drive by in both areas)
4. Any good beach in / near LA (Need suggestions here too :))

I'm sure there are many other interesting places, but don't know which ones. Are there any such that I'm missing out on?

Also, I have shortlisted two areas to stay
a. Econo Lodge in Hollywood on Vine st. (since it's close to Hollywood & of course, economical!!)
b. Hilton near Beverly Hills (depends on the deal I get here)

I'd like to know if the Econo Lodge location is a safe place, also, if anyone has any experiences please let me know.

Also which is a good restaurant near the Beverly Hills / Hollywood area.

All your suggestions are highly appreciated.

Posted: Tue April 8, 2008 07:31 PM UTC
Hi Everyone!
My daughter(28 yrs old)and I are going on a wedding cruise the end of May. The cruise port is in San Pedro. When we return from the cruise on friday we want to get to LA (but not rent a car). We are going to stay in LA for two days. Does anyone have any suggestions where to stay that is not to expensive but nice and that has transportation? and where to go? My daughter sort of wanted to go to Hollywood. But I've been reading some stuff about it not being that safe. So, kind of up in the air about what to do and where to go. Any suggestions?
Thanks
