Long Beach or Redondo Beach? Posted: Sat January 22, 2005 04:46 PM UTC
I will be moving to Southern California in May and will be working in Torrance. I know that Redondo Beach is closer to Torrance than Long Beach, however, which city would you suggest living in? (safety, food, apartments, etc). What are the advantages of either? I've never been out there before but will visit the first week in February. Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

Long Beach relocation Posted: Thu January 20, 2005 02:57 PM UTC
I'm a single mom of two boys looking to escape the cold winters of NYC and Southern California seems like a nice change. Only thing is, I don't know much about west coast living. I'm tossed between L.A and Long Beach. I was told LB may be better to raise a family, but I don't know the neighborhoods to avoid and which are better suited for kids. I think my major concern about California is all the talk about gang activity. Any advice would be greatly appreciated...Thanks!!!

long beach to duarte Posted: Sat December 11, 2004 02:12 AM UTC
Is car the only way to get to duarte from long beach area. Is there any light rail or public transportation.
I am a nurse in Ontario, Canada and I know Duarte has a Bone Marrow Transplant Unit. I am looking to relocate to California. I was interested in Long Beach because they have a decent public transporation system.
Does Long Beach have a Bone Marrow Transplant Unit for Adults within any of the hospitals. I can't find anything on the web. I know there is a pediatrics unit.

Anaheim 2 Long Beach Posted: Sun June 27, 2004 12:26 AM UTC
Anyone know how long a ride it would be from Howard Johnson in Anaheim (Harbor Blvd) to The Long Beach State Pyramid on a friday around noon. Mapquest says its only 18 miles and should take 20 minutes. For those who may have done this, is that realistic at all ? Txs, Pete

Flying back from Long Beach Posted: Fri June 25, 2004 11:20 AM UTC
So far, Long Beach is only on my list as airport - flying back to New York in the final week of my time in the USA
but, maybe there's more to do there for a 21 year old? night life, beach, etc? does long beach have any (decent) hostels? or otherwise a cheap, decent hotel?

Belmont Shore - Long Beach CA "place to stay" Posted: Thu June 3, 2004 12:25 AM UTC
My parents are staying in Long Beach for 1 night only. They were recommended to stay at Belmont shore, but I can't find any hotels at Belmont on the internet.
Is there any recommended reasonably priced hotels/motels etc. in a safe area at or near Belmont Shore?
Does anyone know what the Belmont Shore Motel on Ocean Bld is like?
Any help would be appreciated.

Vacation @ Long Beach Posted: Thu May 20, 2004 09:15 AM UTC
Hi,
I am coming to Long Beach at the end of June and I would like to hear tips where to stay and what to do. Already I wanna thank jenn_D who provided me a good background information about the location.
I am not so much looking for a party time etc. just relaxing and enjoying the sun, so I rather stay @ Long Beach itself instead of LA. I'm going to spend some of the days alone, so is there something fun (and safe) to do alone in the evenings?
I'd be so greateful for anykind of infromation. Thank You already:)

Long Beach VT Meeting Posted: Mon March 24, 2003 07:15 PM UTC
Dion and I would like to thank Jenn_d for the great evening had by all last night. She organized a great evening in a very nice place to eat (The Crab Pot). Also thanks to the VT crew for showing up (except JR), you all are a good laugh.
To all the fellow VTers that showed up ... it was very nice to meet you all and we need to do this again soon.
Thanks again Jenn_d, you did a GREAT job.

Private Boater Needed Posted: Wed November 27, 2002 04:25 AM UTC
My wife and I fly into Long Beach on our way to Catalina Island on January 8. Unfortuately, we get in about the same that as the last commercial boat to Catalina leaves.
I am hoping to hire a private boater to take us over to Catalina, leaving Long Beach at about 6:30 PM. Does your organization know anyone who would be willing to do this?
Thanks for your help.
