Posted: Tue June 30, 2009 08:18 PM UTC
heading to berlin on aug 6 for 5 or 6 days. will be staying at the st.christopher's apartment (39-41 rosa luxemburg str). is this a good area? any recommendations on good restaurants or brewpubs in the area? i haven't been to berlin for about 30 years, so i am completely unfamiliar with the city as it is now. we are interested in cozy german-style restaurants, not anything hip or trendy. thanks for any help!! susan

Berlin Boat trip from Potsdam to Berlin?
Posted: Tue June 23, 2009 08:11 PM UTC
We are leaving for Berlin next week and we have started to discuss what to do. One of the ideas is a daytrip to Potsdam and a boat trip back to Berlin in the evening, but I have not found any boats from Potsdam to Berlin. Does anyone know if there are such boats? I have been looking around and found one boat from Wannsee to Berlin. Does anyone know if the boat is within walking distance from the S-Bahnhof in Wannsee? I would be happy for all tips!

Berlin Football in Berlin
Posted: Thu June 18, 2009 03:12 PM UTC
Hi where in Berlin the weekend of the 28th of August.
Was wondering when the fixtures are announced for the bundesliga?
Would like to go and watch Herta at the olympiastadion if possible.

If Herta are away, whats the deal with the other local teams? I support a third division team in England so it dosent have to be the glamour of the top league.

Ive googled Union Berlin would you say there the next best??

Hi!
We are going to Berlin on Tuesday and will stay there untill Saturday. My husband has heard (I´m not sure from whom) that there is a restaurant in Berlin where you pay for the food as much as you think it worth. Have anyone heard about such place? Does it really exist? And in this case, where is it located?

Berlin Oberbaumbrücke - how far is the walk there?
Posted: Fri May 29, 2009 08:18 AM UTC
I just read a very interesting tip by Sissi (Kakapo2) about the Oberbaumbrücke in Berlin. The closest S-Bahn stop is Schlesisches Tor. How far is it to walk from there?
I should have read her page earlier, as I'm leaving tonight, but maybe I'm lucky and someone from Berlin can answer my question. I'm going with my mother and she has problems walking.
Thanks in advance.

Berlin Check Point Charlie Museum
Posted: Sat May 23, 2009 02:59 PM UTC
Most of the comments made regarding this sight and the musuem
mention there are too many people there to appreciate it.

What if these sights were visited very early in the morning or late
in the evening? Is it still overcrowded then for viewing and is the
line to the musuem still long?

Berlin Recommendations for vacation in Germany
Posted: Fri May 22, 2009 12:26 PM UTC
Friends,
I need your recommendations and advice for vacation in Germany. We are coming in August to Berlin with the kids 13, 3.5, 1.5 years old. We are staying in Germany for 2.5 weeks.
We'd like to stay in some countryside place in a small house / zimmer close to river or lake.
To be located in the area with a different short track (1 - 3 days) or bike rides or canoe trips. Forest, mushrooms, berries, fishing.
Would be great to visit couple children parks / attractions, may be see some castles or nice small towns.
But the accent is on the active nature vacation.
Who can recommend a place fits or close to what I've described. I prefer that it would be close enough to Berlin, but if it worth it is possible to drive to another part of Germany.
I will be very appreciate your advices and personal experience.

Thanks!!!

I read about this Happy-Weekend-Ticket on DB's site but i am not sure i fully understood the meaning. So, can i buy one of those tickets and have a day trip to wherever (in Germany) i wish with my husband? With just one ticket?
We are visiting Berlin in August 2009 for 10 days and would really enjoy having day trips to the nearest cities or villages. Any suggestion is more than welcome.

Thank you.

Berlin What Berliners wear...
Posted: Mon May 11, 2009 08:46 PM UTC
hi there - i'm coming from NYC - where anything really goes re: what people wear.

i'm visiting berlin for the first time in a week and saw that the forecast shows it'll be VERY HOT during the day in berlin! in nyc, people literally stop wearing clothes when it's that hot...same in berlin? of course, i don't plan to wear skimpy clothes, but will wearing flip-flops be accepted? i know that in europe people dress a bit more conservatively. please let me know if wearing flip flops would be offensive to cafes, restaurants, museums, etc.

thanks!
