Sedona Hotel or B&B close to Bell Rock
Posted: Tue July 1, 2008 10:15 AM UTC
Are there any nice hotels or B&Bs in Sedona (not on the Oak Creek Village side) within walking distance of Bell Rock or with Bell Rock view???

I will be staying in Sedona in September for one month and I'd like to stay close to my Number One mountain. I already know Poco Diablo Resort, Amara Resort, Enchantment Resort and Inn on Oak Creek - all wonderful, but too far away from Bell Rock.

Thanks a lot in advance!

Sedona Tips on Pheonix-Sedona-Flagstaff
Posted: Mon June 30, 2008 07:52 PM UTC
I have to be in Flagstaff from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM 5 weekdays (next week). My plan is to arrive in Pheonix Sat. at 8:00 AM. Rent a car for a week. Stay in Sedona, at Amara resort. Commute to Flagstaff 5 days, and back to Pheonix airport the following Friday. In addition to the Grand Canyon, I am interested in hot springs.

I have no idea about Amara resort, I only saw a nice picture. Any tips and advice will be appreciated. I have to eat lunch in Flagstaff near the University. Thanks.

Sedona Odd request -- snake meat
Posted: Tue May 13, 2008 12:25 PM UTC
Hi,

Last year when we visited Sedona we had a nice dinner in the Cowboy club and that's when I first tasted rattlesnake meat. I have been doing some research and it appears frozen snake meat is being sold all over the southwest, but not in your average food shop. It got me thinking, the Cowboy club most likely gets it's snake meat locally so I was wondering if anyone knows possible vendors?

Thanks in advance!

Sedona Expert Advice Needed - Itinerary Planning
Posted: Fri May 2, 2008 02:58 AM UTC
Hello!

I am planning a trip for 4 people (including myself). We are all in our 20's and very excited as this is a much needed vaca for hard working NYC professionals! =)

I have done a significant amount of research on the forums and on the internet as well. I have specific places and experiences I would like to plan out but I am having some trouble in terms of time planning and efficiency of sightseeing. Basically, I want what anyone wants... to be able to see as much as I can in two days and get the most of the time I have in Sedona. So, any advice will be much appreciated. Here are some of the facts.

Coming from : Las Vegas (3 days), stop at GC staying in Flagstaff that night. Driving early morning 5/19 to Sedona, start 6 am.

Dates in Sedona : 2 full days : 5/19-5/20, leaving morning of 5/21 driving to Phoenix Airport.

Hotel : Orchard Inn

My general ideas for the itinerary is as follows:

1st Day : We are scheduled to arrive at Sedona at around 8:30 am from Flagstaff, which I know is about 119 miles away, approx. 2 hours 19 mins drive. I would like to see as many of the sites of interest before our scheduled Pink Jeep Tour at 4pm/5pm.

2nd Day : Since we are driving to Phoenix early the following day for our flight, I would like the second day to be a little less hectic. I was planning on dedicating this day to wandering around town, some driving around and a little shopping. I am considering an early morning hike and returning to the hotel to get changed to walk around/shop and later have dinner at the Cowboy Club. I am aware that some of the shops close early (i.e. Tlaquepaque at 5pm, Gallery Row before 7 pm). So, ideally, I would like to be out of the hotel at around 1 pm.

1st Day – Stops along 89A to 179.
- Stop Over at Oak Creek Vista (necessary???)
- Oak Creek Canyon (driving through on 89A?)
- Stop at Grasshopper Point
- Drop off luggage at Orchard Inn
- Stop at Coffee Pot to have brunch/lunch
- Airport Mesa (light hike)
- Drive SE to Chapel of Holy Cross
- Drive to see Bell Rock
- Can I see Cathedral Rock by driving from Bell Rock????
- Drive back up north for Pink Jeep Tour (Broken Arrow) at 4 or 5 pm

Major Question : Is this feasible???

2nd Day – Western Sedona
- Chimney Rock
- Hike an easy trail that doesn’t take too long and will allow us to see something different than what we saw the day before. From my research, I have read mention of Fay Canyon, Margs Draw Trail, Red Rock State Park Trail(s), Bell Rock Pathway. I am questioning Bell Rock Pathway and Margs Draw Trail since both are not in proximity to Chimney Rock.
- Get back to hotel to shower and change
- Tlaquepaque, Gallery Row
- Wandering around town, any suggestions for quaint walks, areas??
- Dinner at Cowboy Club

Can I fit in any of the following????
- Montezuma's Castle
- Tuzigoot National Monument
- Schnebly Hill Road and Vista

I know this is a lot of information. But, I would appreciate any advice.

Thank you in advance!!

Sedona Where is that cool swimming hole?
Posted: Wed May 2, 2007 12:44 PM UTC
When we visited back in 04 we went to a secluded very cold swimming hole where people would climb up the rocks on the opposite side and then jump down into the icy water. I think it was somewhere close to Sedona on the road between Sedona and Flagstaff. Now my brother is planning on a trip and I want to help him find that spot.

Sedona Jeep Tour and Bad Back??
Posted: Fri January 26, 2007 09:15 PM UTC
I was recently told by a friend that I should probably not take a jeep tour when I visit Sedona. He said that because I have a bad back due to Arthritis all the bouncing would probably be painful.

Are thay really that bad?? So many people have posted here that they have done them, and some are elderly. I'm not elderly, but too much bouncing out of my seat and slamming back down in it would probably hurt me.

So what do you all think??

Peace,
Rainy

Sedona Locals bar
Posted: Tue January 23, 2007 09:34 PM UTC
Hey all,

I will be in Sedona for a few days in March to do some hiking and spend time with a friend. We are looking for a laid back non-touristy bar or pub where locals go. I really don't like pretentious tourists and seem to find them everywhere I go. Trying not to generalize here, but would love some help from a local to the area. Also don't mind leaving Sedona to go to such a place as we always have a non-drinker with us. Thanks.

peace & love

Sedona Where to stay for a 65th birthday celebration
Posted: Sat November 4, 2006 03:09 PM UTC
My sisters and I are taking my mom to Sedona for her 65th birthday. There will be 6 of us total and we are looking for a place with at least a kitchette so we don't have to eat out for all the meals. I was thinking about a condo rental or timeshare. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Or areas of town

Sedona Christmas in Sedona
Posted: Fri October 27, 2006 07:02 AM UTC
My family and I will be spending December 23-28th in Sedona this year. I am hoping some of you will have suggestions about Christmassy things to do. We are going to check out the Red Rock Fantasy and so far that's it. We have a place to eat and spend Christmas day, but I would like to know if there are any places to hear carolling or see Christmas music performed. Also, is there anywhere that gives a lovely Christmas Eve/day service? Is there anything special at the Chapel of the Holy Cross? Thanks a lot for any tips you can share.

Sedona Church of the Holy Cross
Posted: Mon October 9, 2006 12:04 AM UTC
I recently visited this beautiful church nestled in the red hills of Sedona. Outside the church was a piece written by the woman who designed the church and dedicated it to her parents. It was a lovely description and I would like to get a copy of her words. Do you know of any books or pamphlets that would contain her words?

Thanks

Hi, last week I heard on the news that there was a big fire that started in a camp site north of Sedona and they had closed off Hwy 89A. Does anyone know if they were able to put the fire out? I'll be headed that way next week...
