Phoenix Scottsdale Park Suites
Posted: Mon February 5, 2007 12:41 AM UTC
In an area where many hotels seem to be 200+ per night, they are offering a king with full kitchen for 102. It seems almost too good to be true.
Has anybody had any problems with them? Noise? Maintainence?
Thanks.

Phoenix Car hire/Super8 in Phoenix
Posted: Thu February 1, 2007 08:58 AM UTC
Hi, i am thinking of using this Motel,
Super 8 Motel -
Phoenix Airport Downtown
3401 E Van Buren.
Anyone have experience of this establishment ?
Also they have "Arizona leasing" car hire on site which looks very convenient, are they any better / worse than the big names in car hire ?
Any comments welcome,
Thanks in advance.

Phoenix Road Trip
Posted: Wed January 24, 2007 12:41 PM UTC
I am flying into Phoenix in March and plan on driving to Sedona for a few days then on to the GC. I know there is a very basic way to get from Phoenix to Sedona and so on. I was wondering if anyone know a different and more scenic, historical, or just fun way to get there. I have no issue taking a longer route, I just want to see as much as I can. Or maybe someone can suggest some places to stop and check out on the standard route. Looking for the same stuff when leaving Sedona and heading to GC.

I really appreciate any help at all.

Phoenix Is there accommodation for hikers near mountains?
Posted: Sat January 6, 2007 09:31 AM UTC
Hi,
We are a group of 8 hikers coming from UK to visit AZ in April 07. We would like to get accommodation close to good hiking area. In Europe we would use youth hostels or mountain huts. That would be a room or two with bunk beds (say 4-6 beds per room). I don't know what would be the equivalent in the States.
The Superstition Mtn area looks amazing but we are flexible. We will have a couple of saloon cars rented from Phoenix Apt.
I'd be really grateful for any tips.
Many thanks

We were planning a trip to the area around Phoenix and would like to know when the best time to see the cactus in bloom would be. We understand it is beautiful and one of the must see things we want to do.

Phoenix Waiting near the airport
Posted: Wed December 27, 2006 06:40 AM UTC
I am meeting my husband in Phoenix - he is driving and I am flying. I will arrive at the airport well before him. I would prefer not to wait in the airport. Is there somewhere else nearby I could wait? I won't have luggage so walking quite a ways is not a problem.

Thanks in advance for you advice.

I am driving to GC during the holidays and just figured out it is snowing there. But I dont know how much snow will be accumulated on the roads.
My question is, do I need an 4WD or snow chains for this trip?

Thanks.

Phoenix 5-1/2 hr layover at PHX on Dec 25
Posted: Mon November 20, 2006 12:55 AM UTC
Everything might be closed but I don't want to wait in the airport that long. I would be happy to just walk outside someplace if it's not raining. I am on a budget so I prefer not to use a taxi. I arrive at PHX at 6:13pm and depart at 11:45 pm. What could I see???

I will be riding from Las Vegas to Phoenix in November on a motorcycle and would like to know what temperatures to expect at that time of year. I have only been to Las Vegas once in February and got out as far as the Hoover Damn which was awesome.

Phoenix Budget accomodation near bus route
Posted: Fri August 25, 2006 03:58 AM UTC

I am considering taking the Red Line-Metro Center bus to Phoenix Sky Harbor Intl. Airport. Which lower end hotel/motel/hostel is closer to the bus route for this purpose and in general terms of getting around without a car? (I've heard the taxi rates are high and I travel really light). Thanks.

Phoenix tv
Posted: Mon July 17, 2006 07:28 PM UTC
Hi everyone!

I'm looking for a real phoenix local to give me the inside tips for a tv show I'm are hoping to tape in arizona. I'm trying to find a location for a segment I'm doing on what you need to do to plan a successful road trip.

Ideally, the best place for this would be something with an iconic southwest look to it - highway through the desert or maybe a clay-roofed retro spot with a local charming gas station or something with a beautiful view that showcases the area.

DOes anyone have any ideas? I've called tourism boards, but thought anyone who lives in Phoenix probably knows the best places!

Thanks -

Phoenix Is it true that the outdoor swimming pools are closed in the summer?
Posted: Thu June 22, 2006 04:06 PM UTC
Hi

I'm going to Phoenix-Mesa from July 6-11 for a conference at the Holiday Inn in Mesa. They only have an outdoor pool, and I was told by another Canadian who travelled to Phoenix in the past that many swimming pools are closed in the summer because they are simply too hot to swim in. Is this true?

Phoenix First time in Phoenix
Posted: Tue June 20, 2006 09:41 AM UTC
My family and I (16 year old daughter) are coming to Phoenix on July 4th.. We are staying downtown at the Amerisuites hotel.. Firstly, has anyone ever stayed there and secondly if you were a tourist and just checked into this hotel and have a rental car what would be some of the places that you would NOT want to miss...? We are going to be there for 3 days and really have no itenirary planned as of yet.. I know that we want to go to Tuscon and Scottsdale because they are a short distance. Any other ideas? I will take any advice on the heat as well.. Thanks..

Phoenix Special Occassion Brunch
Posted: Fri June 2, 2006 11:00 PM UTC
I'm visiting my mom in Phoenix for her birthday in early July and am trying to find a nice, good place for brunch. I'd prefer good ambience AND good food.

Basis New American Restaurant has some good reviews online but none of them are newer than 2004 and I can't find a website. Is this restaurant still around? Is it still good?

Has anyone been to the Wrigley Mansion restaurant?

Any other suggestions?

bonus question: does anyone in Phoenix know of a place open for pedicures on Sunday (other than the resorts - too $$$). :)

Thanks!

Thanks for the info on Gold Canyon AZ. We will be coming to Chandler but hubby will be busy all day. How far from Phoenix is Chandler? Is there anything around Chandler to occupy my time? How about shopping, museums, etc? How terribly hot is the area in October? Thanks for the info!

Phoenix Phx arrival info needed please!!

We arrive from London into Phx at 16:30 on Thursday. Can anyone advise how long it may take for us to clear immigration( we're British ), get cases and pick up a rental car? I have heard that luggage retrieval tends to be a bit slow. Thanks all.

Phoenix Crime in Tempe?
Posted: Sun May 7, 2006 12:12 AM UTC
Hello all -

I'm going to be moving to Tempe at the end of the summer. For commuting reasons, I'll be near ASU's campus. I've heard conflicting reports about the crime rate in Tempe - some say it's one of the safer parts of Phoenix, others say it's not.
Are there parts of town that I should avoid? Are there apartment complexes near campus that I should avoid?
Are there parts of the greater Phoenix area that I shouldn't visit?

Thanks! :)
