Tempe Fantasy of Lights Parade Posted: Tue November 20, 2007 03:23 AM UTC
Can someone who's been there before tell me how early to show up to the Fantasy of Lights Parade if you want to snag a spot in front so you can see? The parade supposedly starts at 6:00. I have an 8 month old so I don't want to camp out there any longer than necessary.
Thanks!

Does the Sky Harbor International Airport have parking for motorhomes or trucks pulling trailers? If so where?

AZ Cardinals Posted: Fri August 24, 2007 11:49 PM UTC
I am staying in Scottsdale in September and was hoping to catch a football game during my visit. I am ok getting a ticket but I will not have a car, as i can't drive - would a taxi be expensive from Scottsdale to Uni of Phoenix stadium or does anyone have any suggestions for a way to get out there and back that is safe and reliable?
Thanks, whenever I visit USA I always try to watch some of your sports, but I think maybe this one is just too far away (sob).

Alternatives to dance-clubs Posted: Fri August 17, 2007 05:07 PM UTC
A friend really wants to take me out for some Phoenix nightlife, most likely near her apartment in Tempe. Since I'm going to be fairly low on cash and I'm not really big on dancing, I'm avoiding doing the whole dance-club thing. Is there any place that has good cheap Indie rock, a positive and laid back vibe, cheap drinks, and is not sketchy ( I have heard some of the punk clubs are located in places you don't want to drive/park)?
My only regulations are that it be the kinda place a 21 yr old won't get bored as well ( I'm 27 and far from my college party, but she's 21 and likes to party).

Shuttle Service from Sky Harbor Posted: Sat August 11, 2007 03:37 AM UTC
I'm arriving in Sky Harbor at around 7:30pm. I may need to take a shuttle from there to Prescott. I'm thinking of taking Shuttle U, but what are my other options and how do they compare in price and route? I just want to make sure I get to Prescott without much hassle and without too much expense.

How important is it to have pre-made reservations for a Saturday night hotel stay? We'll be ariving Sept 22nd and need a place for only overnight. Is this "high season"? Should I make arangements or just drive and find a place?

Phoenix in September Posted: Fri June 22, 2007 03:28 PM UTC
We fly into the Phoenix airport at the end of September and thought about driving up to Sedona for a day or two before settling into our hotel in Phoenix. How long of a drive might this be? 2 hours or more? Is it really worth visiting Sedona or is it pretty much the same as Phoenix? Last year we visited all the surrounding areas in Phoenix and we've heard that Sedona is somewhat different from Phoenix. Thanks for the info. Cheryl

Hotel Recommendation Please- maybe by airport Posted: Mon May 7, 2007 03:46 PM UTC
Hello, Wife and I will be flying out of Phoenix after a week of hiking in Az!! Flight is early Sunday so we were going to drive in Sat night and stay at a hotel. The couple of Motel 6 reviews I've read are quite bad. Do you guys have any recommendations for a hotel kinda near the airport that is clean quite and cheap (maybe asking for too much:)? Thanks in advance, Cory

Restaurant near the Botanical Garden? Posted: Sat May 5, 2007 09:58 AM UTC
Forgive me if I'm mis-posting (perhaps this should go to a Scottsdale forum?) -
I'll be in Phoenix (primarily Scottsdale area) May 14-17 on business and am hoping to use public transit and hotel shuttles if possible to cut costs and lessen the ol' carbon footprint. Am hoping to go to the Botanical Garden one evening by shuttle and take the bus back (McDowell route?).
Two questions:
1) Anyone know how late the McDowell line runs? I'd thought from looking quickly at the bus website that they ran until 9, but someone posted on VT that they may only run until 7 in the suburbs. Not sure which category this would be in...Anybody know off-hand? If not, I'll make sure I find out before getting stranded.
2) Any recommendations for a low/moderate, fairly casual restaurant I could catch to the north or within 1-2 miles east on McDowell?
Thanks!
Julie

No Disable shuddle services Posted: Fri March 16, 2007 08:17 AM UTC
Why don't you have any kind of disable shuddle services to places in Sedona Az. Sedona hotels does not provide these kind of services for the disable, at least not from the airport. This is hard for disable people who want to see this beautiful part of your state with no help.
Thank you

Scottsdale Park Suites Posted: Mon February 5, 2007 01:41 AM UTC
In an area where many hotels seem to be 200+ per night, they are offering a king with full kitchen for 102. It seems almost too good to be true.
Has anybody had any problems with them? Noise? Maintainence?
Thanks.

Car hire/Super8 in Phoenix Posted: Thu February 1, 2007 09:58 AM UTC
Hi, i am thinking of using this Motel,
Super 8 Motel -
Phoenix Airport Downtown
3401 E Van Buren.
Anyone have experience of this establishment ?
Also they have "Arizona leasing" car hire on site which looks very convenient, are they any better / worse than the big names in car hire ?
Any comments welcome,
Thanks in advance.

Road Trip Posted: Wed January 24, 2007 01:41 PM UTC
I am flying into Phoenix in March and plan on driving to Sedona for a few days then on to the GC. I know there is a very basic way to get from Phoenix to Sedona and so on. I was wondering if anyone know a different and more scenic, historical, or just fun way to get there. I have no issue taking a longer route, I just want to see as much as I can. Or maybe someone can suggest some places to stop and check out on the standard route. Looking for the same stuff when leaving Sedona and heading to GC.
I really appreciate any help at all.
Peace & Love

Is there accommodation for hikers near mountains? Posted: Sat January 6, 2007 10:31 AM UTC
Hi,
We are a group of 8 hikers coming from UK to visit AZ in April 07. We would like to get accommodation close to good hiking area. In Europe we would use youth hostels or mountain huts. That would be a room or two with bunk beds (say 4-6 beds per room). I don't know what would be the equivalent in the States.
The Superstition Mtn area looks amazing but we are flexible. We will have a couple of saloon cars rented from Phoenix Apt.
I'd be really grateful for any tips.
Many thanks

Waiting near the airport Posted: Wed December 27, 2006 07:40 AM UTC
I am meeting my husband in Phoenix - he is driving and I am flying. I will arrive at the airport well before him. I would prefer not to wait in the airport. Is there somewhere else nearby I could wait? I won't have luggage so walking quite a ways is not a problem.
Thanks in advance for you advice.

Everything might be closed but I don't want to wait in the airport that long. I would be happy to just walk outside someplace if it's not raining. I am on a budget so I prefer not to use a taxi. I arrive at PHX at 6:13pm and depart at 11:45 pm. What could I see???
