Visiting with no car Posted: Tue July 14, 2009 07:46 PM UTC
What are your suggestions for places to visit for someone who has no car and relies on public transport? Are there many places of attraction that are easy to get to? Also, I would like any recommendations of anyone's favourite places to visit, acommodation and eating, as I am a student so need to keep costs to a minimum.
Thanks,
Kirsty

long term car rental suggestions please Posted: Wed May 27, 2009 01:41 PM UTC
Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone can direct me to a company offering long term (10 weeks) car rentals in Phoenix that would be less than the rates offered by the major car rental companies?
I know that in europe I have done the buy back long term rentals and that is a much better deal than the regular rental rates, but I am unaware of anyone offering such a thing in the USA.
All suggestions would be most appreciated.
Jim

VT meeting in Phoenix, Arizona Posted: Sun March 8, 2009 07:32 PM UTC
The success of my VT meeting in Paris on 2/21/09 was due mostly to the good company of the VT members in France but also due to having the best location (restaurant. (The restaurant owner continued to open his restaurant to accommodate us as we waited for one VT member coming from Vienna!)
Now, here's my question. Do you know a good restaurant in Phoenix, Arizona that is really good? Should be good for excited VT members who tend to be loud when they meet other VT members.
I appreciate your help...

Phoenix question Posted: Fri January 16, 2009 10:41 PM UTC
Hi everyone,
I am planning a trip to Phoenix/Sedona/Scottsdale for about 4-5 days (first week of Feb). I have done some research as to what to do and where to stay but it seems that I am not really finding things that spark my interest. And, I can't find any hostels or lower end hotels. So my questions are: 1) what are the must do/see/visit around the area? 2) How easy is it to get around without a car? I guess I could rent a car if I must. I'm open for it. Would you guys help me out? Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance

Best Phoenix Restaurants Posted: Mon January 5, 2009 01:39 AM UTC
I'm traveling to Phoenix next week for the Imaging USA conference- Would like some suggestions on unique fun restaurants with good food of course!
Would like suggestions for Mexican, Sushi, Italian, and any other restaurant that shouldn't be missed while we are there. I always enjoy restaurants that aren't considered chains, don't really want to eat somewhere that I can eat at the same place here at home!

Hi all:
I'm going to be in Phoenix/Scottsdale the first weekend in November. I will have a 3 year old with me and am looking for some fun activities to keep him entertained.
Hopefully some of y'all will have some good advice for some fun activities.
Also, are there any fun kid friendly restaurants in the area?
Thanks!

trees & colours Posted: Tue September 30, 2008 01:17 PM UTC
Hi,
This may be a silly question ...Will be travelling from Las Vegas to Sedona to Phoenix Late October, early November. What will the trees and colours be like.Hoping for some colour still for pictures. Here in Canada they are changing already and will be gone in a couple of weeks. Is there a big difference from Las Vegas to Phoenix?

Is the Legacy resort a good choice? Posted: Mon September 22, 2008 06:03 PM UTC
Hi,
Travelling from Las Vegas to Phoenix. Spending 3 nights in Phoenix before flying back home to Canada. Have checked out several resorts; Legacy, Arizona golf resort and Westgate painted mountain. Am leaning towards The Legacy, however am a bit leary as I read some of the reviews about the rough neighbourhood. (As we are total country bumpkins!!) Is it that bad? So, any advice would be welcome , also any info about how to spend our time. We are thinking of the Apache Trail tour, maybe horseback riding, and some golf. Are there any must sees?
Thanks
Harriet

What Phoenix Hotel and its Pools, Water Slides, etc. for kids 6 to 14? Posted: Mon July 21, 2008 07:10 PM UTC
We have five grandchidren, ages 6-14, who have had a ball at the Hilton Waikoloa in the past. However, we are considering taking them to Phoenix in April 2009. Since it would be after having loved the Waikoloa Hilton, its slides and lagoon with kayaks, water bikes, etc., our principal concern is the pools and water play possibilities. Of course, the overall hotel for kids is important. They can all swim, love slides, boogie boarding, all water play. Miniature golf, etc. could be fun too, but not if water play is not tops. Where do we stay in Phoenix area - or Tucson?

1st night accomodation Posted: Wed July 9, 2008 11:15 PM UTC
Hi VT'ers
I'm hoping to fly into Phoenix early November but the flight is not due in until about 8.45pm so after leaving the UK 16 hours or so earlier and by the time I collect bags etc I won't want to go much further (I'm probably going to be travelling alone this time as well). Are there any hotels on the airport surrounds and will I be able to collect my hire car next morning when I am feeling a little more with it and in daylight?
Alternately can you recommend an easy to find motel I could drive to?
ps heading south next day so prefer to be in that direction.

Best Area to Stay the Night Posted: Sun July 6, 2008 07:40 PM UTC
Hi All,
A friend and I will be stopping by Phoenix for a night and I was wondering what area is best and safest to stay in. We'd like to stay in an area with good cheap bars within walking distance. I was looking at hotels in Cooper Square around Central and Van Bueren or further up Central/7th and closer to Roosevelt?? What areas do ya'll recommend? Thanks.

salt river water temp May 31 Posted: Wed May 28, 2008 06:27 AM UTC
Just wondering what the water temp might be if we go tubing down the salt river this saturday, may 31. tried to find info on other sites and couldn't. i really don't want to go if the water is going to basically the snow run-off from flag. have rafted a lot in durango and if the water is ice cold, to me at least, it takes the fun out of the trip no matter what the outside temp is. guess age is getting to me. thx, patty kaufman

I have to return my rental car at the Rental Car Center of the airport (located at 1805 E. Sky Harbor Circle South) and need to fill the tank before I return it to avoid a huge gas bill.
Is there a gas station close to the Rental Car Center.(I'm with Hertz) ??

Driving to Sky Harbor Airport....... Posted: Wed April 16, 2008 05:52 AM UTC
I'll be driving from the Grand Canyon to Sky Harbor Airport to board a 10:30pm domestic flight on Delta.
My wife and I would like to find out where will be a convenient place for dinner (it will be great if the place has food variety and not out of the way to the airport).
We intend to set off at 3:00PM from Grand Canyon South Rim, arriving in Phoenix 7:00PM, leaving us with enough time for dinner before heading to the Sky Harbor Airport. I understand we need to be at the airport by 8:30PM.
Is the set-off comfortable?
Where would be a good place for dinner with food variety?
What about at the airport? Are there restaurants that serve decently priced food?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Daily / Weekly Rental Accommodations in Phoenix and surrounding area Posted: Tue February 26, 2008 01:32 AM UTC
Do you know of a reputable agency (or individual) that handles short term rentals by the day or week? Areas of interest: Chandler, Scottsdale, Sun Lakes, Maricopa, and Casa Grande. Next to a golf course would be nice. Require Mar 6 to Mar 12/08.
