Grand Canyon National Park 1 week adventure
Posted: Wed July 16, 2008 04:53 PM UTC
Our main reason for going to the southwest is the GC. But we would also like to see Zion or Bryce Canyon while we are out there. Has anyone visited a few of the parks while there? We are traveling via RV, i am wanting to know more about the best route for driving. I realize looking the map I cant really judge the distance between the parks. Thanks to anyone that can help! By the way, we will be there just 1 week, so i don't want to over stretch our time.

thanks,
abi

Grand Canyon National Park Inner grand canyon camping
Posted: Mon May 19, 2008 05:08 PM UTC
Hi! I am planning on hiking all the way down into the Grand Canyon end of September and camp in the Bright Angel Campground (next to Phantom Ranch). I still don't know if I should camp down there for one night or two nights, I don't know if there is much to do there and may be one night is just enough. Does anybody that has camped there can advise? Thanks a lot!

Grand Canyon National Park Accomodations at the South Rim
Posted: Tue May 22, 2007 03:09 PM UTC
Can anyone make hotel or cabin recommendations for a family of six to stay at the South Rim? Reviews on the El Tovar Suites or the Powell Suite at Bright Angel would be helpful. What is the fourplex cabin like? Do adjoining rooms exist? Is air conditioning needed in late June? Any suggestions are appreciated.

Which is better North or South I have always gone to the South mainly because of weather conditions (I rent motorcycle out of Vegas)this year I am planning my trip mid may and may have a choice. Should I just stick with the South or is the North better?

Grand Canyon National Park fly philla to phoenix and drive to train in williams to grand caynon 3 nite pkg
Posted: Tue June 27, 2006 02:29 AM UTC
We are planing around Oct 16, 06 or so on flying into phoenix, from philly ( 5.5 hours )and would like to do some site seeing on the way to Williams. trying to plan for weekdays for train and GC stay to avoid weekend @ GC.
* flying into PHX to use airmiles, phx has more mile avalable then flagstraff.

1 can we rent a car in phoenix and drop it off in Williams near the train station. then rent agin for return trip ? if not park it @ train or train hotel. or open to suggestions
2 if we have a couple days to see the sites, maybe one full day before train, and 2 days after train,(weekend) what should we go see.. no long hikes, we are mid 50's and I have heart & blood presure problems.
3 is taking the train a good way to see the GC? will be staying over 1 nite at the railroad hotel, would 2 nites be better. Want to see GC but also want to relax a little too. want to see sunrise and sunset too and take shuttles to other stuff in GC. need best places to see rise and set, and where to go on shuttle
4 place to stay near PHX airport, mostly likey landing in phx 8 to 9 pm, hotel with shuttle from airport and near rental car place off site of airport to save to airport car rental surcharges. may return car to airport on return trip around 2 pm

Grand Canyon National Park Where to stay in North Rim if NP lodges are booked?
Posted: Fri May 27, 2005 12:48 AM UTC
We're going to be in Las Vegas in July and are going to take a side trip to the Grand Canyon. Were thinking of spending one night at the South Rim and then driving to the North Rim for the second night. When I looked online, the national park lodge is booked.

Are there other places to stay? Any towns nearby?

Thanks in advance-
Jennifer.

Grand Canyon National Park Air tours
Posted: Thu February 3, 2005 09:14 PM UTC
Hi, I am planning a short visit to the Grand Canyon and I am considering taking a helicopter tour. They' re not cheap so I would like to know if the long ones, the one hour tours , are worth the money or it's like other type of tours where after 20 minutes everything is sort of the same and it would be better to do the sort tours.
Thanks a lot

Grand Canyon National Park Itinerary from Las Vegas to North Rim via Zion or Bryce?
Posted: Sat January 15, 2005 09:21 PM UTC
We are traveling to Las Vegas w/our 3 kids in June. Want to plan a route from Las Vegas to the North Rim with a stop at Zion or Bryce if possible. And...we'd like to do it with just 2 overnights before heading back to Las Vegas. We arent the type to stay and linger anyone place for long, but werent sure what the most logical route would be without too much doubling-back driving. Any suggestions? Is there another travel-route forum I should be searching?

Grand Canyon National Park Hotel in Grand Canyon
Posted: Thu December 9, 2004 10:16 AM UTC
Hello there.

We are travelling to California and Arizona for our honeymoon next June and wanted to know if anybody could recommend an out-of-the-way, romantic, away from the crowds, hotel, that is located within the Grand Canyon National Park, and that is within walking distance to one of the look out points for the Canyon, and close to trails for hiking etc.

We would very much appreciate your help in making this trip the holiday of a lifetime for us. Thanks and Regards,

Rachel and Brian

Grand Canyon National Park Antelope Canyon advice needed
Posted: Fri April 23, 2004 08:58 PM UTC
I'm travelling to Arizona in June of 2004 (3 days in Tucson, 4 days in Phoenix. I'd like to visit Antelope Canyon for a day while I'm there. The drive looks awfully long from Phoenix. I'd be willing to take a one day r/t flight to a nearby airport, if there is one. I'm also interested in a one day tour into Antelope Canyon, if I am able to get there. If anyone can offer any information to educate me on these possibilities, I'd appreciate it. Thank you.

Grand Canyon National Park South or East Entrance?
Posted: Mon June 9, 2003 04:46 PM UTC
Hi
Visiting in June and driving up from Phoenix. I hear horror stories about queues at the South entrance and I want to give my family a great first view ot the awesome canyon. Had thought about driving up via Oak Creek Canyon then up to the East entrance, along the East rim to the Village. We have overnight accommodation at one of the lodges.

One more question..is it worth getting up for the sunrise as well as seeing the sunset?

Thanks in advance for your replies,

Hi We are thinking about going to the grand canyon on memorial day weekend. I'm sure it will be crazy but we have never been. How many days or nights should we stay?Is one enough since it will be busy I'd like to see it and hike a little and go to vegas for a night too?? Is Mather campground nice?We have an RV but heard Mather has bigger spots. Is there a shuttle from the campground to the village? What else should we see in the area. We are driving from California and have 3 kido's!! Thanks!! T

Grand Canyon National Park What's the Big Draw?
Posted: Sun January 12, 2003 02:40 PM UTC
Somebody please tell me what is so interesting about the deserts of the American Southwest? Why does everybody slobber praise on the Grand Canyon? Why is Lake Mead the boating/water skiing mecca of the western U.S.? If it's going to draw visitors away from Olympic, or Yellowstone or Glacier, then I'm all for it. I just can't understand it.

Grand Canyon National Park Phoenix to Grand Canyon
Posted: Wed January 8, 2003 02:45 PM UTC
I will be in Phoenix next week working and plan to stay over the following weekend to visit the Grand Canyon for two days. Is this unrealistic? Seems to be a five hour drive per Mapquest. Does anyone know if I can at least see the southern fringe (i.e.) cut my driving to two hours from Phoenix? Is there anything within a two hour radius of Phoenix?

Thanks in Advance
