Juneau Glacier Helicopter & Dog Sled Tours
Posted: Wed April 5, 2006 09:32 AM UTC
There are 3 Major Dog Sled & Helicopter Tour companies. Would any one know which one is better or more recommended?
There is the
1)ERA Helicopters -4 Glacier Helicopter & Dog Sled (Sounds most exciting)(It has four different types of glacier flightseeing before the dog sled)
2)Coastal Helicopters (cheaper by around 25-30$)
3)TEMSCO Helicopters.

Juneau Tracy Arm Cruise from Juneau - Adventure Bound vs Goldbelt Tours(Spirit of Adventure)
Posted: Tue March 28, 2006 01:58 PM UTC
Does any one have an idea of what is the difference between the two one day cruises to Tracy Arm from Juneau?

One is by Adventure Bound ($120pp) the other one is by Goldbelt Tours ($147.5pp)
Please help us decide as to which one of them is better.
We would prefer the better one the one that goes closest to the glaciers(north & south sawyer glacier and also takes out time for wildlife.)
Thanks

Juneau Juneau and Around in April 3rd Week
Posted: Wed March 22, 2006 08:38 PM UTC
I am planning a short trip (3 days) to Alaska. Am planning to fly into Juneau and was wondering what kind of activities can i do in April, since most of the stuff opens in May. My top 3 things on list are:

1. Yukon railroad trip
2. Glacier bay national park (via ferry or boat with a an overnite stay)
3. Misty Fjords

Not really sure which of these are open in mid april. Any suggestions or comments on how to go about visiting these places? Thanks in advance.

Juneau What are the best things to do in Juneau in August.
Posted: Mon January 23, 2006 06:20 PM UTC
We are visiting Juneau in August and want to be sure that we see and do everything that deals with the outdoors. We plan on camping, but also want to stay in B&B's or hotels to pamper ourselves. Where can we stay? Should we rent a car? We just don't want to miss a thing!

Juneau first night in Juneau
Posted: Thu September 15, 2005 04:39 AM UTC
Hi people!
On my one year tour I'm going to visit Juneau this Saturday.
I will arrive by ferry from Whittier, which takes about 2 days ;-)
Problem is that the hostel closes the same time the ferry docks in Juneau 10.30pm

I was wondering if there is someone out there to give me some advice on a cheap place to stay and how to get there from the ferry port. This is only for the first night, after that I will move on to the Juneau hostel.

Thanks!

My husband and I are going on a cruise on the inside passage from Seattle to Juneau/Skagway with stops at Prince Rupert and Ketchican. We would like to be able to see bear fishing salmon going upstream. Can anyone suggest how we might accomplish this?

Juneau Bears & Juneau
Posted: Sat August 20, 2005 12:12 AM UTC
How close do bears get to Juneau? I was requesting info, in the newsgroups, on hiking groups in Juneau. Someone replied that there is no hiking around Juneau because of the bears. Is that a crock or what?

Juneau what to pack
Posted: Wed June 22, 2005 07:55 PM UTC
Hi! My daughter is eleven and she will be leaving for Juneau on June 29th. She's going to be there for about 10 days. I was looking up the weather online and I see the temperature is varying from 55-68 degrees. So hard to pack for that because it's been hovering in the 90's here. Everytime I even think of packing sweaters and jackets I break out in a sweat. I was wondering if someone could give me some tips on what to pack for her. Thank you in advance!!!

Juneau Travel from Anchorage to Juneau
Posted: Wed February 23, 2005 04:01 PM UTC
We are planning a trip in June or July of this year. We are using frequent flyer miles and have to fly into Anchorage. We want to eventually end up in Sitka via ferry travel. Is it possible to drive from Anchorage to Juneau and if so what is the distance and how long would it take. we have two children ages 3 and 6 and would love to take our time and see the sights. Any advice on the best way to get to Juneau from Anchorage would be appreciated.

Juneau Family Apartment
Posted: Fri February 18, 2005 01:40 AM UTC
Hi guys

Heading to Juneau for 9 days in June with two kids (6 and 3) and grandparents - for babysitting!! My dad will be 80 and Mom is the one who instigiated the whole family going out to a wedding there on 11th June!!

Have been on a couple of sites but finding it hard to pin down somewhere to stay with 2 bedrooms and a kitchen. Found Serenity Inn which looked fab and would'nt completely break the bank (considering the flight costs!) but they don't have full availablity.

Has anyone any suggestion. We really would like somewhere that has 2 bedrooms and a sofa-bed so the folks could babysit if we are going out partying. And also somewhere that would be nice to hang out in for the day if we or they wanted to take a day off sightseeing.

Your advice would be greatly appreaciated.

Juneau Tide Pooling and Horseback Riding
Posted: Fri February 11, 2005 06:11 PM UTC
We're planning a trip to Juneau this June. Two years ago we went to Homer and my daughter fell in love with tide pooling. Are there any beaches in the Juneau area where you can do that sort of thing? We were also thinking about taking the ferry to somewhere for a day or two--any tide pooling at any of the nearby destinations?

Also, are there any stables in the Juneau area that offer horseback riding?

Thanks for any info you can give me.

Juneau Renting a car

1) Do we have to rent cars from the airport or are there any car rentals in downtown?

2) If I plan to be there in 1st or 2nd week of June, do I have to rent a car in advance?

Juneau moving to Juneau
Posted: Tue August 17, 2004 02:08 AM UTC
I really want to move to Juneau. I work in the medical field. Any comments on living there ? Can the average single person survive living there ? Housing seems very high..but their seems to be many perks. do you feel too closed in as compared to the lower 48, where you can travel great distances by car in a day? Any feedback would be appreciated...

Juneau beyond downtown
Posted: Tue June 15, 2004 03:41 AM UTC
We will be in Juneau for one day in August and would like to see the city beyond the tourist areas. We are thinking about renting bicycles and riding over to Douglas Island but we would also like to see the areas where full time residents live and shop. What areas should we visit and can we do this on bicycles or would another mode of transportation be better?

Also can anyone recommend a shop that sells unique Alaskan goods not just the typical mass produced touristy souveniers?

Thanks much for your suggestions.
