Bremen What's better for an overnight-stay: Bremen or Bremerhaven ??
Posted: Wed September 30, 2009 09:19 AM UTC
I just want to start a major journey without any hectic, going "low and slow"
As my vessel will depart from Bremerhaven around 4 pm, I'm considering to add another overnight.Where does it make more sense, in Bremen or directly in Bremerhaven, especially w.r. to visiting a few nice places, cultural- and foodwise ??
Thanks for your support in advance!

Posted: Mon September 14, 2009 04:04 AM UTC
HI!!

Greetings from Malaysia...

I will be in Bremen on Sept 27 for 2-3 days. Can someone suggest what I should do in Bremen for the entire duration and places to see? Or should I take a day trip to Hamburg or any nearby interesting city? Regarding places to stay, any recommendation for a mid range hotel of around 100-150 euros and should I stay in Old Town?? Thanks for the tips!!

Bremen from Bremen to Berlin
Posted: Fri February 6, 2009 10:43 AM UTC
My parents are flying to Bremen, and going to Berlin also at same trip. They have had troubles by finding bus-timetables,and I promised to ask here. They found only one company witch went from Bremen around 9 oīclock (a.m) and took 7 hours. If you know if there is any other connections, and links to them in net. They speak German, but they are not common with finding things in internet. They found some prices, but my mother was wondering, did they understand everything right. They found allready flats to rent in Berlin, but this connection thing was the trouble. If you know prices of the tickets, that would be nice also. And is there any offers for senior-citizen?(at Finland they get -40% of bus-prices).Is there also a train-connection?They thought, that train is more expensive, but I donīt know have they red it somewhere or do they only think so.They donīt mind going with bus(I would..).Thanks allready,if someone can help!

Bremen What happened at Bremen at Saturday?
Posted: Mon December 1, 2008 12:35 PM UTC
We donīt speak German,so we didnīt understand the papers, but if someone knows, could she/he tell us,what was happening at Bremen at saturday?
We were leaving from our hotel to downtown, when a lady came to tram-stop and started to explain something-we understood only, that tram is standing, and canīt move.So we walked to center, and at some point we strated to see lots of polices. Then it was more, more and even then more.I think there was hudreds of polices!Iīve never seen so much. All the trams where stopped, and at one point at the Ostertor-named part of city,we saw allmost only polices, and they had made a circle, where was some men inside, and they had a red flag or something(it wasnīt open,we only noticed it wrapped around a log or something). Then after that, when we came closer to city, everything was normal. There was a big football-happening I think?Did it have something to do with it?We just thouht that if so,it seemed little "over-safety" to have all the polices from around 100km..As it looked like.

Bremen T.G.I Fridays?
Posted: Wed November 26, 2008 01:49 PM UTC
Some of you will think Iīm grazy by asking this, but is there Fridays at Bremen? We donīt like German foods(sorry locals..),and for some reason we love those potatoskins in Fridays. When we see their restaurant,we must get in.There isnīt one in Finland-othervice we wouldnīt visit it at our trips. In fact,I donīt think any restaurant serves potatoskins in Finland.First time we heard about them,we thought that isnīt that pigs food?Anyway.I tried to google it,but thereīs something wrong-it allways goes to American Fridays website, and if I will foun European,it will say"page cannot be found".Maybe it is a problem, that goes away, but we are leaving in 36hours,so maybe I wont have time to try enough.

Bremen Bremen airport to Mecure Hanseatic
Posted: Sat November 8, 2008 07:43 PM UTC
Hi,

May I know the cheapest and fastest way to get to Mecure Hanseatic Hotel from the airport please?

Also, I saw that the hotel is labelled as an airport hotel. Is the hotel far from the main attractions?

Last but not least, I would like to know if there is only one train station in bremen and is it there where I purchase the 'Happy Weekend Ticket' from the station?

Thanks!!

Bremen Bremen to Berlin
Posted: Tue October 14, 2008 12:41 PM UTC
Hi,

I went to DB's website to search for the timetable for my departure from Bremen to Berlin on the 27/12/2008. However, i was unable to get any information. Is it that the timetable is only out until 13/12/2008 and so i was unable to get my search for 27/12?

Also, I am thinking of purchasing the Happy Weekend ticket as i will be travelling with a group of 5. Will this ticket cover the cost of all 5 of us to Berlin from Bremen as well as the local public transport?

Many thanks!

Bremen Whats on in October?
Posted: Wed October 1, 2008 09:26 AM UTC
Got a trip arranged for mid October (17-20 Oct) was wondering if there was anything going on in the city at that time i.e. beer festivals, football games, wine tasting, music etc. Think I plan to do the boat trip and drinking by the shore but would like to see more of the city. Any help and advice would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Bremen Bremen to Hamburg

How long it takes by train from Bremen to Hamburg?Anyone remembers the price of ticket? We will go to Bremen for three days in the begining of December(so not in hurry yet!),and someone suggested us to visit Hamburg same time.Iīm not sure yet, should we do it or not..And is there more Christmas-markets in Hamburg than in Bremen?I believe, that we woulnīt stay for night,if we would go.Our visit is so short, that Iīm not sure is it vice to visit both,or should we stay in Bremen..We havenīt been in either of them.
If we go to Hamburg, are the market-places far from trainstation?

Bremen Richard-Taylor-Strasse, Farge. Which Richard Taylor?
Posted: Fri April 25, 2008 09:46 PM UTC
Just back from a fantastic five days in Bremen.

One particular 'highlight' was taking the train out to Farge, and the bus to Rekum - and then walking round the exterior of the Valentin U-boat Bunker. The man from the Bundeswehr would not let me through the gate to look inside!! A secondary reason for going to Farge was to take a photo of a street sign. I had noticed Richard-Taylor-Strasse on Google-Map and now have photos of it. I have a friend in England called Richard Taylor, who I hope will be slightly amused to see my photos. BUT...WHO IS THE 'OTHER' RICHARD TAYLOR AFTER WHOM A STREET IN FARGE IS NAMED? Is it the Harvard Professor of Mathematics who solved Fermat's Theorem? And why a street in Farge? Does anyone out there have the answers? (The girls in the Bremen Tourist Office didn't know - In fact they were slightly baffled by the question!)

Bremen Best Value Rail Ticket, Beer, Food, etc.
Posted: Tue February 26, 2008 01:29 AM UTC
I will be staying in Bremen from 17th to 22nd April.

I have started doing my research.
I now realise there is no chance of seeing Werder play, due to the German Cup Final having been arranged for the 19th April and all Bundesliga games cancelled. I now realise also that it was tricky getting hotel room over the weekend, because Bremen is hosting its 'jazzahead' festival.

I'm sure I'll find plenty to do in Bremen and Bremerhaven. But if I did fancy a day's excursion to Hamburg, can someone confirm that the cheapest ticket for a single-traveller to buy would be 'Das Niedersachsen-Ticket Single'? My German is not that bad (honest!) - but the relevant DB web page is only available in German and is pretty complex.

Any other tips on Bremen would be much appreciated. I enjoy my beer. Any recommendations, other than Becks? And local food specialities?

Finally, as a supporter of a 'smaller' Scottish team (Motherwell - the club that once sold Paul Lambert to Borussia Dortmund) may I just say 'Good Luck' to Werder in the next round of the EUFA Cup against Rangers.
