Hello. I am Lawrence from Malta. Probably i will be visiting Belgrade in the first part of September. I would like to know about nightlife in Belgrade. Where are the best places to go? Can I communicate in English? And how are the prices? I would like to know also the best way to travel from Sofia to Belgrade. I was thinking about buses. Thank you

I will be in Belgrade next weekend with my friend. can anyone suggest a hotel that is not too expensive? we will arrive by train from Budapest and I really like to walk so something within reasonable walking distance from the train station.

Hi there we are hoping to travel by sleeper train if possible from Budapest to Belgrade OR Novi Sad on 12th September.

I found the website www.elvira.hu and found a train at 23.25 but have no clue if it is a sleeper or not and I think it says change 1/2 way through??

I have been looking at hotels. Cheap ones. Does anyone know if Hotel Royal is ok? I see Lonely planet give them ok reviews as a budget hotel.

Is there tourist/guidebuses in Belgrade?

What is the must see places? and how many days would you need in Belgrade to feel that you have seen the city?

Looking for agency specialized in airplane tickets to U.S. (West Coast). Since JAT does not fly (yet) to USA, they are a "feeder" airline for others (Virgin Atlantic, Air India, Emirates) and have special agreements with said airlines regarding transatlantic tickets.

To find a JAT agent in USA was trouble-free and he saved us at least $400 pro person compared with on-line tickets.

Now we are looking for a similar agent in Beograd where we can purchse a r/t to U.S.

Does anyone has a suggestion or past experience?

Nearly time for me to visit but before I get there I have another question. I have been offered an apartment in Dorcol on road called Dunavski kej, can some one tell me if this is a good place to stay, on the map it looks like it is close to kalemegdan and central Beograd. Is this a nice neighbourhood or more like industrial. Once again Thank you in advance.

i was hoping someone could help me with understanding the train system, the website doesnt explain it much..
on the network map, what do the thinner lines represent? train lines or bus connections?

if you open up the map, youll see at around the number "72" area its a thinner line, and areas on the thinner line are not in the list when looking for timetables.

What id really like to know is, how to get from Despotovac (around "72") to Beograd, or at least from Despotovac to Markovac

I am taking a couple of weeks trip round some of eastern europe this summer and wondered if anyone had any experience of the Belgrade to Budapest overnight sleeper train?

In particular, how much does it cost, where to get tickets and how far in advance should we get them? any other tips welcome (must see's do's in either city etc)

Keti, can you please tell what is your favorite airport tranporter name (going to BP)? If we can squeeze in 100-150 Euro (5 people) than it's not too bad.

Otherwise we may just take bus #72 to the sation in the worst case.

Also thinking to rent a "Dachgepäckträger" (btw: what is the Serbian name of that thing?) in Hungary for may father's Opel Astra (will be ca. 3000 Ft) in Hungary and take the car.

Hello VTers, yes I am still planning and counting days until I arrive in Belgrade...69 more sleeps, but first i need some help with tickets for Zdravko Colic concert in Belgrade on 23 Jun. I arrive into Belgrade on 23 Jun and want to go to this concert so my queston is how do I buy tickets??? Can I buy them at the concert or online? Also Are ther any other big concerts...yes I know rolling stones on 14 Jul, what about like Bijelo Dugme or Ceca??

I was in Beograd this past weekend (had an amazing time, love the city!) and stumbled on a religious event of some kind at St Mark's. It was on the afternoon of Saturday the 31st of March. There was a circuit of the church led by priests and there was all kinds of children's rides, cotton candy, a sheep, some guy wandering around with a monkey on his shoulder. Lots of people selling bells on ropes and calling out "son chi chi" or something like that.

Can anyone tell me what the event was? Is it related to Easter or was it specific to the church itself? And what is the symbolism of the bells? I didn't get a chance to ask anyone.

What is the quickest way to get from Belgrade to Sarajevo? It does not look so great a distance on the map, but the train schedules show the shortest train journey at 11 hours via a circuitous route through northern Croatia. The only flight I could find is later at night. Is it possible to drive to Sarajevo from Belgrade in a more direct route than the train (over the Drina river or via Uzice?) and if so, how long does it take? Are there more direct trains or other airlines besides JAT that fly direct to Sarajevo from Belgrade?

I am from South Africa - going to Serbia for the Exit festival in July and then down onto Sail Croatia.I was wondering what my best options of travel would be? To get into Croatia - perhaps more North as our boat trip covers Split to Dubrovnik and we are only leaving on the 21st, therefore have 4 days to play around with. Any suggestions on how to spend 4 days before getting on a boat in Split?

Any advice would be so welcome and I can return the favour if you want to travel to South Africa ever:-)
