Hi there serbian friends,
I plan to stop for one night in Serbia for a "sleep-stop" on my way to Greece.
Anyone can recomend me a nice but not expensive place on highway E75 (I don't want to leave it this time) somewhere about 200-300 km after Belgrade?
I will be with my family and my kids !
Thanks and all the best!

Hi there everyone.
Myself and my friend will be in Belgrade in September and are wanting to get the bus to Sarajevo.I cannot understand any of the bus websites, although going by the Lonely Planet, there is a bus to Sarajevo daily which takes approx 7-8 hrs. Would anybody happen to have up to date knowledge of the bus timetable to Sarajevo, particularly if there is an overnight train? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

We are looking to visit at the end of March for 3 nights and have a couple of questions please.

Accommodation
What is the best area to look at, one which is close to the main area for bars and restaurants but at the same time, not right in the middle of it and you don’t get any sleep!!! I’ve found a few apartments which look good value, which helps as we’d need triple rooms if it’s a hotel we book – so are apartments worth looking at over hotels?

Eating
What would you say and the places/types of food you must not miss when visiting Belgrade?

Seeing the city
Part of our group includes my dad, aged 70, so is Belgrade an easy city to look round on foot or does it work better using public transport. If transport, what is the most cost efficient way of doing this – is there a tourist card or travel card that’s worth buying for a 3 night stay?

Thanks to all for any help offered

I will be in Beograd for 5 days in early September. I have spent a little time in the City before and have read a variety of guidebooks about what to see and do. A little bit of local knowledge, however, is usually best in my experience.
FOOD - Is there a restaurant (Serbian food please) that is an absolute must visit? DRINK - Is there a bar/club that is essential? I am particularly interested in hearing some live Serbian or Roma music but I don't want to go somewhere too touristy! BEER - Does Belgrade have any micro breweries? MARKETS - Are there any good second hand markets? I am particularly interested in old (but working) cameras. DAY TRIP - What is the best day trip from the City?
Thank you very much everyone !
Les.

Hello,
We will visiting an aunt in Stremska Mitrovica, and we will stay for 2-3 days. I read that you have to prove at border that you have enough money for your stay?
We will not stay at the hotel, we'll not need much money for 2-3 days. I traveled in other countries, but nobody asked me how much money do I have.
I read also that my aunt should declare our stay at the local police?
I read here: http://www.serbia.travel/useful-info/formalities/entry-and-stay-of-foreigners/
Thank you for any advice about this questions.
One more:) There is a bus we can take from Belgrade to Stremska Mitrovica? We'll arrive from Bucharest by train, around 11 am.
Thank you!

Thinking about doing family trip next april and one of the stops for about 4 days would be belgrade--kids would then be 3 yrs and 6 months. We have travelled extensively--for example my son is currently 2 and has already been to europe 3 times--so the question doesn't relate to "how to travel" with young kids, its specific to whether belgrade is kid friendly, ie parks, places to run/walk about, are there restaurants there where taking someone who might have a fit not a big deal, things of that nature. In general, we aren't really museum people, we like to walk about and soak in atmosphere, shop, look at architecture. Thanks!

Hi,
my sin and I will visit Belgrade from June 12 till 19.My son studies East European History at the university of Amsterdam. We would like to know which places might be interesting for him to visit. We are staying in hostel Captain.
The plan is to take the bus from the airport to the city. Which busstop is best for the hostel?
We saw Kafana Korcagin or something like that in a documentary. Does this cafe still exist? Are there other places you would advise us to see?
Thanks for your help.Looking forward to your answer.

Hi, I want suggestions of what to bring home. Preferably something typical of Serbia or other things of "good value for the money". Moreover it has to be small enough so that I can take it inside the plane. Possible some local art but I have no idea of what to look for.

Please help,

thx

We will be in Belgrade for a night (early May) and are looking for a restaurant that serves traditional food. We would appreciate if anyone has suggestions where we can have dinner and if they take credit cards. We don't want to change too much money for just one night, but if the prices are not very high we would pay cash.
Thank you for your help.

Hi,
Please forgive me in advance for being very naïve about your country. I am considering going on a tour in July that goes through Bosnia, Serbia, Montenegro, and Albania. I don’t now anyone who has been to those countries.

I don’t know much about those countries, but I am very interested in learning and embracing the cultures.

Will I need a Visa visiting those countries only for a few days?
Are tourists safe in those countries or is there still polictical unrest?
Are people pretty easy to get along with?
Is the water pretty safe to drink or will I need to drink from bottled water?
What is the weather like?
If you had a choice, would you visit those countries…or…would you visit Iceland instead???

Again, I am so sorry for being ignorant about the countries…but I can’t think of a better way of finding out without asking.

Thanks,
Matt

Hello, in May my colleague and I will be taking a journey across from London to Istanbul, we are planning the journey and would like to visit Serbia, travelling between Budapest and Sofia.

We are young-at-heart budget travellers, enjoying local eateries, bars and meeting the locals. We enjoy a walking tour of the city, we find history and architecture interesting and also I like to travel on a local railway journey and/or visit a railway museum.

As we're passing through other cities en-route (eg Subotica, Novy Sad or Nis) any advice on these will be appreciated please.

Thank you

Jonathan

I am an Australian born serb, coming to belgrade in February 2011 for a month holiday. While i have some small family to visit, I was hoping someone may be able to help me in identifying any clubs, bars, where tourists visit more than often, so i may bump into others also travelling.

If all goes as planned I'm moving to Belgrade next month to stay there for 6 months hopefully. I don't know that many people so I need some to go out for coffie or drinks. I know Belgrade so I don't need to be shown around town, but if you want we can do that anyway :-)

Hello,
I should be going from Belgrade to Timisoara next week, I tried to contact by email the company of minibus that does that route but they did not confirm anything to me yet. So my question is: is there a website where I can check train timetables from Belgrade to Timisoara and way back?
I tried with teh serbianrailways.com website but the timetable seems to be only in serbian.
Thanks

Hi All,

I'll be in Belgrade starting from the 31st of August for a couple of days.
It's for business purposes, but I intend to discover the city for my own interest.

I like seeing and walking in the open air places, I like to eat and also enjoy the night life.
Is there anything you could advise? Would also appreciate to meet VT members there.

Looking forward to hear from you soon.

Kind regards,
Murat

Hello all
I had a flight booked with Wizz Air to fly from London Luton into Belgrade on 21 August, it's a Saturday. Now i've received an email from Wizz Air to say the flight has been pushed back until Sunday night on the 22nd. I've tried checking several airlines since but nobody seems to want to fly into Nikola Tesla airport on a Saturday!!! I absolutely have to get to Belgrade on the Saturday. I've tried nearby airports like Osijek in Croatia (to get a train connection) but yes, it's a Sunday flight only into Osijek.
At the moment it's looking like a flight to Budapest with a 8 hour train journey to Belgrade to make it there on the Saturday.
Does anyone have any better ideas?
I'm actually flying out of Dublin first, with the change in Luton... so i have options with regard to changing my connecting airport.
I'm interested in hearing all suggestions!
Thank you all
DG

Hey Dear all,
Arriving next Saturday noon to the city, what is your suggestions for a couple who likes walking, nice food, and normal clubs? (no crazy tecno nights!)

The Federal Association of Globe Trotters at Bulevar Despota Stefana, needs reservation? Some says that is not easy to find it, as it is without labels, into a block of houses. How can i acces it? By taxi maybe?

Also for Sunday, do you think we have to make a daily tour out the city of Belgrade?

Thanks in advance !
