i'm coming over to Geneva, and my plane lands in the afternoon. Is there any buses, or trains that go directly to the main train station. I need to get to my hostel out around Lake Geneva as quickly as possible. Any response would be great. Thank You.

Geneva Budget Hotel near Geneva airport?
Posted: Thu January 10, 2008 05:08 PM UTC
Looking to spend 1 night in an inexpensive hotel located near the Geneva airport. We have an EasyJet flight that gets into Geneva at 10:30pm, and the next morning, we plan to leave Geneva for another nearby town, perhaps Montreux. A clean, budget-friendly hotel, possibly with a hotel shuttle would be great. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Geneva Spring trip to Geneva?
Posted: Mon November 26, 2007 06:09 PM UTC
A friend and I (in our early 20s) are traveling to Europe for 10 days in early March and are thinking about Geneva. We're not sure if there will be much to do for young people and if the weather will be prohibitively cold and rainy. Maybe Barcelona or Prague might be a better choice? Any suggestions?

Geneva Geneva Shop
Posted: Mon November 26, 2007 05:18 PM UTC
There's a gift shop in Old Town that carries some jewellery. There's a sign in the window that reads "My apartment in NY" ... or "My loft in NY". That is not the name of the store, but a reference, I think, to a line that they carry. It's quaint little place -- with a necklace I want to get for my wife. Does that ring a bell with any of you out in cyberspace. Thanks in advance! Larry Parrott

Geneva Geneva to Vienna - best train?
Posted: Fri November 23, 2007 02:13 PM UTC
Hey everybody. I am going to the Euro Cup next year, and will be seeing 2 games - June 11 in Geneva and June 12 in Vienna! It will be quite the rush to get from one to the next, and I'm wondering what the best train company is to get there. I'm not really concerned about price, just time. We'll have to check into our hotel and all before we go to the second game. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you so much in advance!

Geneva Geneva for New Year
Posted: Fri October 5, 2007 09:01 AM UTC
I would be grateful of any information of what happens over New Year in Geneva?
We are arriving on 30th Dec for 3 nights, leave on 2nd January. At midnight of New Year are there out door celebrations? Is this weather dependant? Any advice of good clubs / bars to go to over our 3 nights? Would we have to pre-book to get into a club for New Year?
Any other fun / useful info of things to do over this period, greatly appreciated!

Geneva Geneva in January
Posted: Wed September 19, 2007 09:06 PM UTC
We are planning to go to Switzerland on Jan 3rd arriving in Geneva. I want to spend about 2 days there and would love any advice or suggestions on what there is to do there for 2 days. We are in our 20s and would like to explore the cultural and night life part of the place.

Also, how cold is it usually in that time of year and are there any boat cruises? I would imagine the lake to be frozen and no boats, but I don’t know

Any information will be appreciated

Thanks 

Geneva Geneva - Lyon (day trip) --- anyone has experience?
Posted: Thu August 16, 2007 07:39 AM UTC
Hey VT members,

I wish to make a day trip on this Saturday to Lyon, France from Geneva. I was told by the train office that it costs around 40 CHF something (one way, for non-TGV train) to go from Geneva to Lyon. It seems to me a bit too expensive. Does anyone aware of any better offer? (e.g day return ticket or even bus?)

Thanks for your help.

Geneva Possible graduate placement in Geneva
Posted: Thu May 31, 2007 07:22 PM UTC
Hi all

I am on a graduate scheme for an investment bank and have opportunities to apply for a 9-12mth placement on Continental Europe. This includes Frankfurt,Luxembourg, Milan, Paris, Zurich and Geneva.

Obviously im posting in the Geneva forum right now, so..

Was wondering if anyone could give me advice on whether this is a good place for a 23year old to stay and work for a few months? In terms of things to do, cost of living, language adaptations etc..

Alternatively I am hearing good things about Zurich too.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Geneva Parking in Geneva - PLS advise!
Posted: Fri May 25, 2007 07:52 AM UTC
Hi guys,
We are going to Geneva for 10 days by car visiting some relatives, and we heard it's quite a big mess to get parking places there and if you don't pay attention you get a fine quite easily. As we need to park our car every night and also for some of the days when we are just going for a walk, we are looking for a budget option to do that. Do any of you know any parking garages or guarded parking places where you can buy a weekly ticket to park in? I guess this would be cheaper than paying parking fee par hour, and we don't mind more walking to our accomodation, so the place is indifferent as long as it's quite central. Can you please advise about possible options and where to get more information about this?
Thanks a lot,
Dina.
