Grindelwald short visit to Grindelwald
Posted: Fri August 14, 2009 07:48 PM UTC
We are spending a very short time in Europe in September, travelling in a camper van (2 adults, 3 kids) and trying to see as much as we can. We will only be able to spend 2 days in the Alps and were thinking of Grindelwald as you can stay there in the van. Being Aussie kids, they are desperate to see and touch snow and throw snowballs! What is the best way to reach the snow in mid September? What is the best value for money gondola/cable car/train ride if we only have one or two days in Switzerland? Is Grindelwald the best place to go to enjoy our very short stay in the country? Any other tips or suggestions? Thanks

Grindelwald Travel in Grindelwald & Interlaken region
Posted: Mon June 22, 2009 05:21 PM UTC
We are going for our first trip to Switzerland - a seven day trip & we will be based in Grindelwald. We want to explore and enjoy this and the nearby areas rather than travelling to all corners of Switzerland during the trip (an exception might be Zermat since my friend is keen to visit it).

I believe the best travel option is the Swiss Card which will cover the return trip from Zurich airport to Grindelwald and give us 50% discount on all other fare. Any ideas if this is the most economical thing to do?

Also is it cheaper to buy items like the Swiss Card and Swiss Pass outside Switzerland? We heard that to promote tourism, lower rates/discount is given if purchased outside Switzerland.

I would be grateful for any advise and help with this.

Grindelwald Trip to the Jungfraujoch (Top of Europe)
Posted: Thu June 12, 2008 05:58 PM UTC
We are going to Switzerland this summer and will be staying in the Interlaken region. We want to do the trip to the Jungfrau all the way to the top of course. I have been reading lots about it and have noticed that you can take the train from Lauterbrunnen or Grindelwald. We have a car so we will drive up to Lauterbrunnen or Grindelwald and take the train from there to the Jungfrau.

My question to you is which of these train trips is the most beautiful. Should we take the train to the Jungfrau from Lauterbrunnen or Grindelwald? It won't be our only visit to Lauterbrunnen or Grindelwald as we will be staying for 11 days in that area. I just want to know which train trip is the nicest of the two.

Thanks in advance,
Ann

Grindelwald traveling from Grindelwald to Germany
Posted: Thu October 18, 2007 01:48 AM UTC
We will be staying in Grindelwald the week prior to Christmas and are looking for a good place to go for Christmas and New Years. I have heard New Years is great in Germany. Perhaps Munich? We are having difficulty figuring out how to get there (train or plane and which ones) as well as deciding where to go. Any suggestions or advise will be greatly appreciated.

Grindelwald Getting to Grindelwald from Zurich
Posted: Thu December 28, 2006 01:10 AM UTC
Hi, I am planning a trip in February to Grindelwald for 6 people and we need to get from Zurich airport to Grindelwald. Is there any kind of shuttle service or transport company for hire? We have excess luggage and concerned that the train may be too difficult for some of the elders. I understand that we don't need a car in the town so we are just looking for a ride to and from the airport.
Many thanks!

Grindelwald Hang Gliding in the Jungfrau region
Posted: Mon October 23, 2006 01:04 PM UTC
Just how good are the facilities for hang gliding in and around Grindelwald? I have just returned from there and understand you can get a short-packed hang glider up to the top of the 'First' cable car station but how about access on the mountain railways and roads ? I am a member of a UK hang gliding club and am exploring the possibilities of arranging a club holiday there in the future,

Grindelwald Travel through Switzerland; Grindelwald detour?
Posted: Sat July 19, 2003 01:08 PM UTC
Hi all
I'll be travelling from Paris to Zurich mid-September, most likely by train. I only have a few days in total before flying to London from Zurich. I am told Grindelwald is lovely and would consider breaking the travel to stay a night there if that is practical. Grateful for any ideas or suggestions on how best to get there, where to stay, etc.
