Lausanne Luggage Storage Near CGN Ferry?
Posted: Tue March 18, 2008 04:44 AM UTC
We're probably going to take the train from Montreux to Lausanne, and then a taxi (to carry our bag) down to the port to store our bag near the ferry. Is there a place at or near the CGN ferry to store luggage? It would be for a few hours mid-morning on a Monday in April.

Lausanne ABC department store in Lausanne
Posted: Sun October 21, 2007 01:57 AM UTC
Hello,

7 yrs ago, we lived for aprox. 6 months in Lausanne.

I remember a department store, not very fancy, named ABC in the centre-ville.

I still have some of the merchandise we bought there in very good quality, despite all the wear-and-tear ...

As we plan to visit Lausanne next summer, could anyone please let me know if that store still exists, and if so, provide me with a link ...

Many thanks in advance,
Alina

Lausanne Swiss Pass, Tell Pass or Individual Tickets?
Posted: Thu September 13, 2007 03:12 PM UTC
With so many transportation options available, I need some advice on which I should go for while in Switzerland based on this tentative plan :

1) Land in Zurich, take train from Zurich to Lausanne.
2) Stay in Lausanne for 3 days, visit nearby areas such as Ouchy, Olympic museum, Musée de l'Elysée, St. Francois, Cathedral or possibly further to Chateau de Chillion, Cully and Nyon
3) Train from Lausanne to Interlaken (Stay 4 nites), visit areas around Interlaken and Lucerne
4) Train from Interlaken to Zurich for return flight back to Malaysia

Based on this, should I go for the 8 day Swiss Pass, or Tell Pass, or just buy individual tickets? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Lausanne Which area to stay in after Lausanne if flying off from Zurich?
Posted: Fri September 7, 2007 01:43 PM UTC
We will be staying in Lausanne for about 3 days, then have another 3 days in Switzerland before flying off to Malaysia from Zurich. Would it be better to stay on in Lausanne and travel to other parts by train over the 3 days, or move to another area (nearer Zurich) for the last 3 days?

Which area would one recommend? Lucerne, Interlaken are some areas that we are considering, or even Zurich itself.

Lausanne From Zurich to Lausanne on train with Luggage
Posted: Thu September 6, 2007 02:00 PM UTC
Am looking at the option of flying into Zurich, then take the 2hr train to Lausanne cos there are no direct flights from Malaysia to Geneva. Would like to check though if it will be easy to manage if we have my luggage bags with us. I understand i need to change trains at Bern. Would we need to lug our luggage up and down staircases?

From the advice given on VT, it sounds like we should get the SwissPass for travel around Switzerland if we're going to be there >4 days. Should it be bought online or when we arrive? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Lausanne 2 weeks in Lausanne in Nov 2007
Posted: Tue June 26, 2007 12:22 PM UTC
Hi,
I come from sunny Malaysia.

I'll be in Lausanne from Nov 5-20th.
- wondering what the weather will be like
- and during that season, what touristy things I can do?
- will be there for biz meetings (8.30am-5.30pm)during weekdays, and can spare sometime during weekends.
- am wondering what I can do in Lausanne after 5.30pm, and what are possible weekend short trips?
- also wondering, if I am to extend 3-4 days thereafter for a short holiday, what would be suggested areas of visits?

cheers.

Lausanne Daily budget in Switzerland
Posted: Wed May 9, 2007 07:41 AM UTC
Dear friends, I am going to spend 3 days in Switzerland - Geneve, Lausanne, Montreaux...How much money would do per day? I don't plan any special shopping, just a few souvenirs and some food of course. Please give me some idea of the living standard - how much do these cost: a cup of coffee, sweets, a lunch, a travel book? Regards!

Lausanne erasmus

I'm going to study in Lausanne for next year:) but as always - from what I noticed - now I've got problems with finding accomodation...I would like to be in student dormitory. Is, amongs you, someone who lives (or lived) there? What does it mean: "prix sans taxe de sejour" ? Are there taxe de sejour apart from the prix for accomodation? And what if the price for internet is not included? Is it very pricey in Lausanne? In my place dormitories are supllied with the stable connection so the fee is also stable...please, write!

Lausanne Sailing/Hiking/Scenic things to do in Lausanne?
Posted: Thu August 4, 2005 02:04 PM UTC
I'll be in Lausanne in just a couple of weeks(Sept. 2005), for 4 days and am looking to make the most of it. I love the outdoors(hiking and sailing in particular), and am looking for some advice on what not to miss and how to spend my time. I sail mainly small one-handed sailboats(lasers), and could use some advice on if there is a place to rent such boats or similar in Lausanne. Looks like sailing is there, but I see lots of motor, large boats. Thoughts?

Thanks!!!!

Lausanne Living in Lausanne
Posted: Wed December 8, 2004 11:08 PM UTC
Hi!

I have to go to study on Erasmus for a year, and I considered Lausanne as my destination, but I haven't found many informations about living and studying there.
I'd like to have, if anybody knows, informations about Lausanne, regarding the city, the people, the security, the costs (especially for that which concerns the apartments), the trasnports, and eventually about the University, the ways to have fun, the nightlife... and why not, the girls : - ) !!!!!!!
Thanks to anyone that will help me!

BYE!!

Lausanne Hotel room with air-conditioning
Posted: Thu April 22, 2004 02:35 PM UTC
Hi - Does anyone know of a good reasonably priced hotel in Lausanne that has air-conditioning? We are going at the beginning of September and think it might be hot (last summer was very hot). We went to Switzerland 2 years ago in September and we had no problem with heat. Stayed at first in Berne and had to wear a jacket. But I guess because of last summer's heat wave in Europe, we are wondering if we should check out air-conditined places.
