Lucerne Visiting Luzern from 11-Jul until 14-Jul
Posted: Fri June 8, 2007 11:02 AM UTC
Hi,

I'm going to a conference in Luzern that's taking place on the 12th and 13th of July. I'll be arriving the 11th just after noon.
Are there any pubs in the town centre that have (live) jazz or blues music?

Thanks for all the info,

Koen

Lucerne one day in lucerne
Posted: Wed May 23, 2007 10:43 PM UTC
How do you get from Zurich to the starting point of a Mt Pilatus tour by car? With one day in Lucerne before heading on to zermatt would you suggest doing mt pilatus followed by Mount Rigi (if you do that do you need to go back to your car)? Or.. would you do Mount Pilatus and then Mt Titlis (How do you get from one to the other - our car?)? Would we have any time left in Lucerne? How long will it take us to then drive to Zermatt? Any short cuts? Thanks.

Lucerne Mt Pilatus in April 2007
Posted: Sat February 3, 2007 03:15 AM UTC
Hi, I have been researching the option of going to Mt Pilatus in April 2007, but am hoping someone can set me straight.
I visited the http://www.pilatus.ch/ website, which indicated that the cable car will be closed for maintence until November 2007.
From what I have read, both on VT and on this same web, the Cog Wheel train doesnt operate in winter between December-May.

So If I am visiting in April- what options do I have? Or do I simply not visit the mountain?
Can anyone set me straight on this....? Cheers

Lucerne Lucerne vs Engelberg- Which one to stay?
Posted: Sat February 3, 2007 02:38 AM UTC
Hi There, I will be in Switzerland in April 2007 (18th-21st), and wanting to staying the Lucerne area. I had originally thought I would call Lucerne 'home', but am now wondering if Engelberg is the better city to stay in. Any thoughts?
I know its certainly closer for Mt Titlis, but further away for Zurich.
So does anyone have a preference?? Which is the better to stay for three days in?

Please let me know the address and telephone number. Do I need to make an appointment or can I just go to their factory anytime. Any information you can provide would be appreciated. Thank you. Jerry

Some friends and I are spending New Years Eve in Lucerne this year. Can anyone recommend a good bar/club/pub in which to spend it? Also, does anyone know if there will be fireworks or other ways in which the town celebrates?

Thank you!!!

Me and my friend and her two daughters would really like to take a boat ride or cruise on the lake and/or river. We went to the site lakelucerne.com but found it a bit confusing. I would love it if someone would let me know there experience or recommendations. We plan on being there over christmas and thought this would be something nice to do. Thank you in advance.

Lucerne only 2 full days end of november- scenic trains and need tips
Posted: Wed November 1, 2006 06:21 AM UTC
we're staying in Luzern for not quite 3 full days- actually 2 full days and a half day either side. So 4 nights but only 2 full days to travel around. We booked a 4 day saverpass and want to take one of those days to do a scenic trip and were considering Luzern to Interlocken (golden pass) and back and then the other day possible to Mt. Titus. Wondering if we need to book in advance to reserve seats for these trips or can we book on the day? Also do the ferries or boats run this time of year?
Any other suggestions/tips for such a short time would be appreciated. Thank you to ALL in advance for any replies!

Lucerne 4 days in Lucerne
Posted: Mon October 2, 2006 10:54 PM UTC
Hi Guys,

Me and my wife will be in Lucerne for 4 nights in the second week of october. We are coming via Zurich and thought Lucerne is quite centrally located to have the base of our stay.
Since this is our first trip to switzerland, we want to take the beaten track. We have decided to visit Pilatus, Jungfraujoch, Titlis, Lake Lucerne, Lake Brienz, ride on panoramic express, Zurich and Lucerne city. So my questions to the dear members are:

1)Do you think I am trying to cover too much in a short span of 4 days? Can I skip one of the peaks that I have mentioned in favour of some other destination. (Like Rhine falls. though not sure how long the journey is from Lucerne)

2)I do not have a plan B. In case the weather up in the mountains is hostile, I do not really have an idea which other destinations can be visited in Lucerne/interlaken/bern area.

3)Do I need to book in advance for mountain excursions like jungfraujoch and pilatus. Wont it serve alright if I just book the ticket in the evening before or morning of the travel? I plan to buy a swiss saver pass for a couple for 4 days from Zurich airport/station.

Suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Thanks.

Lucerne Train Journey - Clarifications
Posted: Tue September 5, 2006 09:11 AM UTC
Hi,

Me & my wife are planning to visit Interlaken, Lucerne from Paris between 25 th and 28th of Sep 06. It will be of great help, if someone could clarify on this matters.

1) I plan to purchase a swiss pass to travel within Switzerland. I am arriving from Paris to bern. From Bern to interlaken then to lucerne and back to paris. Is there any reservation charges for these travels ? If yes, can I make reservations online or do I have to go to the railway station to do so in advance ?

2)If i arrive in lucerne on 27th morning, can I cover Mt Pilatus and Mt Titlus in 27th only (One day) ? If I have to choose one of them, which one do i choose ?

3) Are Berth Charges extra in night trains ? What could be the rates ?

4) While travelling from paris to bern, can I use the swiss pass, or does it have be after entering swiss ?

Thanks in advance

Lucerne Luggage room on Railway Stations in Switzerland.
Posted: Thu July 20, 2006 07:25 PM UTC
Dear all,
Hi! I will be travelling in next May to switzerland with my parents. We will be there for 15 days. During this period we will have to leave our luugage in Cloak room / Luggage room at stations such as Lucerne, Monteux, Interlaken, and may be Zurich for a day or few hours.
What should be the charges for this service per article of luggage. What precautions to take, if any.
Thanks in advance.

Lucerne Zurich/Lucerne - August 1
Posted: Sat July 1, 2006 07:57 PM UTC
A friend and I are going to spend 2 days in Switzerland... we will be leaving Milan on July 31... where should we take a train to? Lucerne/Zurich area is our preference... but should we spend the night of the 31st somewhere further south in the country on the way?

It seems that August 1 is the Swiss holiday... where would be the best place to be on that day? Lucerne? Zurich? somewhere else? Any good recommendations on a cool place to be for a BBQ or fireworks or the like?

Thanks for any advice and help! we are also looking for a cheap place to stay, such as a backpackers type of place, or someone's residence if they wanted to meet us!
