Piran Camping near Piran
Posted: Mon January 19, 2009 03:34 PM UTC
Hello there

I wonder if anyone has any experience of (tent) camping near to Piran? I've read that the campsite in Piran itself, Jezero Fiesa, can be a bit noisy. Ideally I'd like somewhere a bit more peaceful.

The nearest campsites to Piran that I can find online are:

Camping Belvedere - Dobrava
Autocamping Jadranka - Izola
Camping Strunjan - Portoroz
Kamp Lucija - Portoroz

Does anyone know what any of these are like? Or have any other suggestions?

Many thanks,

Suzanne

Piran Hostel accommodation in Piran
Posted: Mon August 18, 2008 04:14 AM UTC
Can anyone recommend a hostel in Piran that they have stayed at recently? The few reviews that I've read on some websites are either a little outdated or scary with no hostels particularly being recommended. My adult daughter and I would like to spend 2 nights in a hostel there and all we ask is that it be clean and not out there as far as partying goes.

Piran Day trips from Piran?
Posted: Mon April 7, 2008 07:21 PM UTC
Can anyone recommend easy (via boat, bus, or train) day trips from Piran to elsewhere in Slovenia or neighboring Croatia? I'm thinking of spending a night or two in Piran or, perhaps, more if there are good day trips to be had from Piran as a home base. The loose idea is to ferry to Piran from Venice (via Kompas' Prince of Venice cruises) and then bus-train back to Venice via Trieste or ferry back the way we came. Ferries only run once a week in April, so that's why I'm researching day trips; trying to figure out if we should stay for a week in Piran and explore from there or just stay a couple nights and then bus-train it back to Venice.

For example, how easy would it be to bus from Piran for the day to Rovinj? I'm very interested in seeing nearby towns that were also part of the former Venetian Republic. Any towns you can recommend that are easy to get to via Piran by boat or bus (or train?) would be great.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Piran Venice to Piran

I need to get from Piran to Venice on July 13th. Doesn't look like there are any hydrofoils on that day. Is this correct? What is the best way for me to get back to Venice? I would prefer to travel later in the day if possible, to spend more time in Piran.

Piran Looking for a child friendly apartment in Piran or portoroz
Posted: Fri September 16, 2005 02:07 PM UTC
I am looking for a small apartment (1 bedroom or 2 bedroom)in Piran or Portoroz to rent for a week or 2 next september. I know it seems like plannig far ahead but I like to find out and explore ideas before deciding what to do
I would be going by myself with my son who will be 2 then so ideally it should be easy to get to the town, beach etc and not be too expensive
There may be 4 of us going hence looking for either 1 or 2 bed apartment.

I ghave been spoiled by Cefalu (gorgeus place in Sicili where we went last year and are heading to again in 4 days time) where we managed to great apartment withinthe historical town and very near the beach. Bit I would like to change the destination so Piran, Slovenia, Trieste is one of the places I would love to go to next.

Piran apartment in piran - yay or nay?
Posted: Thu July 7, 2005 02:48 PM UTC
Hi Guys,

Just a quick question. I am heading to Piran next week, for a wedding, and have found that accommodation-wise, the town is chock-a-block full!

Except... i have found an apartment for rent, a private deal on the internet. It sounds great, but... there is no specific address listed, nor photos of the building exterior (though, the interior shots look fine), and the owner is not overly forthcoming with info.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Not sure how to proceed...

Thanks!!
