hello,

we are staying in Alghero next week (hooray) and I was wondering if there is a market/shop where we can buy fresh fruit daily. we have spent there a few days last summer but never found anywhere that would sell fruit.
also, are there any salsa clubs in town?

Sardegna driving Alghero to Dorgali
Posted: Wed May 14, 2008 01:08 PM UTC
hello,

could anybody advise on the best route to drive from Alghero to Dorgali???
we will be driving there next week and would like to chose the most scenic route via inland, but also not too confusing, as we do not know the island.
Any idea how long would this journey take (we only hired a little car), we are in no hurry, want to enjoy the journey...

also, coming back to Alghero we were thinking of driving along the coast, is this easy? has anybody tried it? how long would this take us? again, in no hurry, we want to see the best of Sardinia...

thanks so much, any advice would be much appreciated!!!

Alghero Ferries from Alghero
Posted: Sun April 13, 2008 06:54 PM UTC
Hi folks,

I'm staying in Alghero in September for two weeks, and I wondered where else can you get to by ferry or boat from Alghero for day trips? I've heard that it's possible to get a ferry to Corsica - is this correct?

Are there any other places accessible by ferry or boat for a day trip or overnight trip?

Many thanks.

Sardegna Where to go?
Posted: Thu April 3, 2008 04:31 PM UTC
We're trying to book a family holiday for 6 people (of 3 generations) to Sardinia in August this year, and having never visited the island before we're having difficulty deciding where to stay for the best. We're looking at Cannigione as well as Isola Rossa. If anybody has any advice, reviews or information about the resorts it would be very useful. We've searched the web, but its not easy to find personal opinions of the resort destinations. We'd hope to hire a car to explore the island, but also want somewhere with enough character and things to see and do as a base.
We've looked possibly at the Villa Pineta, as well as Residence Hotel Riva Azzura in Cannigione, and the Hotel Relax Torreruja at Isola Rossa. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance x

Alghero Alghero Advice
Posted: Fri March 28, 2008 12:38 PM UTC
Hi, can anyone tell me what the weather is like in Alghero at the moment? My parents are flying out on Sunday and don't know whether to pack summer or winter clothes. Any advice on places of interest to visit would be appreciated as it looks like it is not the main tourist season their at this time of year so will many places be open? How easy is it to visit Corsica? Most advice seems to be to hire a car, will it be very difficult to get around and see places without one? Sorry lots of questions, last one though, does anyone know what the transport is like from the airport to Alghero?

Sardegna Nuoro/Arbatax area
Posted: Fri March 14, 2008 04:13 PM UTC
Hello all,

we will be travelling in Sardinia in May and wondering if somebody knows the Nuoro/Arbatax area. I have found nice B&B which is called Fico D'India (thanks Zeus Zeus) and we were wondering if its worth to drive there from Alghero through inland. We want to see the 'real Sardinia' along the way and hoping to find amazing beaches around Nuoro?
Please help if you have any info.

many thanks,

Cągliari Trip to Sardinia
Posted: Tue February 5, 2008 05:49 PM UTC
Hello, I am planning a trip to Sardinia and am strongly considering Cagliari. Can someone advise what the beaches are like in the beginning of June, and what type of choices I have? Also, I am considering staying at the T Hotel, and although it looks great, I want to make sure it is not too far out of the way of things. I don't mind a 10-20 minute trip everyday and I dont mind a bit of a walk as well, but want to make sure I am not upwards of an hour away. Any info you can provide would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Olbia car rental in olbia / sardegna
Posted: Wed October 24, 2007 08:29 PM UTC
Hi @all.

I am looking for a car rental in olbia,

time set 2007/11/01 2007/11/09

Just want something with passenger insurrance and deposit of max. 500€

Is this possible? Here in germany all rentals want a deposit of 850-1200€ which is much high.

I would also pay for a full car insurance (for thievery/accidents) if this would lower deposit.

Cheers, gunnar

I'm planning to hire a car and drive around untill I get tired and than only look for a place to stay over night, will it work this way or should I always book a place in advance?

And another question... are the touristic sites open all year round or only in the high season?

Will appreciate any tips :]

Sardegna Eating out for the budget concious
Posted: Fri August 31, 2007 01:37 PM UTC
My boyfriend and will be travelling to Sardinia 27 Sept - 1 Oct and are planning on staying at a campsite in Palau. It would appear that the beautiful Costa Smerelda area we will be staying in is also known as THE most EXPENSIVE area as well... We are travelling on a budget and would like to know if there are reasonably priced restaurants otherwise we may have to re-think where we stay in Sardinia (perhaps Alghero?) or any other suggestions?

I would appreciate any advice.

Thanks in advance

Sardegna visiting Sardinia in November
Posted: Mon July 16, 2007 02:15 PM UTC
We are thinking about renting a villa Costa Smeralda in Sardinia in November. We know that it is the off season. Does the area completely shut down? We prefer fewer tourists, but want to know if some of the restaurants, food stores and shops would be open.
thanks!

My boyfriend and I are travelling to Alghero for a week mid July and are looking for recommendations of nice places to camp. We are happy to travel about if anyone knows of any good camping spots further away from Alghero as well. Would also welcome any tips about great beaches / cheapish places to visit.
Thanks for the advice!

Sardegna Trip to Sardegna
Posted: Fri July 6, 2007 08:27 AM UTC
Hi! We're newlyweds, going to Sardegna on appr. 24/08-04/09 for belated honeymoon. We'd like to find some nice accomodation (B&B or appartment) not in a very crowded place. Some private place and beautiful beaches are what we're looking for.
Also we would appreciate any information about ferry (reasonable price) from Civitavecchia (we are traveling with a car).
Thank you,

Sardegna Only 6 days to enjoy Sardegna.....
Posted: Tue July 3, 2007 05:24 PM UTC
Yes we know is not enough, but it's what we have. Anyway, is not so far from Barcelona (were all we live) and we surely want to return.

Plane and accommodation are sorted out. We found a nice apartment in the Old Town of Alghero and we are flying with Ryanair.

So, we have 6 days to fill in between (6-12 August). We plan to spend in Alghero o nearby the first and last days. Probably rent a car for the days in between, or do a mix of daytrips with public transport/daytrips with car.

I'm reading info online and here at VT, but I would like to know some first-hand experiences.

We definitely want to visit Capo Caccia /Grotta di Nettuno. Is better to go there by boat? Where to get info about the boats?

As well, we have been told hat with a car, and leaving early/returning late, it will be possible to visit Cagliari in one day. Any thoughts?

Where else you suggest for daytrips from Alghero? I know this question is vague, but we are open to all kind of suggestions: We are a group of 5 friends, aged 30s to 40s, we love mountaineering and light hiking (any interesting route there?), some like snorkeling, some just lying on the beach, some of us are interested on archeological sites... so virtually anything may be a good possibility, and maybe some daytrips will not be all together.

Last but not least, all of us like enjoying good food and wine. Not interested on wild nightlife (we would have chosen another place) but any hints regarding live music or nice bars would be appreciated too.

Sorry for asking so many questions! Thank you!

Sardegna Public Transport & Private rooms in Olbia/S. Teresa/Costa Smeralda
Posted: Thu June 28, 2007 07:07 PM UTC
Hi there,

I'll be in Sardinia in the second week in September. I don't want to hire a car so I'm wondering if it is possible to move between places in Costa Smeralda using local buses. Particularly if the beaches are accessible by local public transport. I also would like to find out if there are private rooms to rent for a couple of days in each place along the way. Many thanks!
