We are 6 girls visiting Palmero in May, is anybody able to recommend any good bars, clubs and restaurants. I know that dance music is very popular in Palmero but are there any clubs that play RnB, soul, pop etc.

Any good Sicilan restaurants?

any suggestions would be appreciated.

1) do you know about a good accomodations in the city centre?
2) are there nice beaches in the city centre or close?
3) do you know aboout trips to beautiful places in the area with public transportation

Hi! I'll be taking a cruise and one of the stops in is Catania. There are organized outings with the cruise line but i was hoping my boyfriend and i could tour on our own. I was just wondering if it's going to be difficult for us to navigate around-pretty much having no idea where we're going when we step off the boat. Just curious if anyone has any tips or advice!

My husband and I are taking a tour that includes Mt Etna and ends in Modica. However, we want to end the tour at Mt Etna, since we are staying in Taormina for the night. Is there any public transportation from Mt Etna to Taormina and, if so, what is the approximate cost? Thanks!

We will arrive on a saturday evening in Palermo. what are the opening hours of shops? will the markets be open on sunday? We will rent a villa from sunday and need some food!

How can we get from Catania Airport to Letojanni? I know that there are three options: 1. taxi; 2. train; 3. bus. Which one is the most effective way (i.e. value for money)?

I have researched the bus website and see that there is a bus that goes from Cantaia Airport to Taormina and then another one that goes from Taormina to Letojanni (on http://www.interbus.it/). How can I reserve/get tickets??

I don't have much information on the train or taxi options. Does anyone know about these?

Is there a car rental company at the cruise ship port? Would you recommend renting a car to drive to Ventimiglia di Sicilia (about 20 miles south of Palermo) or hiring a driver and car?

9 of us are in Messina on a cruise in July and would like to go on a private boat trip around the islands, can anybody recommend a company that I could try? Ideally we would like to go out towards Stromboli.

Will be in Barcelona,Palma,Tunis,Malta,Palermo on Mediterranean cruise in 4 days. Please advise what the weather will be like. How to prepare for clothing.

We are currently debating over a sun/beach/cultural holiday to Sicily. Wondering if anyone can give any first hand advice as to a couple of beaches (be they white sandy stretches or even postcard swimming places we can hire a boat to)where we should consider staying near - this could include the Aeolians too. We would probably thinking about a 3 week stay in all - and perhaps a week in 3 places as a base would be the way to go. Grazi!

Hi. We're planning on staying in this hotel in June. Got in touch with them. Though their method of booking or payment I have never heard of, They gave me a name address and method's through "registered transfer" what is this and how does it work? Has anybody done this through this hotel or any similar around the same area? Im a bit confused. Usually it's through a deposit by credit card maybe or cash...any info please. Thanks in advance

I plan to visit Castelmola in June and would like to know what public transport is available from the village to neighbouring resorts or communities.

I will be travelling to Palermo with a female friend in September.

I would be grateful for some safety tips for women in Palermo - including whether going out at night is advisable.

We (a family of five) will be spending five days in Sicily in June. Our base will be Taormina. We really want to visit Tropea and Soverato in Calabria. By train it is a four and a half hour trip each way. We are nervous about renting a car in another country. Does anyone know of any day trips or busses to these places?

2. How long will it take to get to Taormina from Messina by car?

I have a day at leisure while staying in Taormina on May 2, 2008. I would like to go from there to Reggio de Calabria to see the Riace Warriors in the Museo Nazionale della Magna Grecia. Can anyone give me an idea how I can arrange this? I'll need transportation from and back to Taormina, and preferably an English-speaking guide at the Museum.

We are not sure what to pack? is it light sweater weather or coat?

We are 5 and will possibly have no car. Will be taking the trains. Want to do at least 1 day trips. Please help as to where go?. and cost? any ideas. We rented a house in Casteldaccia. Tried to find out if there are any thing to see and do in Casteldaccia via web, not finding much.
Is it okay to do a train from Palermo into Casteldaccia and then a taxi?. We leave on the 16th of this month.

Having a few free days in the middle part of May I am thinking of taking the ferry from Malta to Sicily.

Never having been there and not overly knowledgeable on this island, I have tried to compile some Itinerary to follow.

Normally I would sift trough much of what is written on the Sicily pages.
However I am conscious that when I travel to new places I generally end up wishing I made some revisions to the trip encompassing the new knowledge.

I am looking for such advise.
Things that after having done the trip and seen the sights you wished you had done some things differently.

Time could be 1 to 4 days, expense flexible, and comfortable as much with isolated picturesque areas as much as hustle-bustle of towns.

I am happy to rent a car and can get by with spoken Italian.
Any pointers would be absolutely wonderful.

Could some help with these questions:
1. What in Messina is a must see or do?
2. Is Taormina worth going to? If so, how do I get there if I am not doing a cruise tour? I have read that the buses and trains are not reliable, is this still true?
3. Would it be better to rent a car and simply drive to the different sites?
4. Is there a car rental place near the cruise ship terminal?
5. Are there any beaches worth stopping at?

We are two couples, all in our seventies, who are planning to spend three weeks travelling from Rome to Sicily and back in October, probably by car, although that's still open. We would appreciate any information and tips about weather, must sees, etc. One of us has some minor leg problems--can't walk very fast or very far. It's been suggested we rent a wheel chair. Is this possible?

Will be staying at a villa between Palermo and Bagheria from April 5-13. Have a rental car and plan to make day trips. Agrigento appears to be a reasonable day excursion. Would Piazza Armerina be doable (the roads don't appear to be as direct)? Are there any other doable, must-see but maybe not so well known places we can drive to from our home base. We will, of course, spend a day exploring Palermo, and must visit Santa Flavia (ancestral family place), Bagheria, Cefalu. Scenery, history, good food, friendly people are appreciated and most welcome.

How difficult would it be to make a day trip from Taormina/Catania/Siracusa to Agrigento? We have two nights in Taormina, two in Siracusa, and one last night in Catania before our flight out. Is it doable? Unfortunately I don't think we have enough days......

We will be coming off a ship for one day in Messina. What is the closest beach that we could get to and how?I've read that we could catch a train at the MEssina Centrale and go to Taormina -
Is there a beach near there? and how long would the trip be?
Any other suggestions for just a one day adventure would be welcomed.

I will be flying from Palermo in June and haven't been able to find any bus routes from Cefalu - can anyone help?

I'd also be interested in suggestions on how to get from Giardini-Naxos to Cefalu.
