Does anyone know where by the cruise docks to get a taxi to Taormina and how much they charge. Also, can you easiliy get a taxi driver to agree to be at Taormina at a certain time to get you back to the cruise ship? If not, are there plenty of taxis in Taormina? Thanks. We will be traveling over Thanksgiving this year.
Thinking about heading to Sicily this jan, is that a smart move or should I wait until later in the year?? Is the weather very nice at that time of the year or is it just as cold as in the states??
Would appreciate your advice in helping me decide whether I shall spend my next 5 day holiday in Giardini Naxos or Taormina.I shall be travelling with my husband and 2 year old son, and would like to go somewhere not extremely expensive, with good food and with a good number of shops and restaurant since we wouldn't like to stay inside the hotel in the evening. We're going in March 2010

Which town or area would you suggest makes a good hub for visiting Sicily? We are not into night life/clubs, etc. We are into art/architecture/culture. We don't need amenities such as loads of restaurants but would like somewhere with a choice of two or three and also near places to buy food to cook i.e. some sort of market or grocery store. We would like somewhere that offers good public transportation to other parts of the island. We are thinking of spending about four weeks, so does it make more sense to have two hubs? Any and all suggestions are gratefully received.

I am planning to be in Catania from Thursday 15th to Thursday 22nd October.
I want to find first a public library where I can study during the day and second in case it is warm a lido still open at this time of year?? (I am from England).
Anyone resident there can tell me anything interesting that tourists usually don't know.

hello there, any suggestions for a quite fancy restaurant in Catania? Being from Tuscany where we have great food/wine I am looking forward to not having just a great service but great food also (possible with fresh fish).
Any tips?
Thank you in advance
Hi,im thinking of catching a train from Rome to Sicily, hiring a car and having a look around for a week or so,is this possible, is there a train service that links up with a ferry and would the ferry drop us somwhere that car hire is available. My boyfriend and I have booked flights to Tripani 10th - 17th October.
We'd like a really relaxing holiday by a lovely beach with clear sea. We won't have a car but both enjoy cycling.
I'd absolutely love to stay on Favignana but my boyfriend is worried about it being too cold. He has heard that the weather will be better on the south coast. I'm a bit worried that the south is a bit ugly! We really are confused!
Does anyone have a solution? I'd really appreciate any advice.
Hi
Can someone pls tell me the best way to go from Fontanarossa airport to the city market of Catania, how much it would cost and how long it should take?? Thanks
I'm considering a short break to Trapani - just a couple of days. As I won't have a car, I'm interested in finding out how easy it will be to get about. Buses seem to be more convenient in trains, but I haven't found timetables, so I'm not sure how regular these are. As it's a short trip, I'd prefer to go elsewhere if getting from place to place is likely to be difficult.
Is it easy to get into Trapani and beyond if you stay outside the town? In Erice, for example?
I also wonder if buses into town meet the Ryanair flights? The airport website mentioned buses arriving after AirOne flights, but the overwhelming majority of flights to the airport seem to be Ryanair. Does anyone know?
The last time I was in Europe I brought home a bottle of Cinnamon and Clove flavor liquore (Tentura)and loved it. I have been unable to get it here in the U.S. I will be going to Europe again soon and would love to bring home a few more bottles. Does anyone know if I can buy this in Messina? Thanks, Irv
I'm going to Sicily with my boyfriend for a week mid September. We're poor teachers so are going to take our tent and camp! Please, can anyone recommend a campsite not too far from the airport, near the beach, romantic and with showers? I've been looking on google but there are so many campsites and I'm confused!

I am taking my two children (4 and 7 years) and my mother to stay in Sicilia from 5 - 16 october.
We will arrive in Trapani and are not planning to hire a car. We want to stay somewhere near a beach, but still we want it to be a cosy small town... Have been thinking about Marsala or Cefalu, anybody who will give me some advice or inputs? What is your favorite place to stay in Sicilia?
I have earlier stayed in Taormina and Catania area, I love Sicilia and will always come back!
My boyfriend and I are planning to be in Sicily between the 9-15th of September this year and would like some suggestions from you lovely people! We are flying in and out of Palermo and staying there on the 9th/10th and the night of the 14th. In between, we have the evening of the 11th, the 12th, the 13th and the morning of the 14th (have a hire car). We thought we would concentrate on Western Sicily (we would like to drive around and be quite relaxed): Erice/Trapani (one night), Selinunte (one night), drive through Marsala and maybe one night in Enna in central Sicily. Is this doable? Any suggestions? Good hotels seem to be few and far between in Erice/Trapani, though we seem to have some options in Selinunte and Marsala. Should we go to Taormina/Catania instead?
Any suggestions? We are far more interested in having a lovely time than ticking "seen" boxes. Any help re itinerary and places to stay/eat would be most welcome!
I'll visit Agrigento by car. I read there is a parking near the entrance to valley of the temples. But on the way back I want to stop and see city Duomo. Where it is better to park a car in maximum proximity to Duomo ? Need Your recommendation.
Hi, I am going to Trapani at the end of September. I would like to spend a few days in Trapani and then visit Capo San Vito. Does anyone know if a bus goes from Trapani to Capo San Vito?
I read that the train station does not have any luggage storage. But I read it is possible to leave my luggage at Cefalu's Tourist Information Office (Corso Ruggero 77). Is it really possible? And when the Tourist Information Office is open?
