Visiting Trieste in July Posted: Fri April 18, 2008 09:50 AM UTC
Hello!
I am a retired NYPD Detective currently working in Iraq with the Department of State. in 1997 my wife and I traveled through Trieste and several local Police Officers helped us out with locating a hotel, restaurant and auto repair shop. They were very helpful and friendly and the police brotherhood that stretched across the many miles was refreshing to me. I plan, once again, to visit Triest for a couple of days in July (2008) with my wife and this time will bring our 4 youngest children. I tried to e-mail the hotel we stayed at the last time (Hotel Milano) but they ignored 2 e-mails from me. I was wondering if anyone had an e-mail for the local Trieste Police, so that I could e-mail them and possibly coordinate with them my visit. I have several pictures of my wife and I with the local police that assisted us. I'd like to send them these pictures in my e-mail and see if these guys are still around. Thanks!

Getting to Sacile Posted: Sun April 13, 2008 07:41 AM UTC
Hello!
I am wondering if anyone has any info on how to get to Sacile by public transport. I will be coming from Milan and would like to take an afternoon train/bus so that I arrive in the evening. I will be staying with some distant relatives and will stay there for a few day and head into Venice to visit there too.
I would like to take a direct way from Milan to Sacile, but if not I can head into Venice early from Milan then take a bus/train into Sacile at night. I am not sure if there is a train station there or in a neighboring city.
If anyone has any info please let me know where to find it.
Thanks

Can anyone advise if it is possible to use Cividale as a base to explore the surrounding mountains, say through a series of day trips. Also, are there are any refugi within a reasonable distance.

sylwia1976 Posted: Thu January 17, 2008 02:40 PM UTC
Hi, my name is Sylwia and I’m having my wedding celebration in Trieste on the 6th September. As I haven’t been to Trieste before, I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on what Italian restaurants are good for our celebration.
We will have about 20guests so ideally we are hoping to have a good place to eat with good atmosphere, music… and of course good food.
If anyone could provide some advice on this matter it would be much appreciated.
Thank You
Sylwia

Bus to Porec Posted: Thu September 13, 2007 03:28 AM UTC
I need to travel from Venice to Porec on Sept. 24, 2007. I understand that the ferry does not sail that day from Venice. My next option is to take a train from Venice to Trieste 910 am to 1113am and then take a bus from Trieste to Porec.
How do I find out the bus schedule? On Sept. 27, I need to go from Porec to Grado.
How do I do this ? Is there a ferry for this day and trip? Leaving Sept 17 -
Can someone help me? Thanks - Anne

IF we go to Trieste for a couple of days .. Posted: Mon August 27, 2007 08:15 PM UTC
.. and I am very keen, is it easy to find James Joyce pilgrimage sites? Ask at the tourist info booth perhaps?
Or maybe there is a guided walk?
Also - any other literary pilgrimage sites?
And maybe a clue or two about some great but cheapish accomodation?
If you can help, much appreciated.

Trieste Cruise AShip Terminal Posted: Thu August 9, 2007 01:37 PM UTC
Just wondering if anyone knew where the cruise ship terminal was in Trieste.
We have asked the ship lines, MSC, and they have not responded. Also, would anyone have any idea how long it would take by taxi to reach the airport in Trieste as we are on a very tight schedule when the ship docks.
Thanks for your help.

Cruise ship - airport. Posted: Sun August 5, 2007 11:57 AM UTC
Hello, We will be taking a cruise from Trieste on September 17th and returning on the 24th. We will be arriving in Trieste by train from Venice.
Our problem is we have not be able to find out how far the airport is from where the cruise lines dock in Trieste. We just have a limited time to get from the ship to the airport when we dock but if it is a great distance we will have to book a hotel for the night and fly back to Canada the next day. Any help you could provide, regarding distance from where the cruise ships dock to the airport, would be greatly appreciated. My e-mail is anmartin1@rogers.com
Thank you.

From Venice to Trieste Posted: Tue July 31, 2007 04:55 PM UTC
We are four Canadian seniors that will be taking a cruise leaving from Trieste on September 17th. We land in Venice and will be spending a few days there before going to Trieste. A couple of questions for which we can't find an answer - Is a train the only means of transportation between Venice and Trieste or are there boats/ships that make that journey? Are there a lot of docks in Trieste as we can't find a number for the dock from which the ship leaves? We will be flying back to Canada through Germany and will be leaving from Trieste. We were wondering if the airport is far from the docks as we have a limited time to make the flight from the time the ship docks.Your help would be greatly appreciated. You can e-mail me at anmartin1@rogers.com Thank you and we look forward to our visit very much.

Travel Venice to Trieste to Piran Posted: Sun July 22, 2007 03:13 PM UTC
We arrive at Marco Polo Airport (August in the morning)and want to take a train to Trieste. Should we buy tickets in advance or on the day we arrive? From Trieste, we would like to go to Piran. Do the buses run regularly during the week and how long does it take? A taxi is expensive and Ferry schedule from Venice to Piran is inconvenient time. Thank you.

Grado or Lignano Sabbiadoro? Posted: Mon July 9, 2007 02:04 PM UTC
Which one is better for a short stopover for some sun and sea.
We are travelling from Bavaria via Austria, Friuli-Venezia, Slovenia to Hungary on a car with a huge caravan. Are there any nice camping sites in the area or is it possible just to wild camp for a night or two?
Thanks a lot in advance!

Shipping and Packing up - Where to sell my secondhand furniture etc. Posted: Tue June 5, 2007 07:27 AM UTC
Hello,
We are packing up our apartment in Trieste and cannot transport furniture, kitchen wear etc. back home. Would there be a noticeboard somewhere (perhaps students working in Trieste) where I can put up a classified ad?
Also, I have had a lot of trouble trying to locate a shipping company that charges reasonable rates for us to transport some of our household goods back to Australia. Most of the ones I found with competitive pricing ship from England.
Thanks a million for your help.
