My fiance and I will be in Rome in January. We'll be staying in the Aventino Hill area and would like recommendations for good restaurants away from the touristy areas, preferably where the locals go. The recommendations do not have to be close to this neighborhood as we'll be all over the city during our stay. We'll consider a spot in a touristy area if it is a place we absolutely cannot afford to miss:-)
Do you know of any reliable and good website for booking a cab from the Port at Civitavecchi to via dell'Arco De Tolomei in Trastevere? I already have a cost of 120euro (A$196).....anything cheaper? We are in our early 60's and fit.....but I don't know if catching a train and bus etc. would be a bit awkward.
Our reason to travel to Rome in August was to escape the Australian winter BUT now I am hearing so much about how hot it gets in Rome in August....just how hot does it get???
We don't mind walking everywhere BUT is the heat that bad that it makes it unpleasant?? We are in our early 60's and fit.
Hi,I'm planning to go to the opera on New Years Eve. The performance ends at around 9.30pm. Does anybody have a suggestion for a restaurant? I want to be on the streets by midnight so I am not looking for special dinners with 7 course meals :)
Considering taking Leonardo Express from Fiumicino to Termini station and then train to Florence. Is it difficult to navigate around Termini between gates? How much time should I allow to make connections in Termini station? I can not find any gate information for trains to Florence S.M.N. Thanks.
CREDIT CARDS Posted: Thu November 5, 2009 01:25 AM UTC
Need comments/advice on giving credit card details in a word document. Apparently, the B&B where we are intending to stay in the Trastevere area have requested the details on the booking form (word document) - not to pay for the accommodation up front - but for guarantee only. Is it safe to give my credit card details this way?
We are spending the Christmas holidays in Rome. Our plane leaves on January 1st at 9PM. Does anyone have an idea for spending our last day in the city? Apparently all the museums are closed that day.
My husband and I both in our early 60's fit and healthy will be staying in Rome for 4 days in 2010. Originally, I thought of staying somewhere near the Trevi Fountain and after doing some googling on the internet,I came across a B & B called Arco del Lauro in Trastevere..........it sounds like it could be an interesting place to stay.
my friend and i are looking for inexpensive transportation from cruise ship ports on our cruise so we don't have to spend ~$1000.00 for the cruise excursions. the cruise is from barceloma-cannes-rome-confu-dubrovnik-livomo-naples-venice. if anyone can help-please do. thanks cnmom
What is the best but not very expensive place/district to live in Rome? Or could you just let me know which places belong to those we should certainly avoid?
Me and my family (two kids :-) are moving to Rome for two years. We're going to rent an appartment. We are thinking about something in the suburbs, in nice environment of course, but close to a big road and train/metro station. We will be often moving to city centre by train/metro and outside Rome by car. Prefarably with easy way to Rome Fumicino.
BTW. we are moving in January, so if you know someone with an appartment to rent, let me know :-)
I am leaving for Rome wednesday, we decided to go only with hand laguage, not to lose time waiting at the airport, please advise what exactly to pack for Thursday Friday Saturday, please inform me what eactly the local forecast is, you know local newspaper, tv, because on internet it is confusing, says it will be rainy and covered ,but gives a picture of sun and clouds, then 18-19c , which is actually warm for the time of the year.
After some relentless searching on google and other sites, I have tentatively decided upon staying at the Royal House Hotel in Rome for Easter weekend. Unfortunately, this hotel doesn't seem to show on most booking websites--booking.com, venere.com, expedia, agoda, etc etc. I even went to the website to see if I could book a room directly. No progress. Is this hotel still in business? I see there is an email addy I could contact them directly, but I didn't want to do that if they aren't running the business anymore and wouldn't be able to access my email. Can anyone who is familiar with that neighbourhood let me know if they are still in business and if the email addy is functioning? (and could you put the info here so I can confirm that I am looking at the right hotel?!) Thanks!
I come to Rome next week, i see the weather will be not realy good for 4 - days on arow, so if it rains heavily, there is no enjoyment to go sighseeing, please advise for indoor activities, also which is the nicest shopping area in the centrum, thanks
I understand that the Vatican museum and Sistine Chapel are free on the last Sun. of the month (11/29) Because of this, will the lines be so long because I can not buy tickets ahead of time? We will arrive in Rome at noon on Sat. 11/28. Would we be better to try to see Vatican and Sistine on Sat. afternoon, buying tickets ahead of time? I am so confused about what to do about this. Help please.
hey i have got a job offer in terracina to work as a nanny in a few weeks time and i know nothing about this place.

My wife and I are in our seventies and will be in Rome early next year. We will be travelling through to Paris en route to London, before returning to Australia.
I have been quoted a fare of $aud 613 via train. I am having a problem finding a "coach" or similar fare on the Net......can anybody please give me an idea what it would cost to travel by express (yet comfortable) coach\bus from Rome to Paris? An idea of how long the trip would take would also be appreciated.
I am just enquiring how to get from the airport to the hotel mentioned above? how much is the train? would you need to get a bus after you get off the train or can you walk to this hotel from Train??
