Rome Recommendations for restaurants in Rome
Posted: Sat November 7, 2009 04:54 AM UTC
My fiance and I will be in Rome in January. We'll be staying in the Aventino Hill area and would like recommendations for good restaurants away from the touristy areas, preferably where the locals go. The recommendations do not have to be close to this neighborhood as we'll be all over the city during our stay. We'll consider a spot in a touristy area if it is a place we absolutely cannot afford to miss:-)

Thanks

Rome Taxi/transportation from Port at Civitavecchi to Trastevere
Posted: Fri November 6, 2009 10:48 PM UTC
Do you know of any reliable and good website for booking a cab from the Port at Civitavecchi to via dell'Arco De Tolomei in Trastevere? I already have a cost of 120euro (A$196).....anything cheaper? We are in our early 60's and fit.....but I don't know if catching a train and bus etc. would be a bit awkward.

Rome Train from Fiumicino to Florence
Posted: Thu November 5, 2009 01:54 AM UTC
Considering taking Leonardo Express from Fiumicino to Termini station and then train to Florence. Is it difficult to navigate around Termini between gates? How much time should I allow to make connections in Termini station? I can not find any gate information for trains to Florence S.M.N. Thanks.

Rome CREDIT CARDS
Posted: Thu November 5, 2009 01:25 AM UTC
Need comments/advice on giving credit card details in a word document. Apparently, the B&B where we are intending to stay in the Trastevere area have requested the details on the booking form (word document) - not to pay for the accommodation up front - but for guarantee only. Is it safe to give my credit card details this way?

Rome Where to stay in Rome.....
Posted: Tue November 3, 2009 10:16 AM UTC
My husband and I both in our early 60's fit and healthy will be staying in Rome for 4 days in 2010. Originally, I thought of staying somewhere near the Trevi Fountain and after doing some googling on the internet,I came across a B & B called Arco del Lauro in Trastevere..........it sounds like it could be an interesting place to stay.

Thoughts/comments please.

Rome Where to settle in Rome?
Posted: Mon November 2, 2009 11:05 AM UTC
What is the best but not very expensive place/district to live in Rome? Or could you just let me know which places belong to those we should certainly avoid?

Me and my family (two kids :-) are moving to Rome for two years. We're going to rent an appartment. We are thinking about something in the suburbs, in nice environment of course, but close to a big road and train/metro station. We will be often moving to city centre by train/metro and outside Rome by car. Prefarably with easy way to Rome Fumicino.

BTW. we are moving in January, so if you know someone with an appartment to rent, let me know :-)

Rome Royal House Hotel--Still in business?
Posted: Mon November 2, 2009 06:56 AM UTC
After some relentless searching on google and other sites, I have tentatively decided upon staying at the Royal House Hotel in Rome for Easter weekend. Unfortunately, this hotel doesn't seem to show on most booking websites--booking.com, venere.com, expedia, agoda, etc etc. I even went to the website to see if I could book a room directly. No progress. Is this hotel still in business? I see there is an email addy I could contact them directly, but I didn't want to do that if they aren't running the business anymore and wouldn't be able to access my email. Can anyone who is familiar with that neighbourhood let me know if they are still in business and if the email addy is functioning? (and could you put the info here so I can confirm that I am looking at the right hotel?!) Thanks!

Rome Vatican on Nov 29
Posted: Tue October 27, 2009 07:06 PM UTC
I understand that the Vatican museum and Sistine Chapel are free on the last Sun. of the month (11/29) Because of this, will the lines be so long because I can not buy tickets ahead of time? We will arrive in Rome at noon on Sat. 11/28. Would we be better to try to see Vatican and Sistine on Sat. afternoon, buying tickets ahead of time? I am so confused about what to do about this. Help please.

Rome Recommendations for travel Rome to Paris
Posted: Mon October 26, 2009 07:17 AM UTC
My wife and I are in our seventies and will be in Rome early next year. We will be travelling through to Paris en route to London, before returning to Australia.

I have been quoted a fare of $aud 613 via train. I am having a problem finding a "coach" or similar fare on the Net......can anybody please give me an idea what it would cost to travel by express (yet comfortable) coach\bus from Rome to Paris? An idea of how long the trip would take would also be appreciated.

Thanks...........\\
