Bergamo SHARE TAXI BERGAMO - MALCESINE
Posted: Sun May 11, 2008 08:29 AM UTC
Hi
I am flying with my husband into Bergamo airport on Fri 30 May to stay in Malcesine for a week. As I am pregnant we can't face doing the journey by public transport, are not keen on driving ourselves and are blanching at the cost of a taxi - cheapest quote I've had is 145 E each way (not too bad compared to some others!).
We would be interested in sharing the cost of a taxi transfer if anyone is travelling on the same date/s to a similar destination? Our flight arrives in Bergamo 1500h.
Thanks

Bellagio Eating at a Reasonable Price in Bellagio
Posted: Sat May 10, 2008 02:06 AM UTC
We are traveling to the Lake Como area (staying in Menaggio) and will want to spend some time in Bellagio. There are six of us and I am picking up the tab. (I am a good parent!) Can anyone recommend some great eateries at a reasonable price? Also, if you are familiar with Menaggio and can answer the same question for that wonderful little town, I would greately appreciate it!

Lago di Garda Buses from Gardaland

Does anyone know of any kind of transport from Gardaland to Garda after the night parade? I tried searching for the buses, but it seems they stop way before the parade. What do you suggest?

Milan My Last Chance for the Last Supper
Posted: Tue May 6, 2008 04:44 PM UTC
My wife and I will be in Milan beginning July 10, 2008. The fine folks at Perillo cancelled our tour and put us on one leaving a day earlier. I got tickets to the Last Supper online for Saturday, July 12. Now our only opportunity to see it would be on Friday, July 11. There are still many tickets available on Friday, but not many on Saturday. If you are interested in going on Saturday and want guaranteed tickets, I would be happy to help you reserve for Friday and then trade you for my Saturday tickets... It's only $16 Euros, but a Euro's a Euro, no?

Milan Hotel in Porta Romana area
Posted: Tue May 6, 2008 05:55 AM UTC
I'm looking for a nice, but affordable hotel in the Porta Romana area of Milano for May 11 or 12. I'm visiting someone who lives on Viale Sabotino, and would like to stay as close as possible. I read online that the Hotel Porta Romana is pretty terrible, so that would not be a possibility.

Monza Camping in Monza for the Grand Prix weekend
Posted: Sun May 4, 2008 06:05 PM UTC
I'm coming to the F1 GP in September, but won't be arriving until late Friday night. The campsite at monza autodroma only has 220 spaces and advise arriving by the Tuesday, which obviously I can't. I believe there is a large temporary campsite set up just for that weekend, and reservations are not taken. But will there be space on the Friday night if I just turn up? Or does anyone know of any other campsites nearby (<2km)that I can pre-book? (And might be a little quieter!)

We will be spending a week in Lago di Garda, and since I'll be travelling with my 7 month old boy, I prefer to join organised excursions, rather than driving. Would you please tell me any tour operators from where I can book my excursions?

Lombardy Our planned itinerary - would like to hear comments and suggetions
Posted: Wed April 30, 2008 07:04 PM UTC
Hi,
maybe this forum fed up with those messages- but maybe my plan will actually give some others nice ideas.
we are a couple with a 11 month old baby - with a rented car.

03/06/2008 arriving malpensa at about 11:00 morning driving straight to stresa
To visit the isole borromee – only 2 islands – it will be hard with a pushcart – so we will maybe take the backpack… just relax and get use to a foreign country.
04/06/2008 mount mottarone and orta lake – on this day there is a market there. – at evening planning to drive all the way to bardolino in garda lake to our hotel.
05/06/2008 this Is Thursday – a good day to visit the garda villages – lazise, sirmione limone and maclhense.
06/06/2008 – Friday – good day to go to gardaland
Maybe will switch those two days.
07/06/2008 – south of dolomits. Lago di tovel and Madonna di Campiglio
08/06/2008 – Sunday – a good day for a park :
PARCO GIARDINO SIGURTA and borgetto.

In one of garda lake days – we planning to go to " MEDIEVAL TIMES" for a dinner.

09/06/2008 – Monday – good day to start the visit in Venice – we will take the train or a car (didn't decide yet)To Venice – for two (!) nights – with the baby , with the pushcart, with the backpack.
10/06/2008 keep on wondering venice and visit burano maybe morano too
11/06/2008 leaving Venice –to bergamo – or to iseo lake –or another night in garda - for a last night in italy. Probably bergamo !
12/06/2008 waking up – making some short trips around the sleeping area so we will get back to the malpensa airport to fly at 19:00 – I guess will be In the airport around 16:00. to return the car etc…

Our goal –
Not to many driving hours for the baby.
Easy visits with pushcart.
Venice – a must for us, the young parents.
Eat many pasta, pizza and ice creams.

We would like to hear as many comments as you can write ;-)

Thank you all for your input.

Lago di Garda ferries in the lake
Posted: Tue April 29, 2008 10:09 AM UTC
hi,

is it comfortable to "jump" from one village to another in the lakes - or it's prefererd to do that with a rented car?
we will have a car while our stay arround lazise or bardolino, and wandered whether to ride in the car for exapmle to LIMONE, or Sirmione - in stead of the ferry.
does the ferry stations are close to the center of attractions in those towns?
a distance walk (with a pushcart and a baby)?

Thank you very much.

Lago Maggiore travling with a baby in a pushcar in Maggiore
Posted: Tue April 29, 2008 09:58 AM UTC
hi,
i wanted to ask whether a trip to the Isole Borromee is accesible to a pushcart (a baby cart).
what is actually in those Isole Borromee - can we just stroll and wander around streets - without entering the palaces and the gardens?
or the only thing you can do on those Isoles is to enter the palaces and the gardens?

Thank you.

Lago di Como 9 days in Italy - hope it's not a mad schedule
Posted: Thu April 24, 2008 09:51 PM UTC
Hi,

I am planning a 9 full days trip to Italy early October and need some advices.

1) Can anyone let me know if the following itinerary is too ambitious:

Day 1: Positano
Day 2: Capri
Day 3: Florence
(Train to Florence in the morning)
Day 4: Florence
Day 5: Chianti
(Drive from day 5-9)
Day 6: Siena
(Arrive in Siena night before. Depart after 4pm for Cinque Terre)
Day 7: Cinque Terre
Day 8: Lake Como
Day 9: Lake Como
(Drive to Malpensa airport for 7pm flight)

2) As we do not require a car for Cinque Terre, would anyone advise me to drop off my car at Cinque Terre/La Spezia and use public transports moving onwards or keep the car. Current plan is to keep the car as my time is quite limited and I can appreciate the ease of getting to the airport. Please advise if I am needlessly wasting money.

3) I can't seem to find any affordable and decent accomodation for less than Euro60 in Bellagio. The best I have found for Euro60 is in Como. Does anyone have anything to recommend?

Many thanks in advance!!!

Lago di Garda Cycle Hire
Posted: Tue April 22, 2008 11:57 AM UTC
Hi
Does anyone know anywhere to hire bikes around the lake. We will be in Malcesine but thought it would be great to hire them for a few hours anywhere on the lake. We will have our daughter with us so they would need to do kids bikes or tag along ones (shes only 6 but can ride). I had heard about some nice (flat!) routes on paths round the lake, is this right? Thanks

Lago di Garda Travel from Treviso Venice(TSF) airport to Lake Garda?
Posted: Mon April 21, 2008 09:55 AM UTC
Hi all,

I am flying to Treviso Venice(TSF) airport and was considering hiring a car to get to Lake Garda, but was wondering if there was an alternative which was easy to use?

In that I mean you don't have to change in 3 places!!! If not, I don't mind driving, but is nice to leave the car keys behind for a couple of weeks!

Thanks in advance,
