| Vladivostok | Looking for Contacts in Vladivostok Posted: Thu March 3, 2005 08:49 AM UTC
Hello,
I am highly interested in far eastern fauna and especially flora. While looking for infos on rare plants and animals, I started reading about the nature-reserves near Vladivostok (especially "Kedrovaja padj") where still some of the "Siberian Tigers" and even "Snowleopards" should live. The more I read, the more I want to visit this Nature-reserve but unfortunately it seems as if I am not able to establish any contacts to poeple living there and knowing about these reserves surrounding Vladivostok (which is necessary in order to organize such a journey). That's the reason why I am posting here, hoping that I have found the right place! Erwin |

Hallo! I want to take the ferry from Vladivostok to Fushiki in august. I found internet site. I also sent mail but they did not answer me. So do someone know, if I will get a place, when I book one or two days in advance? And can I pay with credit cards? Thank you!

| Vladivostok | vladivostok- safety/cultural opporunities Posted: Tue February 22, 2005 01:24 PM UTC
Hello.. my grandmother asked me to do some research about Vladivostok. My sister who is 16 is going to be living in Vladivostok for 1 year... the thing is, my grandmother read some not so nice things about Vladivostok, that the crime rate is really high , that it's a cultural blight, etc... so im looking for general advice on what this city has to offer/dangers for a 16 year old American girl... Any advice will be welcomed!

Hi Guys
Looking for some advice, I'm from Scotland and working in South Korea. I'm planning on visiting Vladivostok for about a week - 10 days and was justing hopeing for some information about the city. Names of any good bars? Names of any good clubs? Things to see? Good hotel to stay at? Is it reasonably safe to walk about at night etc? Will my ATM card work there? Any advice would be greatly accepted cheers Mark |

| Vladivostok | am i an idiot? Posted: Mon December 20, 2004 07:40 PM UTC
I am in the US NAVY. I am stationed in Okinawa,Ja and really always been interested in russia. i am very skeptical about taking a trip to Vladivostok, the closest russian city, because i dont speak any russian. i will be going sometime in may-july. i was hoping that i could meet someone to show me around. i would stay in a hotel, but would pay all expenses for someone if they agreed. i am 25 years old, and would like to experience the culture....and i would love to go party a night or two. i dont want to end up face down in a alley somewhere, and would be traveling with a friend. am i foolish, and are there any real chances in finding someone willing to act as a tour guide for two american sailors for 1-1 1/2 weeks.

A group of about 10 of us will be visiting Vladivostok for four days. What should we bring with us? We have heard that mozzie spray is a good thing... Do we need to be escorted everywhere? Is it really a dangerous place? Where is the best place to eat? Many thanks to anyone who can give me any tips.

| Vladivostok | Any recommendations for good hotel or nightlife spots? Posted: Wed June 16, 2004 01:28 PM UTC
We'll plan to visit in the 2nd week of August 2004. Though there is a list of potential hotels, just wondering if anyone has first-hand experience he/she could share, i.e. a particularly recommended hotel or tourist agency? Also, is there a recommended area or place for simple dining/nightlife spots? - Perhaps even, if anyone else happens to be in the same area in the same time, a good chance to meet then?)
Also, any recommendations/experiences for attending cultural events such as theatre or dance? Or Nature Day Tours in the general area? |

| Vladivostok | Korea to Moscow and beyond Posted: Thu April 29, 2004 10:37 AM UTC
I'm a Canadian currently in Korea and I'm thinking about returning to Europe by land next year. My ultimate destination is Romania. I'm just starting to make plans for an overland trip via the Tran Siberian rail line. At present the current plan (it's still in the rough planning stages) is as follows
-Korea to Vladivostok by ferry -Vlad to Moscow by train (with some sight seeing stops along the way) -Moscow to Romania by train (I still have to find out the route but I'm sure it goes through Ukraine. Maybe some tourist stops along the way). I found out a bit already about ferries to Vlad. And a bit about train schedules. But info seems a bit thin on the ground. Travel agents don't seem to have ANY info on the Trans Siberian. Is it possible to get the necessary visas and then just go and wing it. Are cheap hotels/hostels easy to find along the way or is booking in advance required? can I just show up at the train station in Vlad and buy a ticket? Probably I'll go during the late winter or early spring. If there's anyone out there who has done part (or all) of this route, i'd be interested in hearing their about their itineraries. I'm also interested in schedules or trains/ferries, ticket/hotel/hostel prices, contact info for ticket offices and hostels, etc. Basically any info that might come in handy. Thanks. |
