Hello all,
I have managed to find a company that only takes an hour and 45 minutes to do the above journy, this is confusing as the company I have been in contact with about buying property in Lovech, Bulgaria, says the trip takes about 3 hours. Anyway I have been onto the site of coach company `www.autogari.ro` but am not able to use the book on line service as I can`t get it up in English. Could anyone out there give me some help or advice with this. Thankyou |

| Bucharest | Markets in Bucharest Posted: Sun October 28, 2007 06:47 AM UTC
We are staying in Bucharest for a month in the Piata Unirii area. We need to find an open air market with lots of inexpensive fruits and vegetables as well as miscellaneous other items, such as plasticware, soap, etc.. It may not be in the "open air", but we are trying to find something similar. The food seems a little pricey in this area. Also, any mom and pop local restaurants would be great. Ideas for things to do with young children? Much Thanks,Heidi

| Bucharest | Caldarusani Monastery Posted: Thu October 11, 2007 03:38 PM UTC
We'll be taking a trip to Eastern Europe starting this weekend and will be in Bucharest for 2 days. We have an option to visit Caldarusani Monastery but have been unable to get any info from VT tips. Has anyone heard of, or visited this place? What info can you share? Is it worth it, or are there enough churches in the city itself to just stay there?

| Bucharest | Getting to Ministry Of Education, Garah & some other infos Posted: Fri September 21, 2007 09:34 AM UTC
Hi,
I am a 2nd year student studying in UMF, IASI. But for now, I am in my home country for vacation. I plan to return to IASI after a few days but I really dont want to go through the same loopholes as I did before ie getting looted by the taxis and the exchanges. So, my first question is, what is the cheapest way(like busses) to get from OTOPENI to Gara De Nord(I suppose thats where Ill get a train to IASI). I also heard there is a bus service around which takes directly to IASI from OTOPENI & another where you can take busses to IASI from a station in bucharest. Does anyone know about it? And if I am taking taxis, which is the best taxi and how long will it take me to get there? Also, I plan to visit the Ministry Of Education and my friends told me that its very near to Garah De Nord. Can anyone give me exact directions to the place(possibly by route of busses or walking) Just one last thing, is there a place where I can store my luggage in Garah or OTOPENI because I would be going to the ministry of Education and I really dont want to carry all the luggage around with me. I have been searching on the Internet for maps but I just cant find the right one. Please, if anyone can provide me with these informations. I will be very grateful to you for this favor. Thanks a Lot, DocQamar PS: One more thing, does anyone know the timings of the Ministry of Education. And also there are 2 ministres (Ministry of education research and youth, ministry of education nationale). Are both of them close together and which one should i go to for scholarships? |

I am spending one night in Bucharest as part of a package tour and they offer an optional $25 excursion to the House of Parliament. The building looks impressive but I am wondering if it is possible to just visit it on my own and save some time to visit some other sights in the city. Does anyone have information on visiting this sight? Thanks.

| Bucharest | International VT meeting on 11. October 2007 in wonderful Bucharest Posted: Mon September 10, 2007 08:50 PM UTC
Hello VT members and friends,
VT member yumyum (CH) and me (HORSCHECK, D) are exploring lovely Romania for one week from the 6th until the 13th of October. We are probably visiting Brasov and Bucharest. Among other things we are planning a little VT meeting in wonderful Bucharest for Thursday the 11th of October. At this stage the schedule for the meeting isn't defined yet. Depending on the availability of local members or other VT members who might be in town, the rough plan could look something like this: Afternoon: A little walk around the town with some sightseeing. Early evening: Dinner, drinks and exchange of travel stories and the latest VT gossip. So if you are available and interested in this meeting please leave a message here. We are open to your suggestions, so please don't hesitate to tell us your ideas. As soon as we have agreed on a rough plan, I will post this meeting in the VT meetings calender. We are looking forward to meeting you HORSCHECK :o) |

| Bucharest | accomodation in Bucharest Posted: Wed August 29, 2007 12:24 PM UTC
Hi! I'm sure this question was posted before, but where do you think is the best location to stay in Bucharest?
I've a business meeting in Bucharest on September 26-27, and I'm planning to stay a couple extra days. I've still no details about what hotel my company may choose, but even if it's central, I'm sure it will be expensive (I've to pay the extra days, of course), so I'll change to another place for the two extra days (unless I could use frequent traveller points) I saw good reviews of Flowers B&B. If it's clean and well located is enough for me. In fact, I prefer small mom&pop places that big corporate hotels. It claims to be cozy, comfortable and well located: http://www.flowersbb.ro/en/index.html Any thoughts? Other places you may reccomend? Thanks for your advice! I'm reading VT pages about Bucharest... sure I'll back with more questions. I'm really looking for this short visit, I was there back in 1987 and I'm sure I'll see a HUGE change. Anyone here around Sep 27-29 for sightseeing, a drink, dinner?? |

| Bucharest | Nightlife in Bucharest Posted: Thu August 16, 2007 08:12 PM UTC
Hello,
My brother and I will be in Bucharest from a Saturday until a Tuesday. We really would like to go out to the clubs every night we are there. Is this going to be possible? The first night we were thinking of going to Bamboo. Does anyone know of any other clubs like Bamboo that would be open on a Sunday or Monday? Also, does Bamboo or any other clubs in Bucharest offer pre-paid tables and/or European bottle services? Thanks in advance for any responses! |
