Ancona Hotel recommendation for Saturday night in July
Posted: Sat April 26, 2008 11:09 PM UTC
We arrive in Ancona from Split at around 9.30 pm on a Saturday night and will be leaving by train to Roma the next day. Have checked out hotels and although the Jolly Hotel is close to the harbour, it appears that there is a steep climb up steps to the hotel, which is not ideal with luggage. We have also checked out the Fortuna Hotel, which is close to the station and could be ok, but not particularly pleasant. I gather that the Fortuna is a kilometer away from the port, and I have read that often there are not many taxis available.... is it an easy walk at night?
Hoping that someone can give me some good advice, Thanking you in advance.

My husband is in your lovely town for 12 days, and i was wondering if there were many ways for him to, um, "get in trouble" while he is there. In other words, does a wife need to worry? Thanks!!!

Marche Temps in Marche in September/October
Posted: Sun June 17, 2007 09:09 PM UTC
Hi there,

I am thinking about going to Marche this year, probably in September and October, travelling by car.

What is the wheather like in that time of the year ? According to different sites the temps are between 13 and 20 C with some small chance for rain.
Is that true ? If I want a bit more sunshine it is probably better to travel more south of going to Sardegna or Sicilia ?

Thanx in advance,

Kozz

Fano Stacy T
Posted: Sat April 14, 2007 01:47 PM UTC
My boss' family is from Fano and I would really like to get him a gift from there. He is a successful business man who travels quite a bit; therefore, I was initially thinking of purchasing a business card holder, maybe leather, that he could carry with him during travels. I am not familiar with Fano and have had difficulty locating a local merchant to shop for merchandise. I am not set on a business card holder, but definitely want something from Fano. Any direction would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Stacy

Sirolo Restaurants in Sirolo

Hi- we are planning a few days around Easter in Sirolo. It sounds as if it might be expensive to eat out. Are there budget pizzerias or other restaurants? Will everything be open at Easter?

Thanks

Pesaro August Holidays!
Posted: Mon February 5, 2007 06:56 PM UTC
Planning on coming to Pesaro in August this year, it will be my first time in Italy. What can I expect of Pesaro, are the plenty of nice restaurants to chose from, any nice little bars for on an evening. How easy is it booking excursions to other cities? Im planning on stopping at the Baia Flaminia, cant seem to find any reviews on this place so any additional info would be appreciated!

Urbino Life in Urbino
Posted: Sun January 7, 2007 10:26 AM UTC
I am thinking about studying in Urbino for a couple of years. I am taken the compactness and intimacy of the city, however, I have concerns about becoming claustrophobic. What is the student and local scene like there? Are rents expensive? What sort of shops are there? I would be grateful for any other insights about living in this town.

Ancona Transport from Airport
Posted: Sat December 30, 2006 10:28 AM UTC
Hi can anyone help.

We are going to Ancona for weekend break, I know you can get the train or the bus to Ancona and seems that there is quite a few on the Friday afternoon when we arrive. I am having trouble trying to find any transport (i.e. train or bus) to go back to the airport on the Sunday morning. I have looked on the train site and nothing is available on the Sunday morning? Does anyone know if buses etc run on a Sunday morning back to the airport.

If anyone could help it would be great because we have not got a lot of time before we go. Also I presume you can purchase train tickets from the airport and I know apparently that there are machines that you need to validate your ticket? If you go by bus you have to purchase the bus tickets from the tabacco shops? Please correct me if I am wrong I am just trying to find as much information as I can. I don't fancy the idea of being stranded and I don't know any italian! :o)

Ancona ferry boarding in Ancona
Posted: Sun December 17, 2006 09:21 AM UTC
Hi all, Would like to know what the routine is when boarding the overnight ferry to Split. We will be arriving from Venice by train. How far is the station from the port? Is there a bus that connects the two? We know we need to be there 2 hours early to check in. What does checking in involve? Customs? Passports etc Is there somewhere to leave your luggage. Do you check it in or keep it with you in your cabin? I hope someone out there has done all this and can pass on their experience. Thanks. Mary

Marche Holiday with 6 year old culture and beaches
Posted: Fri December 1, 2006 12:22 PM UTC
Hi we are thinking of taking cheap flight to Ancona next year.Firstly would it be best to go in Whitsun school hols end of May beg of June or Summer. With a child we dont want it too hot just enough to make it warm enough for swimming but I do remember going to Tuscany in June and it was rainy and cold most of the time.
Secondly where to go as we would not have a car but have always managed with trains and buses(part of the experience ha ha.)
We like architecture town life wine, eating markets and festivals and we try to go to go to places that will suit our son ie swimming pool, sand, parks boats rivers ice cream. We would consider staying in 2 or 3 places at most possibly dividing between coast(but not packed like sardines beaches) and interior. How easy is this on trains/buses.Is this asking too much we have usually done the south of france quite easily as transport was good.Or would we best staying in one central area and doing day trips?thanks for any advice

Ancona Enough time?
Posted: Wed August 16, 2006 04:28 AM UTC
The train from Venice arrives at 10:42. The ferry for Split leaves at 11:00. Is this enough time from the train station to the ferry? What are the particulars (directions/tips) of the journey from train to the ferry? There is another train that leaves at 5?19 am (ouch!) and gets in at 10:17. Is that a better one to take? Thanks!
