Hi there! Me, my hsuband and my 20 month old daughter will be visitng Budapest for the first time this February. I know it's going to be winter at that time and so I am a bit concern if it will be hard for us to move around esp with a toddler?
Any tips or suggestions on what places to visit during that time?

Seven of us Irish people (3 girls, 4 guys) are visiting Budapest for a long weekend from 13th - 16th Nov. Could anybody suggest any pubs or late bars? Not really looking for dance clubs, maybe just late bars or more 'laid back' clubs?

Also, we would like to watch the Ireland v. France World Cup qualifier, any recommendations for a good Irish bar that shows sport/football?

I am planning a surprise romantic break for myself and my partner in January (end of) and am colpletely baffled by where to stay, I would love to hear from anyone that has had a good hotel experience. I would really like something romantic/modern in teh heart of the city so that we can get out and explore and enjoy the nightlife in the evenings!
I would love any suggestions - PLEASE!!!!!!

please tell me a nice 3 stars hotel or pension that is not far from the thermal pool and which has all the facilities for a pleasant stay.On the site I found but I don`t know how far are they from the pools and if they are heated enough,because I go with a baby.( around 50 e /room) Thanks.

I will be in Budapest in November and have heard about the famed cziscos ( sic) magyar riders. I'm hoping to even ride a lippizaner while I'm there as I've heard of a few riding schools in Hungary. Anyone can tell me where the nearest
riding school or place to ride and watch lippizzaners in Budapest ?

Hi, I am getting in panic to thinks of to be alone in a big train station knowing a bad english and nothing of Hungary. Does anybody know if there are signs in english in the train station or someone to ask about where depart the train, where to buy a ticket, etc. Many thanks for your help. Diana

Does anyone know if I can buy the family ticket at the airport (T2) or can I just get the single tickets? If I can't get it at the airport, do you know if the ticket office at Moszkva Ter will be open on a sunday evening about 8.00pm?

I will be in Budapest later this month (October 09) and would love to meet other VT'ers - travellers and locals - if there are any keen on doing so.

This will be my 4th visit to this beautiful city since 2004 - one of my favourite cities - and in particular I would like to meet some of the local posters on this board who have been so helpful to me in the past with information that have made my trips so enjoyable. Posters such as DanBP, MedioLatino (and new wife), Tamas (Fischert), Laszlo, and Shirez (where is she now ? haven't heard from her for a long time).
It would be my pleasure to buy you a drink (or a coffee or tea), and my way to say thank you for all your help to me, and also to meet you as native Budapestians who are proud of their city.

Please let me know if anyone is interested. The dates that I am available are Oct. 22, 23, 28, 29, 30 or 31. It doesn't have to be a long or complicated meeting. A quick get together to chat and share a laugh for an hour or so will be fine, or if you prefer to meet for longer, dinner will also be nice. Once we've decided on a date and time to meet we can fix a location.

I am planning to visit to Budapest in early November and planning to stay there for a couple of days. I was wondering whether it is good time to visit or will it be so cold to tour outside. I will travelling with 2 young kids.

Does anyone here have photos or videos of Csillaghegy, Hungary I would be absolutely thrilled to see them! Csillaghegy is a suburb of Budapest North ... I lived there as a child, then in Canada ever since age 5 and I don't have much of an opportunity to travel there myself ...

I am using US Dollars and was wondering if it would be better to pay in Forints or Euros, or do I have choice, or does it matter? I noticed that online, many hotel sites are only in Euros and the Dollar is weak against the Euro, so I was hoping to save some money by paying in Forints. Any comments?

Hi guys, I have a question on working in Budapest, and I apologize for this not being a travel related query, but hope you can help anyway. It's been a while since my visit in Budapest and cant really remember what the prices was. I am offered a job there but want to make sure I'd be able to get through the month, so do you maybe know how much money do people earn on average in Budapest? Internet is giving me some confusing information and ten different figures so don't really know what to think... It's an office based full time job. I hope you can help, I would really appreciate it :)

We (four of us) are planning a day-trip with my car to Hungary on 10th of October, and consider two places: Szombathely and Kaposvar. Both places are almost the same distance from Varazdin, around 150km.

What I would like to know is, which city would you recommend us to visit and why?

Since we'll spend the day in the city, we don't need an nightlife, we want to wander through the city, observe the architecture, make tons of photos, maybe relax a bit in the park or by the lake, and eat something local, but not very expensive.

Any suggestions are welcome.

I'd like to take railjet train no. 60 from Budapest to Munich (dep. Budapest/K 7:10, Gyor 8:37) and rj 67 from Munich to Budapest (dep. München/H 13:26, Wien/W 17:50, Gyor 19:20). Do these trains get crowded? Or, to put it this way, do I need a seat reservation? (Seat reservation is optional on this train and as a budget traveller, I really don't want to hold a seat reservation card on an almost empty train :) )

But keeping in mind that i am not really interested in walking around museums or doing any kind of tour.
I want to just walk around interesting areas with art galleries, nice cafes, trendy shops etc.
Perhaps there is a great photography exhibition.
I want to take it easy and not have to be too much of a tourist.
Can anyone suggest anything? ill be there begining of November.

I've read the answers to the Budapest to Sofia train query and want to add this variation ....Budapest to Bucharest.

I've checked the malev site and got a time for the night train from keleti...around 7pm for a around 10 am arrival the next day.
Seat 61 says there should be little problem buying a second class ticket with a 2bed sleeper supplement in Budapest the day before @ the station ? Anyone agree ? Also the cost for the 2nd class ticket one way and the sleeper supplement. I could not get the price from the malev web site...just the times !

I am going to Budapest from Los Angeles, then by train to Krakow, then returning to Los Angeles from Krakow 3-25-10 ->4-4-10.

Should I buy now? I was told by an operator for an online site that it is better to wait one or two months because all the airlines have not announced their flights for that time yet.

I am arriving in Budapest on thursday, rather late. I have checked different options and I am not quite willing pay for taxi or Minibus. I wonder what is the possibility that I can travel on public transportation after 22.30 hours? My flight reaches at 22.30 so it can be that I am out by 23.00

How are connections to Kobanya-Kispest at these hours?
Is it possible for me to buy a 7 day ticket at Kobanya-Kispest at these hours?
