how to get from the train station(arriving from vienna)to le meridian hotel?from the hotel to the airport?thanks.

We will be arriving in Budapest to start a Danube river cruise tour. We have two persons in our party that have some difficulty in getting around. I believe we will have a motorcoach tour and a walking tour for the day. Is there a place in Budapest/Szentendre one can rent a motorized wheelchair or scooter? Possibly a private car to take from point a to point b or c? We will be there the 21st of July. Thankyou

I might be going to Debrecen in a few weeks depending on how easy I can get to Romania. After visiting Debrecen I would like to go to Sibiu in Romania but any other city along that way in Romania would be fine as well.

I have seen that there are trains which take at minimum about 10 hours. Pretty long for such a short distance. Does anyone know if there are alternative ways to get to Romania? Are there bus services? If so, can you give me some pointers to web sites (I could not find any so far)?

Has anyone been to a performance at this theatre? What is the interior like? Is it old or modern, large or small. Can't find a picture of the auditorium so would like a description please.

A group of us will be visiting Budapest again, later in the year. We can go to the Opera House or to an opera being staged at the Thalia theatre.

I am arriving in budapest on 6th of august and i have to transfer to debrecen the next day i was wondering is it possible to sleep in the airport bcos my flight arrives late and i hav to catch a train vry early in the morninig,so basically is it possible to stay in the airport overnight.

I am staying at the Holiday Inn in August for 2 nights, and wondered about the best way to get from the Airport to the hotel? Also how far and how easy is it to get to the city centre from here?

Car Safety in Budapest

I’ll be traveling to Budapest by car in about two weeks. Initially I had no concern about taking my car to Budapest via Bratislava, but I have read on several pages that car theft (especially of foreign cars), is a big problem in Hungary and Slovakia. I’m now feeling concerned and am no longer sure if I should risk taking my car. I have an immobilizer in my car as well as a steering wheel stoplock. Would that offer adequate protection? Has anyone else taken their car to Budapest and what have you done to secure your car?

I have accommodation booked (with parking that is not too secure) in Budapest, but I’m now wondering if I should look for accommodation in a town close to Budapest. I can find accommodation in Szentendre, Vac or even Esztergom and then travel to Budapest by train. Perhaps I’m naive, but I’m thinking that my car would probably be safer in a smaller place. Is this correct, or would it not make any difference where I park my car?

How do people greet each other in Hungary? I am used to kissing twice on either cheek in Spain, but I am assuming that is not normal in Hungary? I don't want to make any social errors.

It is usual to shake hands between women or do I just say szia and smile?

We will be in Budapest from Aug 14 to 16 and wonder if there are any events during those days.

Have been to a musical in the city a few years back with very inexpensive standing room tickets but cant seem to find any during the above timeframe.

Can someone please end my confusion. From the guidebooks I seem to think that there are 2 palaces very nearby with similar sounding names - Esterhazy - what is the difference and which is the best to visit - have a feeling that one of them is closed - we're hoping to visit in Aug 2008.

Also where and what is Fertod - is Sopron worth visiting

Can anyone please give me any info on the Heviz Lake - I've read somewhere that it has frogs in it - my skin is creeping - I don't fancy swimming with these little creatures. Not too worried about the mud - but are there any other animals in this lake???
