Does anyone know how far is from the KTEL bus station in Heraklion to the Ferry Port.
I saw a map and it looks not far away.Does anyone know how long does it takes (more or less) walking?

I have a question concerning the 9.45Am Ferry from Heraklion to Santorini because i stay for 3 days in Chania and then i have to go to Heraklion and catch the Ferry to Santorini.

Do you think that leaving Hania in 5.30Am Bus i'll arrive in Heraklion with enough time to Buy the ferry ticket to santorini?
I'm afraid that i cannot find a ticket one hour/half hour before of the depart.
Do you sugest me to sleep that night in Heraklion and then at the other day be early at the port and buy the ticket.

I wil be staying in Gouves for 2 weeks in july and would like to hire a car for about 10 days, does anybody know the best carhire company and the aproximate cost for 1 week of for 10 days. We are not looking to hire anything fancy just a cheap runabout.

I am heading for Pefkos on October the 17th. I know it's late in the season so I wondered what the weather is actually like...? Wil it rain often etc.
Also what are the bars and restaurants like?

Hi there, we are going to Chersonissos end of September till half October. Flying to Heraklion, then transfer to Chersonissos (hotel Creta Maris *****)
We would like to know what kind of weather we are going to expect, and which things to do and see in this region? We are also interested in taking the hop to Santorini. Can anyone give us some good advice?

I'm still squirelling away new places to visit when we go to Crete in September. Anyone been to Lendas? Is it worth the trip? We like - Sfakia, Loutro, Sougia, Mirtos, Zakros...would Lendas suit?

how to reach from heraklion airport to hotel candia maris

aside from the places mentioned below, i'm wondering if there are any other budget hotels in heraklion, perhaps newly opened ones? looking for the most inexpensive but decent single room w/ bath possible.

Is there a reasonable way to get from Heraklion, Crete to Tel Aviv on June 24, 2007? We would prefer not to fly back to Athens and make multiple stops on the way, thereby using up a full day to get there. We did find one non-stop on Expedia, but it leaves in the middle of the night.

Are there small plane flights? charters? Ferrys? We are a family of 4.

I am travelling to Crete in May and am hoping to visit a friend who will be staying at the Gouves Sea Hotel in Gouves, Crete for a few days. Unfortunately, they are fully booked so I am trying to find a place nearby so that I can hang out with my friend and catch up. Does anyone know this area and a good bang-for-your-buck place to stay? I am a solo traveller without a lot of $$$ and this town looks like a package holiday place (and I am on backpacker budget!)

Can anybody tell me if they know of anyone near Agi Galini or Matala that hires boats out for a day or two?
I done this before but had to travel to Rethymon, we always stay in Galini and so would like to tour a bit of the shore along the south side.

Me and my hubby are going to relocate to Crete and will be looking to work in an area full of tourists, dealing with tourists etc, mainly english, and hotels etc. Would like to know what area you would suggest to move to. Im going to Chania June for a week to look around, but wondered about Heraklion too.
Any other area you know.
Any help would be great.

Why do all the hotels on Crete show two twin beds next to each other on their websites? Is this what they consider a "double" room? For example:

I am planning an 8 day vacation in Greece that breaks down like this:

4 nights in Crete
2 night in Santorini (Fira)
3 nights in Athens

I am travelling by plane to and from Athens, and by ferry between Crete & Santorini. That's all figured out. I'm just not sure about what to do in Crete. I don't want to rent a car, but I do want to be able to do things, like go to Knossos, Samaria Gorge, etc.

I'm torn as to whether to stay in Heraklion or Rethymnon. Or maybe both. I've read Rethymnon is prettier but Heraklion might be more convenient. I want to keep it simple. Can anyone make recommendations? Please be specific. I'm looking for hotels between 50 and 100 euros.

I should also mention that this is a honeymoon. I am NOT interested in doing any stereotypical resort crap for my honeymoon (I can sit around and do nothing at home!) but I would like to stay somewhere that is good for a couple.

Any thoughts?

Summer 2006 my parents are renting a villa near Elia. I gather that this is near to Heraklion and so I am trying to find out as much as possible about the place. I'm in my late teens and so am quite interested in the nght life, with a view to this; where is good value and fun? are the buses any good / safe in the evening?

As with any girly, I'm keen to do some shopping, whre are the bst markets and are there any tricks or traps I should look out for?

I will be visiting Gouves it's 13 km from Heraklion airport in Crete Island from the Oct. 8 till Oct. 15, me , my wife and one year old child, we will be staying at the Grecotel Creta sun hotel. Is it warm enough to swim in October in the sea and what about the weather is it warm enough to have a nice tan? I also heard that Crete is very windy is it true? And if possible any oppinion about this hotel. Thank you

I'm going to a meeting in Heraklion in late September.I'm staying at Galaxy Hotel, what's it like? But question is that I have one day in Heraklion before the meeting and would be thankful if you could give me hints about what to do? Stay in town, take a bus and see the Island, shopping, museums....

I know it's only a day and there's lot to see and do, but....

Also comments about nice restaurants are wellcome=)
