Meeting Place Posted: Tue August 4, 2009 06:15 PM UTC
I plan to meet some friends from Poland in Gdansk when we stop in Gdansk on our Baltic Sea cruise. What is a convenient, well known place in the Old Town at which to tell my friends to meet? Is there a main square with a monument, church, building, etc. which will work as a meeting place??? We're only there for the day and I want to meet somewhere unmistakable so we don't have to spend time looking for each other.
Thank you very much...dziekuje!

Gdansk or Sopot for new year eve holidays Posted: Fri October 24, 2008 07:11 AM UTC
Hi all.
I am coming in Gdansk for 3/4 days during the end of the year 2008 holidays with a friend.
I am looking for a cheap accomodation in hostel or apartment.
For us it's very important to join the nightlife,so i need infos about the best zone where to seach it.
Any suggestion? I heard the best place for nightlife is Sopot.
I need any useful information about local clubbing nightlife especially for the last day of the year.
I'll be glad to meet members for a beer.

Dentist?? Posted: Thu September 18, 2008 10:12 AM UTC
Hi,
I am visiting Gdansk for four nights next week, and I'm considering seeing a dentist while I'm there. Dentists are horribly expensive here in Norway, about 200 euros just to fix one tooth. And I suppose it is a lot cheaper in Poland.
So, can anyone recommend a good, modern, englishspeaking, compassionate dentist in central Gdansk? Preferrably with a phone number and/or mail where I can book an appointment?
Thnx!

A few questions.... Posted: Fri August 29, 2008 12:16 PM UTC
Am going to Gdansk for a week with my boyfriend, and was wondering how much money we will need for that time. Plan on getting out and about a lot, will have to eat out, but not top places, will use public transport as much as possible but will have to taxi at night at hotel is a bit out of town.
Also, when we arrive we have to pay our hotel in cash, in Euros. Are Euros accepted in many places? I was planning on just getting Zlotzy but is it better to have a mix?
We would like to go see a football match is there is one on, we have been on Gdansk's football team's website, but can't work out which games are home and which are away? Could anyone help with that? We would be there 10 - 17th Sept.
Also, and a personal question - have heard it's not going to happen but what are my chances of getting a glass of wine in Poland!? lol. sorry....#
Very much looking forward to going now!
Thanks for any help anyone can give, xxL

Christmas In Gdansk Posted: Sun August 24, 2008 04:12 PM UTC
I am planning a trip to Gdansk for Christmas from 22nd December
I would be very grateful for some tips on apartments in the old town or near by which can accommodate 4 people, but is special for Christmas. Maybe a sauna or Jacuzzi or amazing view. I have found several basic places but special ones seams to be far and few between.
Our budget is around 100euro a night so alot of the hotels are over priced for us
Also any tips on local places to eat and drink for a real Christmas spirit would be appreciate. Candle lit, with meat dishes, vaults or cellars maybe, traditional Polish food etc
Finally anything special we should see during this festive time - Christmas markets - Castles - Hot Spas - Carol singers - shows - special nights
I have never been to Poland before so any tips for this time of year truly appreciated
Thank you for anyone who responds

Gdansk or Sopot in late August? Posted: Thu July 17, 2008 10:24 AM UTC
Hi,
planning a trip to Gdansk for the last weekend in August. Since I want to experience the nightlife, would it be better to stay the nights in Sopot and do day trips to Gdansk or vice versa?
I suppose Sopot is the place to be during summer, but would the season be over by end of August?

Going from Nynesham Sweden to Gdansk by Ship, Info please Posted: Mon December 3, 2007 06:36 PM UTC
Hi we are going on the Scandinavia ferry to Gdansk. When we arrive is it far to go for shopping...we are not so young. Also is there something VERY special that we must not miss, and if possible can you give me the tram numbers. Are Taxis to be trusted? Maybe the most favourite place you like would be nice.
Thanks all

Mid November for 4 days Posted: Tue October 30, 2007 07:42 PM UTC
I am visiting Gdansk - Sopot for 4 days from 15th November as a solo traveller.
I expect it to be quiet, but how quiet quiet. Is it a ghost town.
Is there any life at the weekends in pubs and clubs.
Are there tourists this time of year?
What are the best bars - nightclubs for a late 30's traveller?
Is there a football match that weekend, or one I can go and watch. I try and go to a game wherever I am in Europe.
Any ideas for day trips, esp on train and a little further afield thn the tricity.
Finally is there a place that runners go, as I am training for a marathon, so wont be up all night drinking. Too old for that.
thanks

Traveling from Gdansk to Ostroda Posted: Mon October 29, 2007 05:36 PM UTC
Next year I hope to traveling to North East Poland. I will be with my mother who was born in Ostroda (Osteroda, Ostpreußen) but has not been back there since the end of WW2. I expect to flying to Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport then somehow making my way to Ostroda. So far, car hire seems most likely but I would prefer to avoid that if possible, not being the most confident of drivers when in continental Europe. Does anyone know of a suitable alternative? Rail or Bus perhaps. Must be with the minimum of waiting or changing. I have trawled the web for info but, naturally, most of it is in Polish.
