| Krakow | Buying tickets online to Prague Posted: Sat May 17, 2008 07:42 AM UTC
I will be heading to Prague from Krakow this July. I want to take a night train and was wondering if there was a way to buy a ticket online on either the polish railways website or the czech railways website. If I am unable to buy the ticket, could someone let me know the cost of the night train from Krakow to Prague and how far in advance I would need to get the ticket.

| Krakow | Toilet business Posted: Mon May 12, 2008 11:53 PM UTC
I have read several tips about having change for using toilets in Krakow - I need to get a bit more specific ...
If I go to Wawel Castle - are there bathrooms easy to find? Sometimes I could be a bit more of a frequent flyer in the morning and need to know the scoop. Any other tips on locating bathrooms and the type of change needed welcome! |

| Krakow | Krakow airport to center of town (Powisle) Posted: Mon May 12, 2008 02:29 AM UTC
I thought I had posted but cannot find the info. I have been looking thru the VT pages as well as http://www.krakow-info.com/airport.htm, and getting from the airport to Powisle Street:
The website above states "A single ticket costs an equivalent of under two euros. One can can purchase tickets on the train. It departs from a stop some 300 meters from the International Terminal T1 " (1) is it pretty obvious to figure out where this train is? (2) *** Is the station and train OK for a woman alone to hang out in, or would it be just better to take a taxi? (3) Assuming I do take the train to Glowny Stacja PKP ... it looks like it will be around (give/take) 4 kilometers from my destination. Is it easy to catch a taxi from the Glowny Station? Thanks! |

| Krakow | Gluten free eating Posted: Wed May 7, 2008 12:23 PM UTC
We are visiting Krakow for 4 nights in July. My husband has a food allergy so is on a gluten free diet which means he can't eat anything containing wheat flour so no bread, pasta, pizza, cakes etc etc.It also means he can't eat sauces that are thickened with flour ( cornflour, rice flour are ok). Can anyone advise of places to eat which would be ok for him. He can eat any meat, fish, veg etc.

| Krakow | Accommodation Outside Central Krakow Posted: Fri May 2, 2008 10:27 PM UTC
Hi. I wonder if anyone could recommend any reasonable hotels (or apartments) on the outskirts of Krakow or even in a town close to Krakow.
We'll be travelling to Krakow by car, and do not wish to take it into central Krakow. Ideally we are looking for a hotel that is about 20 - 30 minutes from central Krakow. I'm probably asking for too much, but it would be good if the hotel/apartment was in walking distance (10 minutes or so) of a bus/tram stop or station and in a safe area. Many thanks |

| Krakow | bus or train to krakow from Katowice Posted: Mon April 21, 2008 04:50 PM UTC
Hello,
15 June (sunday) i arrive at Katowice at 17.30. I can take the bus (from wizz air) to Krakow and it will take me there in 2 hours. Is there a faster possibility (and cheap!) I was thinking about taking the train. Is there a train leaving from Katowice airport to Krakow, or do i have to go to the trainstation first? What would you recommend me to do, take the (mini)bus, train or the normal bus (What is the fastest and cheapest way to do)? We booked a hostel, close to the trainstation in Kakow. And then we like to go out to a disco at Krakow. What is a good place to go (i don't want to go to a disco where all English or foreign people come). Where do the Krakow people go out? Thanks a lot, Jeroen from Holland |

| Krakow | best time to visit May or November Posted: Mon April 21, 2008 10:13 AM UTC
I need some suggestions...would it be better to go to Krakow at the end of May or the end of November? I would like to see the Krakow area sights, Auschwitz, salt mine, ect... Is everything open in November? I don't mind if the weather is cold if it means less crowds. Also, any ideas for things to do for me (I'll be staying for four days).
Thanks! |

| Krakow | Krakow-Budapest by night train Posted: Sat April 19, 2008 12:46 PM UTC
Hi! I am planning to take the night train from Krakow to Budapest on 8th June. The Deutsche Bahn website mentions a train 200 whose segment goes direct from Krakow to Budapest. I came across another forum posting (http://www.eurotrip.co.uk/forum/tm.aspx?m=126278) mentioning that this segment of the train has been discontinued. The questions i have are:
1) Is the direct night train between Krakow and Budapest still running? 2) In case it is, is there a 2nd class sitting compartment that runs between Krakow and Budapest or is it necessary to spend on a sleeper/couchette? Any information would be more than welcome. Thanks in advance. |

| Krakow | parking at Auschwitz and salt mine Posted: Sat April 19, 2008 10:39 AM UTC
We are going back and forth on this...We would be coming from Wroclaw and have only one day to spend in Krakow. There are two choices...one being taking a tour bus from Wroclaw to Auschwitz, but we wouldn't see the salt mine. The second choice is getting a car rental for the day and planning on it being a very long day but being able to see both. Any suggestions would be appreciated. If we rent a car, can you tell me if there is plenty of parking at Auschwitz and the salt mine and how expensive is it?
Thanks |

Hello, I need help to trace rail schedule/fare in Poland.
For instance, when I check info for Warzawa to Krakow, it is easy to locate the schedule. But in the price page, I don't know what the currency should be, ie for this journey, the price is 77 and with some % for price reduction. How should I interprete the information? Thanks. http://www.intercity.com.pl/?page=connection_detai |

| Krakow | Zurich- Stuttgart and Vienna-Krakow border stations Posted: Sat April 12, 2008 02:50 PM UTC
Hi,
First of all, sorry coz I'm also posting some queries for zurich-stuttgart trains but it sort of inter related. I am planning to travel from Zurich to Stuttgart and later on from Vienna to Krakow. I am planning to get the Germany-Austria Regionpass. As such, appreciate if anybody can help me to determine the point-point ticket that i require for the trip which is not covered by the Germany-Austria Regionspass. I have made some research, not sure whether this is true: a) For Zurich - Stuttgart : I only need to get the Zurich - Schaffhausen. The rest of trip is covered by Germany Regionpass. b) For Vienna - Krakow : I need to buy the ticket from Breclav - Krakow . From Vienna - Breclav is covered by the Austria Regionpass. Appreciate some verification on this. Also, I am planning to get the night train from Vienna/Breclav- Krakow, any way I can make the booking online? Plus, any tips to get cheap tickets. Any advices is greatly appreciated. |

| Krakow | How to get to Krakow from Bydgoszcz/Poznan Posted: Fri April 11, 2008 03:05 PM UTC
I will be going to Poland for the first time in May to stay with some family. My family is in a small town between Bydgoszcz and Poznan. What would be the quickest way for me to get to Krakow from either of these 2 cities?
I've tried searching the rail sites but there seem to be more than one station in each city and I'm very unfamiliar with the area, so I don't know which one to pick...would it really be a 10 hour train ride from Bydgoszcz to Krakow? Are there any flights? Thank you for any info you have... |

| Krakow | Suggestions on cities to visit around Krakow Posted: Tue April 8, 2008 03:14 AM UTC
Hi! We are in the early stages of planning vacation this year. Last year we visited Prague, Budapest & Vienna and had a wonderful time. This year, we tossed out the idea of Krakow. Do you have any suggestions on how to spend a 7 days in the area? If we stayed in Krakow for 3 days, what other cities are worth visiting for 3 or 4 days? While it would be lovely to spend more time in Prague and Budapest, the general preference is to explore a place we have never been. Is Bucharest too far away by train? Thanks for your help!

| Krakow | Budget Accommodation Posted: Wed April 2, 2008 09:12 AM UTC
Have went through a lot of hostels, a private room for two costs at least 50euro. I believe the same price is good enough to stay in a hotel as well? Any hotel/hostel around the price could you recommend? The euro is 20% higher than the time I started planning for this trip.  I am okay with mix-dorm but my friend has never done that. Thanks.

| Krakow | Krakow from Budapest Posted: Thu March 20, 2008 02:01 AM UTC
Hey! I was wondering how other people have travelled from Budapest to Krakow.
At the moment all the plane tickets are sooooo expensive...like 350 euros for two people. Im planning to go in August...busy time i know. Train is an option...but i have heard good and bad things about the train. Driving is an option...most people say its okay but some people swear the roads in Poland are a death trap? surely it can't be that bad...? I heard it takes about 7 hours mainly using the E77... Any suggestions or advice? Please!!! :) |
