Karlsruhe Paris to Karlsruhe
Posted: Tue October 27, 2009 10:27 AM UTC
Hey guys,

What is the cheapest way to get from Paris to Karlsruhe? I know there is a train running between them but they are a little bit expensive. Are there other cheaper options like a overnight bus ride or something?

Cheers

Karlsruhe transportation for day trips
Posted: Fri June 12, 2009 03:34 AM UTC
Hi,
I have been looking at possible day trips for 3-4 days we will be spending in Karlruhe at the beginning of July. One of the spots I'm interested in is Basel, Switzerland. Wondering what would be the easiest way to get there and if this is possible for a day trip? We also need housing for 2 of us for 4 nights. Any suggestions? Thanks

Karlsruhe Seeking short term room or apartment - First 3 weeks of June - Karlsruhe
Posted: Sat April 18, 2009 01:46 PM UTC
For the first 3 weeks of June my mother will visit me for the first time from New Zealand.
She's 63 years old, very able, physically sound, and a very chirpy woman, no hassle.

But I don't think she'll be very comfortable on the couch in my shared flat here in the südstadt of Karlsruhe..!

Hotels are expensive and not pleasant for that amount of time, so I'm a bit stuck on what to look for.
In-between renters usually offer their places for 3 months +, hostels are bunks and travelers.. & there doesn't seem to be things like holiday apartments here in Karlsruhe.

So I need to find an alternative, preferably not to far away, Rüppurr would be fine also, as she would really like a bit or grass near-by.

Any ideas anyone..?

Or better yet, anyone have room to rent for such a case?

Many thanks all

Karlsruhe Silly Question, Bus station location
Posted: Tue November 25, 2008 04:13 PM UTC
Hi,
This may seem like a really silly question, but...

is the bus/coach station for eurolines coaches far from the main hauptbahnhof in Karlsruhe?

I'm planning on booking a coach from there to paris and have a half hour window from train arriving to bus leaving and wondered if it was easily do-able.

Thanks

Karlsruhe Last minute Glühwein-Meeting post
Posted: Sun November 23, 2008 08:17 PM UTC
Got all directions, etc - here are some last minute items:

weather.com lists Karlsruhe for the 28th and 29th as foggy, fluctuating from -2 to 4 C. I have seen these conditions fluctuate and it may change a bit from now to Thursday - but based on the current forecast ...

How cold is cold? I have looked at photos from last year, as well as other Christmas market photos to see how bundled up people were, and it's a tad inconclusive. I have a big "bear" coat I take to New York in January, when it's windy and snowing. It is a bear. I also have another coat I took to Madrid early December last year. I usually bring layers I can adjust.

Questions:

- (1) Where have we decided to go - (I did not vote, but the place close to France and the Black Forest are my favorite choices). Any decisions, or are we waiting on the weather?

Taking into consideration Friday and Saturday's activities:

- (2) Does the snow falling today stay on the ground?

- (3) Should I bring the big bear coat (below the knees and heavy, but nice and worm) ... or the lighter coat (still wool and lined, but above the knees and a tad lighter)? While I want to be prepared, I don't want to be overly done ...

- (4) Is PrincessEmily so far the only child coming?

Thx!

Karlsruhe Glühwein-Meeting - street address to meeting place?
Posted: Fri November 21, 2008 02:41 AM UTC
I was in Karlsruhe earlier this year ... but I am not too sure where is the meeting place for the Glühwein meeting. I think the marketplace is "marketplatz" ... yes? but not too sure about the big church.

Welcome any clarification.

Karlsruhe help going Karlsruhe - Cologne - back down to Karlsruhe via Koblenz down the Rhine
Posted: Fri February 8, 2008 12:49 AM UTC
Need suggestions as to the better logistics to visit the Koln Cathedral from Karlsruhe and return to Karlsruhe.

I have been looking at some of the train schedules (not in the diebahn site, for time purposes in the Raileurope site) as well as to the KD Boat schedule at http://www.kdrhine.com/

From Karlsruhe, it looks like there's no way to do a day trip and do both the visit to the cathedral and sailing down from Koln to about Koblenz. I had some notes from a response a couple of years back but can't find them. So it looks like I'll need to stay in Koln overnight. So take an early train out of Karlsruhe and see the cathedral that afternoon, then sleep in Koln and sail in the morning.

Any other suggestions - reverse circle? Should I ride from Karlsruhe to Koblenz, sail from Koblenz to Koln, see the cathedral the following morning and take the train from Koln to Karlsruhe. [The assumption is that maybe there's a good reason for doing the trip in reverse, like maybe the cathedral is better viewed in the morning than the afternoon].

Would you recommend one or two places to stop along the way?

Any comments/suggestions welcome! ... and one other thing to do in Cologne, and favorite place to eat. I sort of like potato dishes ;=)

Thanks.

Karlsruhe one week apartnemtn rental in Karlsruhe
Posted: Mon August 27, 2007 12:05 PM UTC
Greetings list,

Does anyone know of website or other resources where one can get information on renting an apartment for a vacation lasting a week or a bit longer? My wife and I will be in Germany visiting her relatives in the Berlin area for Xmas and we'd like to take the chance once we're there to go to the Karlsruhe region. Would an apartment in fact be more economical than a traditional hotel? Any ideas or information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Cristobal

Karlsruhe Reg Accomodation and Veg meal in KARLSRUHE
Posted: Wed April 25, 2007 04:14 PM UTC
Hi buddies,

Nice to visit this forum and postings ensured me to get proper and correct information about my doubts. I am about to visit Karlruhe in mid of May for some official work in 76032 Karlsruhe and would stay there for approximately 6-8 weeks or longer.
So can you please post your comments for following Qs.--

1. What would be best bet for accomodation for single room appartment(pref with Kitchen), and since I am alone so may I get it shared by students or working professionals near my office location(76032 Karlsruhe).

2. Would it be better to have initial accomodation in some hotel room or youth hostel for 5 days. What would be the nominal charges for the same.

3. How is weather condition nowadays? Should I bring some warm clothes, or normal jackets would be OK?

4. Somewhere I read that Traveler's Cheque are not accepted easily, so what would be the best way to carry amount... should I get some Debit Card, how ever I'd have the local bank's card anyway within some days.

5. Which is nearest International/Domestic Airport from Karlsruhe. If not Intl AirPort then which one would be the best route to follow Frankfurt or some other.

I would be grateful to you if you solve my queries...
Thanks in advance :)

Regards,
Manish

Karlsruhe Visiting Karlsruhe in April (for Resale 2007 exhibition)
Posted: Sun March 11, 2007 09:48 AM UTC
Hello,

My brother and I are on our business trip to Germany in April from India. We are first visiting Hannover (Hannover Messe) then Karlsruhe (Resale 2007) and lastly Munich (BAUMA).

I am planning to leave Hannover by CityNightLine train on April 18 to reach Karlsruhe on April 19 morning. Most of the hotels offer 2PM check-in but we will be there at 5:30 AM. Is there any hotel with 6-7AM check-in which is also economical?

We will have 19th & 20th evenings to enjoy the town and nearby surroundings - any advice? I will love to try local breweries and German beer.

Any ideas for Black Forest trip? We will be going to Munich on April 21 by train and can take detour on that day.

Thanks in advance!
