2 Day Tours from Athens Posted: Mon May 12, 2008 05:59 PM UTC
Has anyone taken a 2 day tour of Meteora from Athens? There are several offered through many different companies. Each includes about 2 hours in Delphi, then the next morning in Meteora.
I know this is not a lot of time in either place, but unfortunately will be in a time crunch so don't have much more than this.
Can anyone offer any reviews of such tours?
Thanks so much!

hellow everybody,
I would like to go on a 1 day tour from athens (where i'm staying) to meteora, because of a tite schedual, and I suppose that the best way of using the time correctly is to take an organized tour. But are there any 1 day organized tours from athens to meteora? and another question is how much is about to cost (i'm on a low budget...)
thanks a lot,

Bus Delphi-Meteora Posted: Sun March 18, 2007 11:40 AM UTC
I have read that the bus from Delphi departed on Friday 3.15 pm and the duration is about 6 hours. So it will be very late when we arrived.
Do anyone know earlier timetables from Delphi - Meteora? Do we had to changed busses? If not, where to overnight between Delphi and Meteora?

Meteora in April? Please, advice Posted: Wed February 21, 2007 06:39 PM UTC
Hi!
Going for the first time to Meteora (and Greece also),
in a first half of April.
What kind of weather to expect? Except of monasteries,
is some simple trecking (say, around Vikos gorge) is already possible?
Help, anyone!

Tours to the monasteries available at Kalampaka? Posted: Sat January 13, 2007 05:00 AM UTC
I am considering a train trip from Athens to Kalampaka in order to tour Meteora. Likely that I would go up the morning of one day and return the afternoon of the next. Would I have an easy time finding a tour or driver in Kalampaka to visit the monasteries?
Is lodging available near the train station?
Much appreciated; very excited to be visiting Greece fot the first time in April. Dale

Directions fomr Athens to Meteora Posted: Sun July 9, 2006 12:27 AM UTC
Hi,
My friends and I are going to be renting a car in Athens and driving up to Meteora. I've been looking around and haven't been able to find any driving directions other than "from Athens head north." I bought a map, but would like to find a way to get accurate directions like "take Road A to exit B and continue north on Road C." Anyone know where I can find some directions or anyone know them? Thanks!

Is there night train/bus from Athens to Trikala? Posted: Fri June 2, 2006 09:18 PM UTC
Hi everyone!
We plan to go to Meteora and since we have quite tight schedule on Greece, taking night train/bus will be a good idea to save some hours. We will arrive around 6pm in Athens and plan to go directly to Meteora. Does anyone know whether there is night train/bus from Athens to Trikala or somewhere close to Meteora? Otherwise we have to stay overnight in Athens and use the early bus/train to Trikala. Any information on the earliest bus/train will also be helpful.
Thanks.
Regards,
Dhina

Driving between Meteora and Athens Posted: Sun May 7, 2006 12:07 PM UTC
We are considering renting a car and driving from Athens to Meteroa and Delphi before flying to Crete at the end of June. We plan to leave Athens on a Sunday morning and depart for Crete Monday afternoon. What is the drive like- length in hours, difficulty following directions, difficulty manuevering the road? Do we have time for Meteora and Delphi? Are there any issues with anyting being closed on Sunday? We haven't set our flight time to Crete and want to figure out our timng.
Any other helpful hints appreciated. Thanks!

Many nice reviews - but need an overview Posted: Wed August 17, 2005 09:46 PM UTC
Would it be possible to explain a little bit about the entire Monastery tour. So if I want to do away with a two-day tour (1) take the train, or (2) hire a car - where exactly is the information on the monasteries? Is there a long road that leads to them? Does everyone select a monastery (sort of like we did with the catacombs in Rome) - please tell me how this works. Very grateful of all the tips, but extremely confused.
So - transportation (maybe stay near by one day) - and how to approach touring the monasteris. Thank you!
Regards,
Martha

help please, on meteora! Posted: Wed May 11, 2005 02:55 AM UTC
Good day! I hope someone cane help me, and quick!
I am a tourist from the Philippines. I saw a review of Koka Roka in Kalambaka, and my family and I are considering it.
I will be traveling with my parents and younger sister to Greece this late May. I have been so worried, because all the guided tours of Meteora are so expensive (at least Eu 105 for only an overnight stay!). However, my mom and my dad are not as young as they once were, and they can’t walk or hike for a long time, so we understand that we might need a guided tour to take us along.
But still, I don’t want them to spend so much money. The thing is, this tour is mostly for me. I wrote a novel on Meteora, and now we’re all going there, but I don’t want anyone to spend so much money on me.
I would like to know if we could still possible catch buses in either Kalambaka or Kastraki to take us to the monasteries of Meteora, so we don’t have to go and take such long walks up the mountains? I am so excited to go to Greece, and to finally see Meteora, but I must confess that I don’t have money enough to spend so much on a tour.
Also, are there buses from and to Athens? How often do they leave, and how much will we have to pay? I'm comparing prices, to see if it would be worth it to just get a Eu 120 tour, or get the bus from Athens, go to Koka Roka in Kastraki, go to each monastery on a bus (if there is one), move at our own pace, then depart for Athens on another bus.
Help!:)

Best place to stay near Meteora and Peloponesse in Greece Posted: Thu March 10, 2005 12:36 AM UTC
I have my honeymoon all planned out. We still are looking for two nights in the Peloponesse and two nights in Meteora.
Does anyone have a recommendations in terms of towns or actual hotels? We prefer moderate price, and cozy. Our current thought is Nafplio and Kalampaka for places to stay.
Here is our honeymoon intinerary so far( http://www.viovio.com/trips/index.php?structure_id=18 ). Take a peak and let us know of any other recommendations. Thanks!

wonderful place Posted: Wed May 12, 2004 05:03 PM UTC
Meteora is just a magical place. We stayed in Parga and hired a car and drove over - stayed overnight. The trip from Parga to Meteora was, to say the least, hair-raising - mountain roads, drivers overtaking on bends etc. - yet all this with really beautiful scenery. Meteora is unique. Those naturally formed sandstone pillars are a geological phenomenon and the monasteries perched on top make one wonder how they were ever built. This is a must see place - don't miss it.
