I'm trying to find the name of a horel in which we had lunch. It was opened within the past 3 years and has a swimming pool looking out across mountains and a valley. Also, it has many black and white photos by a famous Greek (?) photographer; the photos are of the monks and the monasteries.

I am getting married in Skiathos in August and have been thinking about hiring a boat (for about 30 guest) for after our ceremony at the Bourtzi. We were hoping to have some music and drinks and snacks onboard and just take a short tour around.

Do you know of any websites that I could look at or names that I can use of potential boats for this purpose? I was also hoping to get a rough cost before we go so that we can budget...I guess this might not be possible.

Does anyone know if I need a CBT Part 1 to hire a Scooter in Skiathos ?

I will be travelling from Volos to Athens this summer. I wanted to know what is a more reliable and faster means of transportation - the bus or the train. I need to catch a flight from the airport in Athens at 4 pm. I will be arriving in Volos via ferry at 8:30 am. If I take the bus, apparently I will arrive at the bus station in Athens and then have to take a taxi to the Larissa metro before getting to the Airport. If I take the train/rail I will arrive at the Larissa railway station and then take a metro to the airport. Is this correct? Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, I've been trying forever to find out what the timetable is for the ferry but the website doesn't show it. I doesn't seem to matter what route you put in the system, they all don't work. I was wondering about September one way to Thessaloniki.

Will be going soon to Greece. After taking some advice and help of other members we decided to spent 5 nights in Pelion (or Pilio) peninsula. We will not be staying in Volos but in one of the vilages (Aghios Ioannis). We will be staying from Tuesday evening (12 May) until Sunday morning (17 May) when we are going back to Athens to catch our flight.

Now, the big question is - what we should do/see in Pilio? I had a look on google maps to see some pictures, pick those places that look good and just go there - but there are so many of them that drew our attention that if we wanted to see all of it we would have to spend there 2 weeks. We will have a car to make it easier.

What we really hope for is to be able to drive around and visit picturesque places with great views of valleys, mountains and see, beaches with clifs and rocks where you can shoot some great photos and admire wonders of the nature, see some little hidden places with atmoshpere, perhaps have some nice walk for half a day. Perhaps someone know some scenic routes to drive in a car. Anything that is pleasing for the eye.

As I mentioned earlier from the pictures taken by other people all around pelion it should not be difficult to get all that but with limited time we were hoping someone could help us choose the best of the best

Hi mates. We are a family of 2 adults and a child and are going for a cruise on the MSC Poesia. The ship is going to embark in Volos on 4th April from 09:00 am to 19:00. Please advice what's the best to do and see in one day. Is there enough time to visit the monasteries of Meteora or Mount Pelion ? Is it wise to go on tour or is it possible to make it on our own. Hi i am flying into Tessaloniki on the 28th aug arriving at 01.45am i want to get the train to volos does anyone know the train times?
I beleive the ordinary trains are cheaper although a little slower, how do i contact the train companies to find the details i need, as the only one i can find on line is ose. can anyone help?

I understand that there are 4 buses daily that run between Patras and Volos; can anyone tell me what time they depart and arrive (in both directions)?
I am travelling to Skopelos via Italy next month (August) and have one day set aside to travel between the ports of Patras and Volos.
Also, if anyone can tell me how much the bus fare is that would be great, too. Any advice would be much appreciated, particularly as the sites I have found with this kind of information are in Greek only.

I will be staying in Volos with a group for about a week and want to go to Dimini, Sesklo, and Makrinitsa using public transportation. We will be there in March. Is it possible to do this? How much would it cost per person (all adults) and how often might the buses run?

Now booked up for 2 weeks in early July to Skopelos and looking at the possibility of a night on Alonissos. We will be hiring a jeep for a few days to reach those small rocky coves and a boat for a day to reach those with no road access. Before I start contacting companies though, does anyone have any preferences as to hire companies for both the jeep and the boat?
Also I see there are a few boat trips from Skopelos for the day......any in particular that anyone would recommend?
I'd be very interested in an around the island boat trip to help me decide what area I'd need to hire my own boat from as to which bays I need to see. The same applies to Alonissos and any trips to the deserted Islands in the marine park.
When I hire a boat on Skopelos do they allow you to go across to Agh Georgios Isl and Mikro Isl and would combining these with the coastline around Cape Kiourto and southwards then back along to Skopelos town be a possible day trip or would it be a little too much?

I am going to be studying in Volos for two weeks in September and the accommodation is in Alykes. Does any one know how much the bus and taxi is from Volos to Alykes? I am trying to work out how much I will need to spend on transport to Volos and back each day.

I'm a bit confused as to how to get to Volos, as I've never been to Greece before. I'm taking a ferry from Italy into Patras... my questions are:

1. Do I have to get to Athens first in order to get to Volos? I was planning on taking the train from Athens to Volos.

2. In the alternative, is there a bus from Patras to Volos?

3. Is there a direct train route from Athens to Volos? How long should I calculate for the ride?

staying in Volos on the 22 May, firstly due imcompetent EUFA we are short of tickets for the match. Can anyone help ? Secondly where is teh best place to eat & drink reasonably cheaply.

If we take the 10:51 train from Athens to Larissa that arrives in Volos at 14:28, will we have time to transfer to the local train to Volos that departs from Larissa at 14:43? Is 15 minutes enough to make the connection? Do the trains usually run on time?

My fiance and I are planning on getting married in or near Volos this summer and are looking for some advice. We are staying in Kala Nera and were wondering what is the best way to go about asking the Mayor of a nearby village or town to marry us? I have been sending emails to people with web sites like crazy, but no responses so far. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
