Hi!
I will be traveling from Athens airport to Cape Sounio. There is a bus X96 that goes to Peraeus but is there one that goes a more direct route?

Also does anyone know anything about Hotel Saron in Sounio? There doesn't seem to be a booking agent for it and they claim to be 200meters from the beach. Does that mear down a cliff or what? I will be trailing my kayak and level ground would be a real bonus!

Last question: Minos Hotel claims to be in Sounio but it's only 45km from Peraeus?? Also I can't find a booking agent nor a price, nor an address!
Any help would be appreciated.

My wife and I would be reaching Athens from Istanbul by Turkish Airlines flight at 9.30am in June 2009. We need to catch the Olympic Airlines flight to Paros at 13.40pm.

We are Indians and we will be carrying our Greece visas.

So, will 4 hrs be enough to get our visa's stamped and travel from International terminal to Domestic terminal? Are they far away and how are the Greek Immigration counters... efficient or slow?

What about delays in flights? Are flights usually on time in June?

I'm asking all these questions because if it is not sufficient then we can book a later flight at 15.30pm.

Hiya - we are three adults staying in Athens - I am in New Zealand and finding it difficult to confirm whether there are sufficient ferries traveling on 7 August this year. My question is

Shall we wait until we are in Athens to book either Ferry or Airline to Santorini given that we only have three days there and I am afraid we may miss out on a suitable passage to Santorini.

I will be in Thessaloniki for three days from 1 August 2008. I would like to hire a car for those days. Could someone please advise a suitable company. I am arriving at the railway station there so somewhere hany would be good

I am travelling from Athens to Thessaloniki so arriving athens then direct.

I want to take the train to Thessaloniki, so do I catch a bus from the Airport and does it go directly to the train station

By some misfortune I will arrive in Athens at 1am. I want to get to Patras on the 6:15am bus. What is there to do in Athens in between this time?

Hi again,

we arrive with our backpacks at the airport and we will lock them for the day either at Monastiraki or Piraeus metro station. Where can we go shopping for food best on a Saturday morning? We will need to buy some basic supplies for our walking trip, which we will start Sunday morning on Crete.

Is there anywhere an easy to find supermarket? I think if we go inside the town too much there will be rather few supermarkets in the touristy quarters?

I hope somebody can help me out here. I am lebanese and I got one single Schegen visa to Greece. I will be arriving through international flight (not olympic airlines) to Athens, and after 3 hours of arrival, I will have to switch to Olympics domestic flight to Mykonos. Taking into consideration, that I dont have connected flights at all, what is the procedure here? should i go to the imigration to stamp my visa, collect my baggages and then check in again?

and if this is the case, i assume after checking in i wont be going to imigration again right?

I would appreciate if someone can help me in this

We need to reach Athens from Istanbul by morning to catch the Olympic Airways flight to Paros around 3pm.

Would anyone know about the day train from Istanbul, leaving Istanbul at 8.30 reaching Thessaloniki at 22.50 and then an Intercity leaves Thessaloniki at 7.30 to reach Athens by 11.37am.

My questions are:

1. What to do the whole night in Thessaloniki? Is there accommodation at the Station or nearby? Do people keep sitting at the Station itself?

2. Is the Greek Intercity on time or usually late?

3. Approximate fare for the journey.

my girlfriend and me will arrive in Athens airport in the morning. We will stroll through the city during the day and take a ferry to Crete at 8pm. Where can we lock our luggage in Athens during the day, so that we don't have to carry it around? Is there any convenient place? For example, can one lock luggage at the airport, at Piräus metro station or at Larissa train station?

Thank-you all for answering my questions so quickly. It will come in handy. Here then are some very specific questions.
1. How does one get from the cruise ship terminal to the metro station?
2. How much will the cost of the metro be from the port station to the Acropolis station?
3. Other than the Acropolis and the surrounding shops, restaurants, and the museum are there any other must see or do sites when in Athens?
4. Is the walk from the cruise ship terminal to the metro station safe and are there shops and restaurants on the way?

Could someone help out. We will be in Athens for a day off a cruise ship. What would you recommend to see and do? I believe we are there from 7:00am to 6:00pm.
We would like to see the Parthenon etc. Is it easy to get from the cruise ship to the Parthenon and the area surrounding it. I have heard that the area around it has some nice shops and restaurants, etc. How do I get from the ship to that area? Taxi? Metro? Bus? Train? I have read somewhere you can walk to the metro from the docks and then from there it is pretty easy to get to the Acropolis. Are there any really nice areas where there are shops, restaurants, etc. outside of the Acropolis area? Within reach?

While in Athens last year I found a shop near Omonia Sq who sold the best honey I ever had. It was called Four Seasons honey and the shop name was B***** I cant remember the name but it had a wheat logo. I desperately want more of this honey. I am participating in a group event that requires me to be in Vonista at 2 pm on 7/1. I am flying into Athens, but need to be at the Kifisos Central Bus Station to take the 7 am bus to my destination point. I am trying to find a hotel that is close to the bus station, but I am having trouble determining where all the hotels are in relationship to the bus station. The address of the bus station is Leforio Kifisos. Any suggestions????

Our flight into Athens will arrive at 9:25am. We would like to book a connecting flight to Kefalonia which leaves at 11:25am. Is this feasible? We have heard that it takes a lot of time to get around the Athens airport and make connections and we don't know how much time to expect to clear customs. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
