I'm planing on to go Suisse, geneve or lausane for couple month to study my French. So, I'm wondering what look like cost of living over there? Since I'm planing on more than 6 month, let's say if I look for share a place with someone(I don't know if share mate will exist in Suisse, here in North America we have this )how much should I expect to pay? Also, It's seem to me very difficult finding a good school as well even I contacted with emmbassy of Suisse in Canada. If anyone have informations please drop me a line.
Please tell me if 1) any very good restaurants are open for lunch/noontime on Sunday 2) if yes, would you please recommend one or two 3) PLEASE, what are the times for mass at the Cathedral? I have searched for hours; I would like to hear the organ, but can't find when services are held. Thank you very much!! kv
Rail travel via Luxembourg
Posted: Sun February 3, 2008 07:43 PM EST
I plan a trip in the spring. I remember that I saw a special rail deal connecting Luxembourg, Trier, Saarbrucken & Metz. Is there such a pass? If so, how does it work. I plant to base in Trier a few days and it would be good to know.
In lieu of that what is the fare between Lux. and Trier and Lux. and Nancy or Metz? I could not find a Luxembourg rail site to get this info.
Thanks
my daughter is coming next week to stay in nancy for a year. what is nancy like-compare to paris? we wonder what are the prices there..tomatoes, milk, fruits..etc. what is the best chain to buy food (center city) and if there is a daily or weekly food market and where is it located. thanks for any help
We're planning to go to Metz and Nancy in later July and we're wondering if it's better to have reservations or just turn up and look for a place to stay. Any suggestions, we'll be arriving and leaving by train in both areas.
My wife and I will be traveling to nancy and Metz for a few days in between the Chapagne region and Luxembourg. Was wondering if anyone had recommendations for Nancy and Metz or things nearby?
My daughter will be studying at the Georgia Tech campus near Metz this summer. I am trying to decide the best place for her to fly into in May, 2007. If this fast train from Paris will be operating then, perhaps it would be best. I have also considered Luxembourg and Strasbourg. Any tips you have will be appreciated. She is will be travelling with a young man so she will not be travelling alone.
Hello, I am starting a teaching job in the Metz suburbs in October and will be living there until May. I think the custom for finding an apartment in France is to pay a bunch of money to an agence and get a list of appartments, then pay 2 months rent security deposit, etc. Is this what everyone does, including students? I'm American and I'm used to not having to find an agency, just going out and picking up rental guides for free. How do most students in town end up finding apartments and such? Is there any areas or districts of Metz that are better/worse than others for safety/crime? Anyone have any good apartment leads?
My boyfriend and I will be going to France in August. I want to visit the battlefield and monuments at Verdun, but I would also like to see more of the region. Should we stay in the town of Verdun itself? If we wanted to stay in Metz or Nancy, how difficult would it be to visit Verdun? We will be traveling mostly by train, but had planned to rent a car while in this area. We will have two or three days in the area.
Greetings. We're four South Africans planning a barging holiday in Alsace- Lorraine in mid-August, 2006. We'll travel from Zurich to Strasbourg by train on Friday, August 18, and need to get to our barging base at Lutzelbourg, preferably that same day. Does anyone have any suggestions on (a) the best and/or quickest way to get from Strasbourg to Lutzelbourg and (b) any nice places to stay overnight in Lutzelbourg. We only have to collect our barge (a Locaboat Penichette) on the Saturday (August 19), but we'd like to spend the evening in Lutzelbourg as we've heard it's really worth a visit.
In a few weeks I need to travel to Salonnes, which is located some 25 kms east of Nancy, France. From Nancy, there should be buses to Salonnes (or Chateau Salins). Does anybody know where I can find a timetable for this service?

Can anyone living there or visiting, call into the Brisbane shop and say "Bonjour" from me, Paul (the man in the hat)from Brisbane, to the nice, tres bon, Manager lady to whom I spoke when I visited last year 2004.
I'm from Brisbane, here in Australia, so I thought it odd that I should happen upon such a shopname there in the wilds of France. I had just succumbed to a cold that I picked up on cold night in Nancy and wasn't feeling the best, when I walked up the Grand Rue when a mucica festival was occurring and there it was, The Brisbane Shop. It bought a smile to my face and I felt good to be here in Sarrebourg.
I'm sure that the french people have forgiven me for my driving as I had an "Kangaroo" and "Bonjour" sign in the car's back window and I waved my hands a lot. The school children in the back street where I parked the car even knew that I was from Australia, which was welcoming.
Thank you to the people of Sarrebourg and to the lady in the Brisbane Shop.
Is there a place not far away called Zorrange? - near a big lake - I took photos of some horses there but forgot to write the location.
Anyone from Sarrebourg can write me. Thanks. Paul from Brisbane, Australia

I will be travelling from Paris to Vittel in January. What is the best way to do that. I was thinking economically the train would be the best way to go. Which train/s do I take and what is the time it takes and $$?
Hello, I am taking a group of Canadians to Nancy on Dec 6, 2003, for the Christmas market for the day. We have just heard that the Chamber of commerce has changed the format-it used to be four markets and is now 1? Any further info? What market square? Also, can anyone recommend a restaurant that can accommodate between 25 - 30 for supper (between 1800 - 2000 hrs) with an a la carte menu and children's menu (we have children of all ages with us). Preferably a separate room or corner of a nice restaurant that is reasonably tolerant and not to far from the market square?
Thanks in advance
