Me and a group of friends are thinking of visitin Wroclaw for a weekend in February, but are worried the nightlife might be a little quiet during winter. What do you think? Will the bars and clubs be busy as they would be in the summer?

Is there a regular bus that runs between Wroclaw and Boleslawiec?

I'm also interested to know if there are buses between Boleslawiec and Liberec in Czech republic, as my main aim is to visit the Ceramic Factory in Boleslawiec, but the closest direct bus route I can find from Prague is to Wroclaw.

I was interested in visiting Wroclaw (formerly Breslau) to find information about my mother who was born and raised there during pre-WW2. I also wanted to know if anyone could give places to see or historical sites that pre-date the war. Thanks.

Hi, I'm a 21 year old student from Sydney, Australia. In Wroclaw for a few more months. I don't really do anything here at the moment...just kind of 'finding myself'. Not as glamorous as it sounds, books lie. I don't know many people here at all. I'd love to meet travellers around my age for drinks and things like that. I am travelling to Wroclaw next month and I dont have a clue how to get to the hostel (Stranger Hostel located in ul. Kollataja) from the airport. I am hiring a car for the trip as I am planning on visiting many different places.

I have looked on their website, but I don't know its location within the city. I have tried looking on maps on the internet without any luck :(

Any help please? It is grately appreciated.

I am visiting Wroclaw with my girlfriend soon and I notice that Slask Wroclaw are playing I was thinking of going to watch. I just have a couple of questions if anyone can help?!?
* Is it safe to go (especially with my girlfiend)? I have read/seen lots of reports of Polish football hooligans etc.
* Do the sports shops sell Slask Wroclaw shirts? How much are they?

One of my friends is going to live in Wroclaw Poland for a few months. She's looking for a room ( possibly a little flat) to rent. She knows Polish. Can anyone recommend any links to websites with advertisements where one can find rooms/ flats to rent?

I'm in Wroclaw and need advice on traveling to the Auschwitz memorial by public transport. Any suggestions? Are there buses or trains that go there from Wroclaw directly?

How would you recommend travelling around the city? In particular we arrive at the Train Station and need to get to the HP Plaza hotel. Is this walking distance or would you recommend a bus or taxi?

I think I'm staying somewhere in the city center where everything is close by, but still, it's a differnet experience because locals know the less-touristy more-interesting places.

Have you ever been to Dom Wroclawski pension (hostel)- Ulica Milicka number 42. ? The price is 13 euro per person in double room. Is it too far from city center. What is your experiance about the hostel ?

Has anyone stayed at the Stranger Hostel?? If so, would you recommend it for 8 men to stay in for a weekend. We just want somewhere cheap and clean. Any feedback would be appreciated.......or any recommended alternative hostels, hotels or guesthouses for us to stay??

As most of you know, german_eagle and me (HORSCHECK) are coiming to Wroclaw next weekend.

It is about time to finalise things for a Wroclaw VT meeting on Friday
26th of May 2006.

Up to now it looks like the following members are interested to join:

The plan at the moment is (subject to change):

We meet outside the Tourist Information at the Rynek at 19:30 h.

Then we go for dinner to a local restaurant. One member already suggested the following place:

After that we could go for some drinks to a local pub.

This is only a suggestion. So if you have any other ideas for

I am going to be in lovely Wroclaw in two weeks. As I just got home from a two weeks trip to Portugal and Spain I am running out of time to plan my Wroclaw trip.

So here are a few questions which I hope to get answered here:

ACCOMODATION:
I am looking for an affordable single room (budget 20-30 Euro) in a sort of private accomodation like guesthouse or pension. A local hotel would be okay as well. Centrally located would be best, but I also don't mind walking or taking public transport as long as it doesn't take more than 25 minutes from the city centre.

(2)
TRANSPORT FROM THE AIRPORT:
Is bus #406 the best option to get from the airport to the city centre by public transport? How often does this bus operate and where can I buy tickets (kiosks or from the driver)? How much is the fare?

(3)
PUBLIC TRANSPORT:
Is it correct that people still have to pay an extra fare for oversized luggage (e.g. rucksack)?


(4)
GENERAL INFO:
All other special tips about sightseeing, restaurants, pubs, transportation, local customs and stuff are welcome.

I read in former threads that there was an overnight train from Wroclaw to Prague. Someone knows if it is still runing and where can I find its timeschedule and fare? I would like to take it at the end of June but I in differente webs I can only find daytime trains with many stops and not a direct overnight one.

I was wondering if there were any places worth seeing near Wroclaw, either driving to there from Krakow or from there to Warsaw (other than Auschwitz).

Basically, I am just looking for anything that is worth a quick stop without spending a lot of time. I was thinking a detour through Opole or maybe through Czestochowa on the way from Auschwitz. If they are too far out of the way, it won't be worth it. Or, if there is a something on the way to Warsaw from Wroclaw (Lodz?)

Can anybody tell me how easy it is to get to the footie stadium in Wroclaw. I am on a stag weekend in Wroclaw this coming weekend and see that Slask are at home on Saturday. What is the best way to get to the stadium from the town centre. We are staying at the Mercure Panorama. Thanks anybody who can help

I am planning on going to Wroclaw in June for my friend's stag do. There will be about 8 of us and I was just wondering if Wroclaw is lively enough to have us there. Will there be plenty of bars showing the football World Cup? What will the weather be like in June.

Hi, my name is Alberto I'm 34, i'm from milan italy and one months ago I travel to Prague and then to Wroclaw, before meeting some friends in Berlin.
I've really loved Wroclaw, nice people, nice clubs, nice places... so i've decided to live in there for at least one month starting in february (I'm working with my notebook so i can do that from everywhere... as I hope i could also remain in wroclaw one year or more if i really enjoy my stay)

My question is? How could I found an apartament for 1 month (I had a look on the past threads and i just found some sites in polish - big problem for me -)

So, my idea is to come by plane (last time a was by car) bringing with me my bycicle and for the first 2 o 3 night i could stay at sofitel close to rynek square (i've founded a very good offer) and then starting asking people (I love socialize) ... Two problems: 1)I can't stay one month @ sofitel it's too expensive, and also I don't like to stay at the hotel for more than 3 days, i really prefer to live a place in the right way not like a tourist)
2)i need to have an internet connection in the apartament!

I know, I'm probably asking too much, but i've found in poland very nice persons so i hope you could help me.

I am a single father who may be moving into Wroclaw with a four year old Daughter. I very badly needed some information and hence am trying to solicit information here..

Few questions on Wroclaw
- What is the level of understanding of English on an average in the street and schools ?
- Do I have lot of options for English speaking day care centrem, early age schools and how much do they cost, what is their timing ? (I am non native speaker but for her age, my daughter speaks as good english as a native child)
- How expensive would be English speaking (or not) governess for my daughter who can stay with us (or work from 8 in the morning till 8 in the night with weekend off)
- What is the range of price for a Motor Bike or a entry level car
- How is the range of price for the rental for a 2 bed room appartment (modest/good)
- Any special precautions warnings that would be applicable to my special situation
