Zakopane walking from zakopane to bratislava!
Posted: Mon June 4, 2007 09:25 PM UTC
We are a group of 8 that are arriving at end of june and walking from zakopane over into slovakia. We have 1 week...I would be very grateful if anyone could help with the following questions
-which is the best way from krakow to zakopane? How much would a taxi cost for 8 of us?
-Which route should we take to the border? I have heard that the Tatras are very busy with lots of walkers...should we head for other mountains instead?
-And finally...we have heard that all the mountain huts in the area are already booked up?! Could this be true?! Is there a website for the huts? Could camping be an option or would it be too chilly?
If anyone could help us with any of these questions we would be most grateful!
Thank you!!!!!

Zakopane from Poprad to Zakopane
Posted: Sun May 13, 2007 08:06 PM UTC
Please can anyone tell me how to get from Poprad to Zakopane?
I have seen references to buses but don't know whether they are current or outdated.
If there are busues, how do I get a timetable? Do they run on Sundays? Is there a slow bus via mountain villages or is it an express? Any info appreciated.

Zakopane Recommendation for 3 days staying in Zakopane and surrounding ?
Posted: Sat April 7, 2007 03:20 PM UTC
Big hello,

We would like to visit Zakopane region for 3 days during the august. Last year We made only short trip from Krakow to Zakopane, and we visited Morskie oko lake. What is your recommendation for 3 days abode ?
We would like to visit some easy hiking routes (we are not very brave and experienced), we are especially interested to visit the valley of five polish lakes ? Is it difficult and dangerous route, how long it takes from Zakopane ? I have read that route Orla perc is for braver:). Is it possible to avoid this route in our way to Five polish lakes and what is the fastest way to get back to Zakopane ? Is it possible to do in a day ?
Except five polish lakes, what is it worth to see (except Morskie oko, cause we have already were there last year) ?

Do not hesitate to propose an itinirery for 3 days.
Thanks in advance.

Zakopane Trekking in High Tatra near Zakopane next week possible?
Posted: Sat March 31, 2007 10:16 AM UTC
Hi,

next week I'm going to Poland and I'd like to trek around the five Valleys area. Is it possible or is there too much snow?

How much snow in cm on an altitude at 1700m?

Or what area would you recommend to do some hiking? I have a tent and I do not depend on huts. I don't need to go into high mountains, but I don't like to walk all the day through forests... Maybe there is any nice hilly area in southern Poland where is not that much (or no!!) snow??

Greetings

if you could answer any one of these questions we would be happy for your reply.

1.How is the snow conditions?

2. How is the offpiste conditions?

3. Are are the operators strict about skiing offpiste? I've heard it is pretty strict, they clip your skipass in two and so on...?

4. How are the people in the town? criminals, youth gangs, nice barowners, the operators of the skiing resort and so on.

5. Have anyone stayed at szarotka pensionat? How is it?

6. Any places we should eat, or definitely should not eat? Any cool activities that few tourists know about?

7. Is it safe to travel by bus from krakow? i'm thinking about the equipment, i've heard there's alot of stealing on the train, does this apply to the bus aswell?

8. How much is the cab fare from zakopane town center to the cable car to kasprowy wierch?

9. Is there any good afterski og nightclubs there?

10. Any other tips? things to beware of, things that could help us?

Zakopane Travel from Krakow to Zakopane
Posted: Thu January 18, 2007 11:38 AM UTC
I was interested to see the earlier questions and answers about this as I am interested for travel in March. I checked on the internet for this information, but my flight arrives around 20:00 and I did not think I could make it for the last train or bus from Krakow to Zakopane which seemed to leave at 20:30. Someone tells me that these are the main forms of transport but there are other bus companies that operate later - could someone advise me if this is correct and direct me perhaps to some timetables so I can see what the latest time of departure is and cost. Thank you.

My wife and I wish to visit Poland this May/June with Warsaw,Krakow,Zakopane as centres for our tours. The buses I have been on do not have adequate leg/seating room. What is our best choice for distance travel (more than one hour) ---highway motorcoach or first class train? Zakopane Off Piste Guides
Posted: Fri December 8, 2006 01:08 PM UTC
Hey there,

I'm heading up to Zakopane around Christmas this year and would be keen to get a fair bit of off piste skiing done. Assuming that this winter actually kicks in and there's snow by then!

I was wondering if it's possible (or necessary) to find good guides to show us around some good areas. It'd be great if none are needed, but where should we look if we do need one?

Thanks for your help.

Hi there,

Does anyone know when the ski season in this region actually starts? We've been surfing the internet endlessly and kind find anything to inform us.

We were hoping to do some skiing around 11th December either in Poland or Slovakia. Can anyone recommend places to visit in these or nearby regions in Eastern Europe at this time?

Cheers,

Zakopane Taxi from Krakow airport to Zakopane
Posted: Tue October 31, 2006 03:38 PM UTC
Hi Everyone
I'm having a nightmare trying to get a transfer from Krakow airport to Zakopane. The taxis that you can pre-book charge around 400-500PLN each way. I've paid less for my flights from the UK.
Does anyone know if it's cheaper to just get a taxi that is waiting in the airport?
Or does anyone know if it's relatively easy to get from the airport to the resort via bus or train.
Thanks in advance for any advice given!!

I am trying to find accommodation for 4 people from 31/12/06 - 04/01/07 in Zakopane preferably an apartment. I've contacted over 40 hotels and apartments and they are all fully booked even though NYE is not for another 3 months.

Does anyone have any suggestions or should I just give up and go somewhere else?

Zakopane How much snow in December?
Posted: Tue October 3, 2006 12:53 PM UTC
Hi,

I'm interested in going skiing in Zakopane in mid-December (around 10-17 Dec) and I wondered whether anyone could tell me anything about the general conditions there at that time of year.

I realise it is very early in the season to ask this, but does anyone know from previous experience whether there is likely to be good snowfall there in mid-December?

If anyone can offer any advice I would be very grateful as I would really like to book a holiday there, but not if there's no snow!

Many thanks in advance
