Breda to Rijen Posted: Mon January 5, 2009 07:50 PM UTC
Hi There,
I'm travelling to The Netherlands in a few weeks to work in Rijen for 3 days. I was hoping to stay in Breda for the duration of my stay rather than in Rijen as there is a better choice of accomodation in Breda. I was wondering how easy it is to get from Breda to Rijen. I know that there is a train station in Rijen but I would still have a relatively long walk in the cold and possible snow to my place of work (Ericsson). How much approx would a taxi to Rijen from Breda cost each day? Or altrenatively is it possible to get a taxi from the Rijen train station to my office?
Thanks in advance,
Lauren

Hello all
I'm interested in visiting the Polish Military Cemetery when i am in Breda. Just wondering if someone can give me directions to it?
Is it far from the city centre? Would i be better off getting a taxi or is there good public transport to there?
Thanks!

Three Horseshoes Posted: Thu September 18, 2008 12:40 AM UTC
Back in 2005 Nathalie B wrote: "Before known as "Drie Hoefijzers" (Three horse shoes) it later became Oranjeboom"
Wow. I want to visit any remnant of Oranjeboom when I drive through Breda in November. Does anyone know if the brewery is still there? Where would I find it? Under what name?
My interest is in "Three Horse Shoes" - that was the name of an inn back in the very early 1700s in Breda. I want to research a connection.
Thank you for any help about this you can provide.

Breda or Bergen op Zoom? where to stay? Posted: Wed January 30, 2008 07:42 AM UTC
good morning VTers :)
I'll be visiting Bergen Op Zoom for a week soon and I really had a hard time finding anything useful about it. I have few questions and I hope you guys help me out here.
- Is Breda the closest city to BoZ? and how far is it?
- if yes, will it be easy to stay in Breda and go to work every morning in BoZ, or is it going to be a tiring?
- what is the best option for me regarding airports close to Bergen op Zoom?
------
BoZ questions:
is there any fast food, major hotels, or cinmas there?
1st time in netherland...
And thanks in advance everyone :)

Finding a cat-sitter Posted: Tue August 8, 2006 05:26 PM UTC
VT might not be the most appropriate place to post this question, but I don't know where else to reach the Breda community online. Does anyone know of a responsible cat-loving person who could come to my apartment once a day to take care of my cat while I'm away for a few days? I'm moving to Breda on Thursday 10 August and will post a sign for a cat-sitter at the pet store on Grote Markt. How much should a cat-sitter be paid for 5 days of 20 minute visits?

Bus to Schiphol? Posted: Wed July 19, 2006 05:54 PM UTC
I'll be moving to Breda in 3 weeks and can't help but notice how expensive the trains are. When I was in Breda last week (finding an apartment) I was delighted to find a Connexxion bus to Antwerp for 11 euros -- much cheaper and faster than taking the train. Does anyone know of a similar bus service to Schiphol or any major Dutch cities? And where do all those Eurolines buses go?

coffeeshops in Breda? Posted: Fri July 8, 2005 01:02 PM UTC
Hi..My husband and I were thinking of driving up to Amsterdam from Paris in October, 2005. However, we would prefer to not go so far and still enjoy our first visit to NL. Breda sounds and looks lovely. It seems easier to get around than a large city like Amsterdam, where I understand driving and parking is a nightmare! Are there some nice, quiet coffeeshops in Breda? Also, any recommendations for hotels WITH a parking garage? We would prefer to park the car and leave it there for the duration of our stsy. Is this a realistic plan?....Many thanks in advance!

Hi new to VT Posted: Fri April 15, 2005 04:36 PM UTC
Hi All,
I'm new to VT but I've been living in Breda now for 9 months. Havent learnt much Dutch yet but I did a 1yr evening course before moving here. Also looking for courses, as the only one i've found so far was 45Eur/Hour! My wife is Dutch but she cant really teach me...
I was until march working in Antwerp but now I also find myself out of work! So any tips on places non dutch speakers can find good jobs would be helpful too.
I've visited the highlights of Breda now (Irish Pub, Brooklyn, Mexican restaurant) but I'm always open for suggestions on other good places. Like where's a decent Thai and whats the curry house like? :)
Cheers,
Mark.
