Prefecture of Chania Month-long Low Season Stay
Posted: Fri October 2, 2009 09:00 AM UTC
My girlfriend and I will be in Chania town for the entire month of January for a class I'm taking there. I'm looking for a studio at the minimum, potentially up to a 3-bedroom house/villa/apartment within 5kms of Chania town. Is there a site where I can find information for a stay of this magnitude, or can anyone point me to people to contact to find a rental?

Thanks :)

Chania Looking for some shopping info to help in some wedding planning.
Posted: Fri November 28, 2008 06:09 PM UTC
Howdy,

I'm looking for a couple of things in Chania. We are having our wedding there next June and I am researching several things for the wedding. Looking for restaurants that do catering, flower shops, and liquor/wine shops. Would love some local insight on places that would fit the bill. Cheers!

1- Do you know a place where i can sleep on a budget between 20/25 euros (not more...)?
I would appreciate it.

Prefecture of Chania Visiting Crete for first time - off the beaten track
Posted: Tue June 10, 2008 06:07 PM UTC
Hi, myself, my boyfiend and his 11yr old son are flying into Chania at the beginning of July and want to head to the south coast of Crete to walk the Samaria gorge and visit Loutro. Does anyone have any tips where we should head to as a base and what kind of accommodation we could expect to find? We want somewhere quiet and not very developed but still things to do and places to eat. We are quite happy visiting secluded beaches, we like wildlife, ruins and castles and can we get someone to take us out on a boat? we like snorkelling so are there any good spots? Any help would be appreciated. We were thinking of heading to Hora Sfakion or Plakias - any suggestions?

Prefecture of Chania Transportation from Chania Airport
Posted: Fri February 8, 2008 06:56 PM UTC
We arrive to Chania from Athens at the end of August sometime around 8pm; our hotel is right on the harbor.

I was reading around that we can take a bus or taxi. Do buses run that late there? What would the cost be taxi vs bus? And if we can take a bus, is it pretty hard to find the bus stop at the airport?

Chania Accomodation Marathi
Posted: Mon May 28, 2007 10:54 AM UTC
My family and I are going to Chania from the 16th of June and we are going to stay for a week.

Normally we stay somewhere in the middle of Chania and Platanias but we have always been driving to the Marathi beach.

This year we like to stay at Marathi, and we are looking for a nice apartment for four in the Marathi area.

Any suggestions?

Prefecture of Chania Ammos Hotel Feedback
Posted: Fri May 11, 2007 03:25 PM UTC
Planning to be in Chania in early July.

Has anyone stayed at the Ammos Hotel (about 4 km west of Chania). Is the location convenient for evenings in old Chania? Are there tervernas or cafes in it's vicinity or is it very secluded.

How are the views from the sea side rooms? Hospitality?

Thanks for your help.

Chania Some first time traveler questions - Banking, car rental, etc.
Posted: Mon March 5, 2007 01:49 AM UTC
First, are there banking machines allowing the withdrawl of Euros?

Second, I understand that renting cars from around the airport is expensive, where do you suggest renting?

Third, if we stay at the Ammos Beach Hotel, how difficult is it to get into the old town (by car, or other ways)?

I ate at a wonderful restaurant in the Venitian Old Town on the waterfront. At the end of the meal they served, I believe, vanilla ice cream and a wonderful liquor. What is the liquor? Thank you in advance.

Prefecture of Chania Travel during busy time...
Posted: Fri June 23, 2006 11:58 AM UTC
My 14yo son & I will be travelling to Greece from the US the first 2 wks of August. I know this is busy time. We will fly directly into Athens. I am trying to decide if we should then take a flight into Chania, or should we ferry? Your thoughts?? Same thing for the return. My father lives in Chania & we will probably stay w/him the majority of the time. However, since this is probably a once-in-a-lifetime trip, should I plan to do one or 2 overnites elsewhere? Was planning to head back to Athens 1 or 2 days prior to our return flight to check sites there. Any thoughts/tips are greatly appreciated! Also tips on what to pack.... ~ Taya
