Greece Seeking domatia accomodation from late September to October
Posted: Thu July 9, 2009 04:41 PM UTC
Hello all,

We are seeking to experience Greece and it's culture from late Sep. to October. Our itinerary would include Mykonos, Santorini, Crete, Athens and the Peloponnese.

Are any home-owners in Greece seeking to rent out a room?

Any way to contact someone looking to provide domatia accomodation would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Mykonos mykonos to santorini
Posted: Fri July 3, 2009 05:16 AM UTC
my wife and I will be visiting mykonos in mid september. I would like some suggestions on a more local, quiet, greek style island, with local eateries(preferably seafood) and bars and maybe even a beach or two,and maybe explore the island by motorbike, where we can chill for 3 or 4 days, and then continue onto santorini. I know I am asking a lot, I want it all, without the crowds or the inflated expense, but is there such a place? Thank you for your time.

Greece Accomodation tips
Posted: Wed July 1, 2009 02:52 PM UTC
Me and my boyfriend are going to Greece in late August, two week stay. We will fly to Athens and then stay with some friends that live a bit outside of Athens (1 hour east) for some of the time.

However, we need to find both an island, not toooo far from Athens, and accomodation.

So - any good tips for islands? We are absolutely no party people, but like good food and wine, and a nice atmosphere. We like to have fun like most people our age I guess (30-40). We also like culture, history and hiking. I have been to Greece many times, but have either lived there or went on package deal trips. Have been to different places on Crete, Egina, Poros, Peloponese, Chios and Skiathos. Guess I liked the Pelopponese and Chios best, but also the other ones.

And then the most difficult thing... Some people say book from home - here the problem is to find the good web pages, that have good selection and not expensive. Both hotel rooms, apartments and houses are fine.

Then there are those that say u can get a room/flat/apartment when you arrive, even in August, and especially these days (financial crisis and all)...

So if anyone has good tips on how to proceed, and links, that would be very helpful.

Hi all,

I'll be traveling from Piraeus to Crete (Heraklio) next week. I want to learn two things.

1) From which dock the vessels of Minoan Lines depart?

2) I'll be staying at "Kallirrois 16, Athens, 11743" What is the easiest way of getting to the dock from this address.

Prefecture of Thessaloniki Excursion from Thessaloniki
Posted: Thu June 25, 2009 10:58 AM UTC
Anyone living in or near here willing to pick me up next year and go to Pella and Vergina. And also maybe Phillipi? I'm having trouble finding any company offering scheduled tours and private services are too expensive. I really dont want to rely on local buses either. And, I dont drive.

Virtually of the tour companies run tours from Athens. Macedonia tours for 3 or 5 days are also pricy since I am a single and there is a single supplement.

Crete Island Crete on a budget
Posted: Thu June 25, 2009 10:14 AM UTC
We will be in Crete for one week from 3 July-10 July and we will be based in Elounda. We are on a budget holiday but I understand Elounda is a upmarket part of the island, is this true and will we be able to eat at modestly priced restaurants?

My research suggests that it is inexpensive to eat out in Crete but I would imagine there are places that cater just for the tourists so will be more expensive. I would like to know where the locals eat out and what places nearby they recommend we visit?

We are interested in the culture of Crete/greece so we would like the opportunity to experience local history, festivals and food. Of course, we are aware that popular landmarks will have tourists but what would the locals suggest that we do to get the most from Crete?

Athens Day trip to Delphi
Posted: Wed June 24, 2009 11:30 PM UTC
Hi everyone,

I was reading the posts below and have a question on doing a day trip to Delphi. I read below that a package tour would cost about $110 - I was wondering how much it would cost if I did the trip by myself, taking the bus, etc. Besides having a more convenient trip/schedule, what's included in the package? A guide? Lunch? Entrance fees? I'm trying to decide whether it's worth it to spend that money. If it's just transportation that adds more than 50% on the price then I'd pass, however, if it comes with a decent guide and maybe some extras, I might consider...

Thanks!

Greece Going to Athens for 9 Nights with My Brother...Which Islands to visit?
Posted: Mon June 22, 2009 05:25 PM UTC
So, I'm 24 years old going to Greece with my 21 year old brother. We arrive the night of july 4th in Athens and then fly out of Athens on the afternoon of july 13th.

Trying to setup an itinerary for our trip> I was thinking to spend the 4th, 5th, and 12th in Athens. And then divide the rest of the time visiting the islands. I was thinking Mykonos and Santorini but i am open to other suggestions as well.

We like to party and do outdoor activities (hiking, swimming etc). What do you suggest we do with our time, and where should we stay?

Let me know.

Thanks
