I am flying into Brussels on a Friday morning at 7 AM. I need to get to Maastricht by 4 PM. What would be the suggested method of getting there? I am getting conflicting information on train and bus scheduling sites to thought I'd try here.

What bus number is it?

Can I buy the ticket at CS or around the area at a ticket office?

How long does it take?

Am I correct that strippenkaarts are not accepted?

I was pondering whether the train or the bus was the best option. Price and time are big factors.

I might as well change my name to 'veolia', since I have so many questions about their service.

Ordinarily I buy a ticket from the driver to get into Aachen from Maastricht. I imagine that this is more expensive. It always seems to cost around 8 Euros or so for a round trip.

Is there a place that sells Veolia bus tickets either in Maastricht CS or around the station?

Any idea what the cost would be for a round trip for one person?

If I'm not mistaken, strippenkaarts are not accepted on 420.

I am going to spend some time in Valkenburg instead of Maastricht this year, and have many transport questions.

I'll start with this one.

I know that Veolia operates a train from Maastricht to Valkenburg.

Does anybody know if the train accepts strippenkaarts? If so, how many zones would I have to stamp?

Also, if choosing a bus route, what line would I use from outside Maastricht CS?

Any idea how many strips/zones this might take?

I go to the o.v. page for advice, but it isn't really clear about how many zones it would require, or if the train takes strip tickets.

We would like a fun place/casual but not too expensive. Any ethnic cuisine is interesting to us.

I am planning on going to Maastricht from Aachen. They only lie about 15 km from one another, but since there is no direct train line running between the 2, the journey takes over an hour!

What is a quicker, better way to make this journey? Is there a coach that one can take? We will be a group of 4, so would it be better take a taxi? Any help is appreciated!

This is the Father (in USA) with a daughter studying in Maastricht. I just recieved a phone call from her informing me that her HP Pavillion DV1000 notebook computer screen just went black. The computer is out of it's warrenty period. QUESTION: Where would you suggest she go to see if the computer can be fixed---(in Maastricht)? My daughter, from USA, is studying in Masstricht. She phoned me today complaining of a stiff/sore back---painful. She thought a Chiropractor would be of help, she doesn't know how to go about finding one. I (father) immediately told her to talk to a school counselor--- she promised she would. But, in the meantime, I thought I would ask this Forum for advice/ information. Anyone know of a Chiropractor in or near Maastricht? ---Also what type of health system does Holland have, would it be costly, or impossible, for my daughter to get assistance. which is the easiest,quickest,cheapest and more reliable way to reach aachen from maastricht central station?

Has it really been two years since the last Maastricht meeting? I guess that makes it time for me to start organising the next one. In 2003 we had about 25 guests, in 2005 this number had risen to approximatelx 40. What's next?

We will have a major meeting during the weekend of 10/12 August with 3 days of fun and excitement. The main part of the meeting will take place in Maastricht on Saturday. Expect food, drinks, sightseeing, fun and friends.

But on the Friday before, we can already start things up. For this day I'd like to go outside of Maastricht, perhaps to pay a visit to the wonderful city of Valkenburg, or maybe go hiking along the Geul river?

And then there's Sunday to consider too. Those of you who have a long breath may want to join me on another exploration of Maastricht. This time we could visit the caves or the underground tunelling system. Or if you prefer a nice boatride. We'll see what happens, it's all in the planning stages as it is now.

But one thing is certain, this will be an amazing weekend you don't want to miss.

Is there a campsite in or near Maastricht? I've read that the Dousberg site has been turned into a golf course, is this true?! Is there anywhere else? I can only find places in Valkenburg and I think that it might be a bit too 'touristy' there for me.

I'm not planning to camp until the summer, but part of the pleasure of a holiday for me is planning it and looking forward to it. :-)
