Schiphol SHORT PRIVATE TOUR OF AMSTERDAM FROM AIRPORT
Posted: Sat April 19, 2008 06:01 AM UTC
4 of us will have a 2 hr. 55 min. layover in Amsterdam, then continue on to the
United States. Would we have enough time to hire a private driver and he take us on a small drive into the city, perhaps a knowledgable person who could point out any spots of interest? Or, should we take the train I have read about and count on it getting us back on time? Or, should we just ditch the idea and miss seeing this wonderful place I have read so much about and am just heartbroken I will not be staying there for any time? However, another time will come around. Thanks

Schiphol Connecting Time
Posted: Mon October 1, 2007 08:03 PM UTC
On my upcoming trip I am questioning if this is a safe connection. My arrival in Amsterdam will be at 08:15, coming from the US. It looks like I will need to go throught passport control in Amsterdam, along with claiming baggage and to check-in again for the flight to Munich on a different airline. The connecting flight is scheduled to depart at 11:05. Does this appear to allow enough time for this connection, or shall I consider something later?

Thank You in advance for all your help.

Schiphol Handluggage security control in transit
Posted: Sun July 2, 2006 02:09 PM UTC
On Saturday, July first 2006, we were trying to catch the connecting flight to Düsseldorf coming from Houston with KL 662. In the transfer hall the security check did not allow me to take my small fishing rod (3 pieces of 40 cm each stored in a closed etui) to the gate. We were extremely in a hurry to catch this connection but obviously the person in charge took pleasure to play slow and he developed a really bad, arrogant, even insulting attitude. took the rods out of the holder, assembled them and showed his colleagues hos to fish by swinging the rod. He was laughing and teasing me, saying yiou see I also catch a fish. Finally we decided to leave the rod overthere and to catch our connection...is this allowed ? did we infringe any rule ? how to file a complaint ? where is the list of forbidden items to be found ? (umbrella's, sticks, radio antenna, foldable child trolleys, belds with lage buckles,...should also be classified as "dangerous", or not ??? Anyone had a similar experience ? Thanks for any help !!!

Schiphol tax free shopping
Posted: Thu August 7, 2003 09:40 PM UTC
I hope pieter_jan_v picks up on this one. He has a fine Schiphol page :-)

My question:
I am Dutch and leaving Schiphol (Amsterdam airport) in a few weeks to go to Malta.
Can I go tax free shopping at Schiphol if my destination is Malta?
European citizens cannot do this anymore if they are travelling within the EU but I am unsure of the status of Malta at this particular time.
Thanks for replying!
