Utrecht Schiphol by train to Utrecht
Posted: Sat February 12, 2005 02:56 AM UTC
We plan to take a train to Utrecht from the airport. I have seen schedules that show direct (no change) to Utrecht takes 60 minutes, or change in Duivendrecht that take about 40 minutes. What is best?

Also, can we buy a return ticket that we will not use until we leave about one week later, or must it be bought separately?

The whole train situation has me confused, especially the part of validating tickets before getting on the train. Is there a site that explains all of this? I am used to just handing the ticket to the conductor.

Thanks
PhillyJohn

Utrecht renting a car
Posted: Tue February 1, 2005 01:20 AM UTC
I am considering renting a car in Utrecht for one day to get to places the trains don't go to. Is this a complicated process? I am not sure of price etc. What is the best way to get information? I am assuming their are auto rentals in Utrecht.

Utrecht a drink at Utrecht? What not to miss this weekend?
Posted: Fri December 26, 2003 12:58 PM UTC
Hey all!
Very unexpectedly we (irisbe & diamonddog) are having our friends Sargentjeff (Jeff) and Sapere (Mariangela) visiting for a couple of days.

We have seen a nice documentary about Utrecht, in which it was called "little Amsterdam".

so we decided to go there this coming Sunday, 28th of December.

Has any one good advice what to see there or what to do there that day?
Are there Winterattractions?
Any one knows where to get some good gluehwein or hotchocomilk or wants to join?

Drop a not
we will check this entry till 27th evening!

Utrecht Puff Pastry -where to purchase
Posted: Sun December 14, 2003 04:38 PM UTC
When I arrive in Maarsen for Christmas, I would like to be able to make several desserts that call for puff pastry. In the US, I am able to purchase frozen puff pastry made by Pepperidge Farm. In the past, I have been able to find phyllo dough in the markets, but not puff pastry, often used for making brie en croute and other lovely desserts. Any suggestions of stores that may carry it?
Thank you!

Utrecht Is it really so hard to find a home???
Posted: Thu August 28, 2003 04:46 PM UTC
Hello, my husband will start a Master's Program in Wageningen University in September. We want to travel together with our babies (2 small dogs and a cat). We are now quite dissapointed to hear the university can't help us find a home. Is it really so hard to find an appartment? I will appreciate any advice. Thank you.

Utrecht Travel from Utrecht
Posted: Thu May 22, 2003 01:17 PM UTC
I'm having a holiday in Utrecht in July for 8 days and the friend I was meeting has to work now so I'm on my own. Just wondering whats to see and do in Utrecht and if its worth taking some tours? I want to go to Amsterdam a few times so I guess by train? I'm staying at Hotel Mitland so not in city centre. Any advice would be great.
