Tips for holiday in Malta with 1 1/2 year old son ? Posted: Fri March 28, 2008 11:09 AM UTC
Hello,
does anyone have tips for a holiday to Malta with our son of 1 1/2 year old ? Best beaches to go to ? Playgardens ? experience of stay at Le Meridien St Julians (playgarden at the hotel- food for kids)? Good restaurants with kids ?
Any advise on carrental ? we are considering to book a car only for a few days ? Best do it locally or rather in advance ?
We'll be travelling beginning of September.
Thanks for your help !!!

getting the most of day trip Posted: Fri March 7, 2008 10:38 AM UTC
valletta is one of our cruise ports of call. i'd like info on making the most of my time, i.e. must see places, restaurants. i read there are ferries to the other islands, about 20 minutes each way. any info on fees. is it better to take the bus to locations on malta or walk? where can i get a map of the routes and is there an all day, on/off bus pass?

Less touristy areas & internetconnectivity queies Posted: Mon February 25, 2008 03:17 PM UTC
Hi. My husband & I will be travelling to Malta in APril (from South Africa). We prefer to stay away from the main tourist areas & being close to the sea is not essential. We prefer to stay in a small village and experience ife as the locals live it rather that as the tourists in the resorts. Can anyone suggest a suitable village(somewhere central from where we can explore the rest of the island). Unfortunately it is important fo us to be near a wifi hotspot or have accommodation with broadband access as we do need to keep in touch with our company while away. Any recommendations of places to stay. Self-catering (in an apartment or villa will be best). PLease suggest a good location as well as good acommodation if possible. Thanks Janet

Travelling with my mother Posted: Tue February 5, 2008 02:05 AM UTC
I am travelling to Malta (staying in Qawra)in June 2008, with my healthy and curious mother of 78. However, she is not that agile.
She likes a good time, shopping, scenery and food!
Can anyone recommend good boat/sailing trips, day trips, seafood restaurants ON THE WATER, easy shopping areas.
I think she will be fine taking the local buses - they look easy to navigate!
Look forward to any great tips.
susan.

More locations to get visas for Malta!! Posted: Thu January 24, 2008 03:55 PM UTC
This might not be of help for some people, but it might help some!
I think the Maltese government has signed agreements with the Austrian and Italian governments to allow people from outside the EU, USA, Canada, Aus, NZ etc to apply for visas at their embassies where Malta has no embassy or High Commission.
This document explains where to go:

Boat trip to Sicily - which one? Pozzllo or Catania? Posted: Fri November 30, 2007 11:32 PM UTC
We are going to Malta for two weeks next July and would love tovisit Sicily while we are there.
We will only have 1 day so I guess will only be able to see Pozzallo OR Catania.
We are not too bothered about large cities or shops - we prefer more quaint towns with intersting streets, architecture or places to explore.
Which of these two places wold suit us best?

Luqa Airport to Mellieha Bay....Any sugestions?? Posted: Sat August 18, 2007 01:51 AM UTC
Hi there.
I'm comming to Malta in the beginning of October for the first time. I almost know nothing, only heard that the best sandy beach in Malta is Mellieha bay....is that true?
The other question is, my plane landing in the night and after all the check ins I'll be able to get out of the airport at about 1 am:(. Anybody, please tell me, how to get to Mellieha Bay at this time? I guess, taxi is the only option? Anybody have an idea of approximate price? How far is the airport from there?Does it take long time to travel? Would I be able to get there at all at this time? My 7 y.o. son is comming with me and I would very much appreciate any information regarding that, please.
Look forward to hearing from anybody:)

First Time Posted: Tue July 17, 2007 06:08 PM UTC
Hi! I do not even know where to begin. My husband and I are planning on going to Malta in August. We would like to stay in a nice (3-5-star) hotel, but have no idea where! We are young (20s), no kids, so we would love to spend some time at the beach, do some sightseeing and possibly go to some clubs. I read somewhere that you could go to Sicily from Malta, but since we both will need visa to enter Malta, will we be able to enter Sicily? Anyway, ANY information would be greatly appreciated. THANK YOU!

Holiday for Parents! Posted: Fri July 15, 2005 02:38 PM UTC
Hi all.
My parents are looking to head to Malta for a week or so, probably in September of this year. They are both in their 60s and would like to stay in a resort that has a fair few restaurants etc, but not so much of the 'younger' night life, as I'm sure you can appreciate!! Can anyone say if Sept is a good time to visit, and recommend a resort for them?
Any other useful info would be useful as well.
Thanks in advance,
Ian H
