I'd like to visit Skopje from London but flights tend to be expensive - is there anywhere I can fly to instead ie. somewhere that a budget airline flies and then get a train to Skopje from there?

Also what are the options for going to Athens from Skopje by train? Is this safe for a lone woman or two lone women?

Any information would be much appreciated. If anyone can also help me get tickets for a show I plan to go to that would be even better, and feel free to mail me thru the site..

i'm plan ing a trip to the balkans and i wanted to know how can you get from skopje to sarajevo? on train, driving or bus? how long would it take? how difficult would it be to drive? how easy is it to rent a car in skopje? how long of a drive is it?

A friend and I are planning on taking the Balkan rail from Istanbul to Skopje, Macedonia during a trip we are taking in June. I was wondering if anyone had any tips for us or knew how long we should expect this to take?

We are then planning on traveling from Skopje to Greece (in order to take a ferry to Italy). So, I was wondering the same thing, any tips for the train or know how long that trip could take us? Even simply from Skopje to the border? Thank you!

Could anyone recommend a cheap hotel or a hostel in Skopje?

Is it doable/practical to rent a car in Dubrovnik and drive thru Bosnia & Montenegro to Skopje and then return to Dubrovnik thru Albania (Tirana or Shkoder)???? Is the weather for such a trip okay in October?? Any hotel suggestions in Skopje, Tirana, Shkoder and Podgorica (Titograd)??? Any other hints would be appreciated. Gene

I will be taking a car trip from Skopje to Tirana.
On route I want to go via Tetovo and Ohrid and then west to Albania.(later to Durovnik in Croatia
I have never been to this part of the world.
Any tips, what should not be missed, do and don't do, road condition, all will be highly appreciated.

Hi - planning a trip to Skopje in May 2007 for 3-4 nights. Looking for a hotel which is central (does that rule out Aleksandar Palas?) and quiet. Is there much difference between Holiday Inn / Bristol / Best Western? Prefer not to stay in a "chain" but not sure what my options are. Price not an issue.

We are going to spend a half a day in Skopje. Our bus is coming from
Dubrovnik in early morning and we are leaving for Ohrid later that day.

Are there separate bus stations for international/domestic lines,
or they are both at the same place? How far is it from the city center?

Is it advisable to book bus tickets for Ohrid a day in advance (early August)?

Are there any lockers at the bus stations, or something similar, as we
would like to leave our baggage while we are strolling through Skopje?

this is quite a long question so not sure if could be answered, but here goes anyway..

I want to go to Ohrid on the 19th of August and spend 4 nites. After this travel to Belgrade and spend 3 nites. Then to Banja Luka and spend 2 nites and then to Mostar and spend 2 nites and finally to Split. I need to be in Split on the 30th of August.

Does anyone know how long the journeys will take between each stop and if there are buses in each town.
