Where can I get, preferably on line a decent street map of Skopje Macedonia, google is no where sharp enough every time that i have entered Skopje after leaving the Motorway from Serbia I get lost

I will be in Greece next month and wanted to visit Skopje from Kalampaka. It seems that there is a bus to Thessaloniki. How do I go to Skopje from there? How long does it take? My only options are bus/train as I do not want to take taxis.

Also, I would like to know how far away Ohrid is from Skopje and how to get there.

I have been on the Skopje Bus Station website but the link to the English translation of the timetable doesn't work.

This is what I need to know

1. On a Thursday, what time doe the buses leave Skopje bus station to Pristina?

2. If the bus leaves at say 9am, what time do we need to arrive at the bus station?

3. Will we need to buy the tickets the day before or can we just turn up and get them?

4. Can we take luggage on the bus?

5. Is it a straightforward process getting the ticket, or will we need to learn some Russian?

I need to make a trip from Skopje to either Pristina or Tirana to the airports there and was looking for the fastest/easiest route.

This summer (2009) I will be traveling to Macedonia.

For this purpouse I'd like very much to know the return prices for train ticket to Ljubljana. I know there is an international train through Serbia but I can't find it.

Unfortunately the macedonian railway's page is only in Macedonian, so I don't understand it at all.

Can anyone please tell me the schedule of this train and its prices?

Planning to go by train from Skopje to Kalambaka, Greece. According to the Bahn Europe website, a train leaves Skopje at 7:20am and arrives in Kalambaka at 3:30pm.

My question is whether it is possible to buy a ticket in Skopje all the way to Kalambaka -- or if it will be necessary to buy the ticket to Thessaloniki, and then buy the onward train ticket to Kalambaka there?

I'll be travelling by train to Kosovo this Easter. The only way to do that is from Skopje. Which means I will unfortunately have to spend 8 hours in Skopje on my way to Kosovo and 12 hours on my way back, between the night trains Beograd-Skopje and the IC trains Skopje-Fushė Kosovė. How on Earth do you spend 8 + 12 hours in Skopje?

We have a group of 5 students enrolling for their Masters Degree in Tourism from the University in Cameroon. They are hoping to write a project linking Africa and Europe, but taking keen interest in the Ancient places of that has made history for the centuries. Therefore based on this reason we have carefully selected Macedonia to be the first point of visit, to learn and discover the rich history that has made this country a special one over the centuries.

We therefore need assistance in arranging this visit which is due for later January 2009.

Train and bus leave at 07.55 and 07.00 which is not so desirable for Sunday morning wakeup.

I would like to travel from Thessaloniki to Skopje on a Friday evening and return from Skopje to Thessaloniki on a Sunday morning (i mean to leave Skopje around 10 in the morning to be in thessaloniki at noon or early afternoon).

Does anyone know any public or private bus company that has these routes?

i'll be travelling into skopje (to stay for a while) sometime mid september. i've booked a plane ticket to salonika/solun and would like to travel further by bus, 'cos i saw there are 2 that go to skopje in the evening. but there was no way to find where exactly in solun they leave :(

I had been planning to travel from Skopje to Thessaloniki airport on the morning of Monday September 8th. The only way I can find to do this is by a train that seems to run only once a day. However this arrives at Thessaloniki station at just after 13:00. My flight is at 14:45 so the train is leaving things to close for comfort. I have used a weblink for Skopje bus station to see if there is a bus but there doesn't seem to be. Does anyone have any advice on this please?

iam coming over for the macedonia v scotland football match.i am really looking forward to visit skopje.for the pictures+review of the place i cant wait.going back to the title of the post i was wondering if someone in skopje could get me tickets for the game because i wont get in scotland.i will of course pay for the ticket(s)+small reward if they could manage it would be appreciated

Hi - I'm coming to work in Skopje (can't wait!) and my daughter and son will visit in late August. What kind of things can they do? My son is particularly interested in an outdoor pool near the city centre and running. My daughter will hire a car and do some trips or take bus tours. Of course, they are both interested in night life! Will they be able to go to clubs at their age? They don't really drink, but will they be able to buy a drink on their own?

An earlier post mentions the Scotland football match on 6th September...

It looks like about 2,000 Scotland fans will travel to Skopje for this game but we are told that we are only being given 1,000 tickets.

In Skopje, is the bar/cafe culture designed for fans travelling to watch sports events?

Have you any idea whether the locals will sell tickets to visiting fans?

Are there any major cultural differences that we need to be aware of? You can imagine that most fans will be travelling for a 3 day beer-fest.

According to this there are only 2 buses per day. However when I was there in 2007 I seem to remember there were lots more buses than that. Does anyone have any info they can help with please?

I am planning to travel from Skopje to Sofia on July 4th (great way to spend the 4th of July!!). Are there direct buses? Will I have to change buses? If so, where? Travel times between the 2 cities? If it's a long journey, are there night buses? Would appreciate any information and suggestions.

What is the best way to get from Athens to skopje? I looked at flights last night and found one for $250USD and it was direct. Today when I went to book it was $1000USD and no direct flights were found? Any help would be appreciated. My end destination is Bitola.

Hi! Are there any 3,4 or 5 star hotels near Skopje airport? I'm spending 1 night in Stonebridge Hotel first, then I'm driving to Ohrid for 2 nights, and then back to Skopje via Krushevo. I'm catching a plane very early the morning after, and I was thinking of avoiding Skopje downtown and sleep in a hotel near the airport, but I can't find any. Any suggestions?

Please recommend some local Website(s) that list prices for renting long term Room, flat in Skopje.

Anyone stayed in either? They seem okay from the website offer, but I haven't found any reviews.
