How difficult is it to travel from Paris to Bretagne by coach/bus and the name of the coach line operators would be a great help. Arriving at Gare du Nord on in December and am trying to link up with a coach. Calais stop proving to be expensive on the dates we wish to travel. Any suggestions would be a great help. Thankyou.
travel time Posted: Sat October 17, 2009 11:02 AM UTC
hello we are planning to drive from Paris to the Normandy region. we wish to visit the D-Day beaches & museums, Rouen, Caen,Mont St Michel, St Malo and travel to the Brittany region taking in the Rose granite coast area, Rennes & markets also.
We plan to book 2 nights in each region with a few days free in between. That way we can pace ourselves, staying longer or somewhere else on the way if we need extra time.
We don't want to miss the charm of the area but are travelling on a budget so any suggestions on roughly how long we will need to see these areas properly.
We are continuing on to Limogues,Bordeaux, Dordogne,Pyrenees, Carcossonne and the Provence & Monaco region before driving up to Luxembourg.
We are looking at three and a half weeks in total, and plan to revisit the area sometime in the future.
Does this amount of time seem doable?? thanks for all suggestions. A&K
Concarneau Posted: Mon September 7, 2009 11:09 AM UTC
Going to Brittany tomorrow and, although I know there will be super places to eat, if anyone has a really good recommendation for Concarneau (we are staying at Plougastel St Germain) or any other port on that coast, it will be much appreciated. Mad about seafood!
Dear all,
I plan to travel to Bretagne this august.
I have never been there. I have just one question - do you think is there possible also to swimm in the sea, or it is in general too cold over there.
If yes do you have some nice tips?
thanks

i am traveling from rennes train station to la meziere. what is the best transportation do you recommend? i know the cab will be very pricey and the bus might not let me on with a 22 kg suitcase. any suggestions?
I am visiting Belle Isle on 22nd of September this year with 3 other people ( 1 10 year old child included) does anybody have any tips/suggestions on how to visit and get around the island?? We are planning on catching the ferry from Vannes???
We only have the day and would really like to see the wild coast area in particular...
Any tips or suggestion would be most welcome. I am also looking for affordable accommodation on or around the area..
I have seen the timetable for a bus to the Mont St. Michel from Rennes. But it shows only upto August 30. I will be in Rennes on September 29 around 10:30 in the morning. Will there be a bus to go the Mont?
I want to come back to Rennes next morning to catch a train to Paris around 11 am. Will there be a bus which will bring me back to catch that train ?
What will be the weather around that time of the year? What is the best spot to photograph the Mont at sunset or sunrise?
does anyone know of a taxi company who speak english and can collect me from st malo ferry and take me to Plourmel..1hr journey south and return journey...thank you chrissy x
I will be in st malo in July for a long weekend. I am looking for restaurant recommendations, not low end but not super expensive....any where we can get the real taste of Brittany. Will have car so dont need to limit to only within st malo.
During my French trip want to plan a 4 day break in Bretagne. (Looked some tourist websites already: Saint Lunaire, Binic, Paimpol, Peros Guirec...? and i am confused). Perhaps some tips where to relax and swimm at scenic beach. I prefer Nature not overcrowded places.

Hello,
I fly in to Rennes on Saturday 15th august 2009 at 19.00 hrs. Is there a bus that I may take from the airport to Auray that evening or the next day?
We have three spare days after our Visit to Mt St Michel, 4 ladies travelling (I'm in charge, so I want to impress) would you recommend to stay in Rennes, Lemans or Chartres for these days, which is prettier or has a nice atmosphere? It will be early August...

I'm planning to go to Vannes for 3 days and travel from there to Quiberon and Carnac. Can you please advise what's the cheapest way to do it? A bus? For ex, in Rennes you can take a bus form about 3 euros to St Malo, Dinard, Dinan, etc. So I'm looking for something similar.. Thanks!!!
I have two days in Brest and I need some advice on how to get the best out of my visit. I want to see beautiful sandy beaches and natural beauty. I won't be driving. Please can you recommend something spectacular?
SINCE THE WEBSITE TO RESERVE FERRY SPACE IS IN FRENCH ("ENGLISH COMING SOON" NOTICE A YEAR OLD), WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO RESERVE PASSENGER ONLY SPACE IN SEPTEMBER? WE MUST HAVE PREVIOUS RESERVATIONS TO INFORM OUR HOTEL FOR PICK UP AT THE PIER.
We plan to visit Brittany for the first time in September 09 (a big birthday celebration, needs lots of advance planning because our guests will be coming from Australia, New York, and the UK). I'd like to find a house in or near a large, interesting town, so that we can easily get to a lovely restaurant for the birthday dinner, and also so that our guests will have plenty to do and see on either side of the birthday.
My research indicates St Malo or Dinan, or alternatively the Quimper/Vannes area. But I haven't had much luck finding accommodation except for gites (too isolated and too small). A hotel/B&B is not an option, as we will be there for 2-3 weeks. I am currently looking at houses for rent but can't get much idea from the Internet of their exact location or surroundings.
I have two questions: (1) Which of those towns (if any) would be the best base for a holiday for people who've never been to Brittany and will want to see as much of it as possible? (2) Is it actually realistic to try to find a large house to rent in or near one of those towns, or should I just go for a large gite instead and accept that we will have to drive to the restaurant?
Your comments and experience will be gratefully received.
There is a pleasent and quite cheap hotel overlooking the sea in the centre of Roscoff. I thought it was called 'Les Pyramides' or something like that but I can't find it thru Google. I have stayed there before but just can't remember what it's called.
Can anyone help?
