Kaunas location of relatives on mother's side
Posted: Fri October 9, 2009 04:48 AM UTC
I might want to visit relatives of my mother who came from a small village south of Kaunas. Her name was Agneska Kazakievicius, born around 1887, probably in a village called Gaulakrecius. Is there such a village and are any of her relatives still living there? She came to the USA about 1907.

Kaunas A one day trip from Kaunas to Siauliai- is it possible?
Posted: Wed October 7, 2009 10:56 PM UTC
Hello,

I am going to Kaunas next week for work purposes
Unfortunately I am not staying long and I only got 2 days of my own to visit around
I saw this place on the internet called " The Hill of Crosses" and it sounds interesting

Is there a bus or a train that goes there from Kaunas to Siauliai to make round trip in one day? I know it is far, but I am willing to go very early

Thanks

Kaunas How far is Riga from Kaunas?
Posted: Thu October 11, 2007 01:13 AM UTC
I'm going to Riga, and I would like to visit Kaunas as well. I would like to know how far apart the cities are. About how long should it take me to drive from Riga to Kaunas. Is there a rail connection between the two cities?

Thanks!

Kaunas Kaunas - Riga bus

Labas!
I will need to travel to Riga and would like to ask Kaunas insiders about bus connections from Kaunas to Riga about 5 pm (Warsaw via Sestokai train arrives at 4:28 pm). The Kautra webpage does not show detailed schedule nor prices.
I will be thankful for the assistance in that matter,
Marcin

Kaunas new years eve
Posted: Fri November 3, 2006 09:14 PM UTC
Hi,

I will be in Kaunas from 28/12/06 to 02/01/07 with some friends (2 male/1 female).

I have a few questions. Firstly where would be a good place to go at night to see in the new year? Also i haven't booked accomodation yet, so any suggestions are much appreciated. Do you think that it is worth hiring a car as I would like to at least go to vilnius and some other places, or is the public transport system good?

Kind regards

Shen.

Kaunas what can i do in kaunas in november?
Posted: Wed September 20, 2006 01:11 PM UTC
hello people of kaunas, i will be traveling to see your country with 7 friends of mine in early november. anyway, is there anything you would recomend for me to do in the daytime? im there from saturday morning untill tuesday night and like to see things during the day. i dont mind a trip to vilnius (how would i get here? bus, train or taxi?), seeing any sights that are in kaunas, maybe catching a football match, or any museum of the old soviet era, or any monuments you are proud of. any help would be nice and every suggestion will be noted.

at night i hope to visit some nice bars and clubs, but would imagine that sunday night may not be too busy. anyway, do you recommend any good bars and clubs that are visitor friendly? i dont mind mixing with locals anywhere and always will, but dont want to end up in the wrong club! any local food you recommend i try?

Kaunas Kaunas to Nida by hydrofoil
Posted: Tue July 18, 2006 08:46 PM UTC
Hello VT members and friends,

I will be travelling around Lithuania in August. I have just read in a few guide books that there is a hydrofoil connection between Kaunas and Nida along the Nemunas river.

Does anybody of you have any information about this hydrofoil trip (timetable, fares etc.). Maybe there is even a website???

Thanks for your help

I'm thinking of coming to Kaunas for a few days in the middle of December. Is this a good time of year to visit the city? Are there any special events on? Can someone give me an idea of what Kaunas will be like at that time of year.

Kaunas IX Fort in Kaunas
Posted: Sat April 30, 2005 02:16 AM UTC
How far is the famous IXth Fort from Kaunas? Can you walk there from the city centre or is there a bus?
IXth Fort is one of the reasons that I want to visit Kaunas. Actually, is there Emmanuel Levinas` Museum or at least a commemorative plaque where he was born?

Thanks for the info.

There used to be a ferry on the Niemen (Nemunas) river between Kaunas and the the coast of Neringa (Silute?). It was interrupted some years ago. Has it come back into operation today? If yes, what are the timetables and prices?

Thanks
