Urgent (departing today!):Studios in Lindos - do they provide towels and bedding? (Afroditi Studios) Posted: Tue July 1, 2008 01:29 PM UTC
This might seem like a stupid question, but do low-ish cost studios in Lindos provide towels and bedding, or are you expected to bring them with you?
If anyone can give any guidance that'd be great - Travel agent thinks so, but hasn't got back to me to give a definite answer...though VTers would be able to come to my rescue!

50th Birthday Present revisited Posted: Mon June 2, 2008 04:37 PM UTC
I just wanted to thank everyone in the forum who gave me advice last year about traveling to Rhodes for my wife's 50th birthday. We'll we didn't make it until her 51st birthday but we did this past May and had a brilliant time, absolutely fantastic. We didn't want to come home. Unfortunately, jobs and kids got the best of us! So thanks for all the help! Can't wait to go back! Gene

West coast accomodation Posted: Mon June 2, 2008 01:38 PM UTC
Hello,
My boyfriend and I are coming to Rhodes in July to kitesurf, visit the island & sleep off the stress of the city. Does anyoneone know where we can find an appartment, B&B, small hotel on the west coast (far enough South not to be in the line of the airport)?
Up in the hills would also be great.
Thank you, Claire

Ferry from Marmaris Turkey to Rhodes Island in Greece Posted: Fri April 18, 2008 02:44 PM UTC
I am travelling from Marmaris Turkey to Limassol or Paphos Cyprus. It looks like there is no transport directly between Marmaris and Limassol/Paphos so I am thinking of going by ferry to Rhodes Island in Greece and head to Cyprus from there. Please let me know if this is a good idea or do you have any other suggestions. Thanks for your help.

Accommodation in Rhodes - Advice Requested Posted: Mon April 14, 2008 11:32 PM UTC
Will be in Rhodes for 3 nights first few days of October, looking for good 3 star accommodation, in old town or walking distance, no preference as to large or small hotel, B&B, but must be clean, nice bathroom and quiet after 10pm. Local character would be a bonus and view, does not have to be sea view, could be old city etc.
Air conditioning might be essential at that time of year?
Have seen a few reviews & recommendations on the following:
Mediterranean Hotel
City Center Rhodes Town
The Pink elephant Pension
Best Western Plaza Hotel
Your comments and recommendation will be appreciated.

Santorini to Rhodes - Ferry or Air? Posted: Mon April 14, 2008 11:18 PM UTC
We have 8 days in Greece arriving 28th September & departing 6th October, really 6 days after late arrival Athens and departure to Australia on last day.
Intend to fly to Santorini for 2 nights and then 3 nights Rhodes before flying back to Athens for 2 nights.
Does the hydrofoil run from Santorini to Rhodes daily?
How long will the trip take, and is it possible that the ferry might cancel due to weather etc?
Are there daily direct flights Santorini to Rhodes and how long is flight. I think flying would be best but that would mean we would not do any "Island Hopping" by ferry during our visit. Perhaps we could do a day trip to Kos from Rhodes and get our "Ferry Fix". Any web pages with Sept/Oct timetables?
All responses will be appreciated

Ferry problems, again! Posted: Sat March 15, 2008 12:01 AM UTC
Hey all I will be travelling in Greece this June and I have again run into a snag with my ferry routes. I will be in Kos from June 13 to June 16, leaving then for Rhodes. But there is apparently no ferries that run @ normal times between Kos and Rhodes. I thought this was supposed to be an extremely popular route. Any suggestions on what to do?

Lindos Posted: Sat February 23, 2008 12:02 PM UTC
My friend and I have booked a weeks holiday to Lindos in June this year. I'm really excited and was wondering whether anyone had and tips or advice for making the most of our time. Also, does anyone know how much a taxi would cost between Rhodes town and Lindos, or whether there are any boat trips there for an evening. Also, are Greek dancing evenings easy to find in Lindos? Is it going to be a very expensive holiday? We're both 18, but not looking for the nightlife of Faliraki or Kavos etc. Does Lindos have a good nightlife (not crazy clubbing - just a good atmosphere!)?
Thanks in advance if anyone can help,
Amy

Cosmos Maris studios Lardos Posted: Sun February 17, 2008 02:49 PM UTC
Has anyone stayed in these studios? If so could you tell me, do they have electric kettles and teapots? We British like our morning cuppa, and much better if a kettle is available. Also anything else you can tell me about these studios and apartments would be appreciated. Have stayed in Lardos a few years ago and enjoyed it. The Cosmos Maris probably not even built then, but they look very nice. Thankyou for any info you can give.

Rhodes_Weather in May and June Posted: Wed November 14, 2007 06:34 AM UTC
Hi everyone!
With so much to recommend in Rhodes there appears to be a nagging problem with temperatures during summer months - there are many reports about the heat. May and September seem to be the best months - September even more so because the sea water is probably warmer than in it is May because it warms over the summer months.
The sea water may be cold in May. On the other hand,in June the air temperature is probabaly uncomfortably high!
What about early June?
Or is September the only month when both air and sea temperatures are at their best?
Regards

Hotels in Rhodes Town - Noisy? Posted: Tue October 16, 2007 03:15 PM UTC
My wife and I would like to stay in Rhodes Town next summer but one report we read said that kids on motor scooters created a lot of noise at nights, and were a general nuisance.
We expect a town to be busier at night than a beach resort, but don't mind within reason.
What do others think?
Should we avoid the town and opt for a resort instead? Or is the lively atmosphere worth a little extra noise?

Rhodes landscape_ green areas? Posted: Sun October 7, 2007 06:45 AM UTC
Rhodes landscape_ green areas?
Hi!
There appears to be much to recommend Rhodes including the Old Town, other sites with historical monuments and also the beaches. Seeing the photos, though, I get the impression of a landscape which is barren in many parts. Is greenery a rarity in Rhodes and if so, there must be something in the landscape which attracts visitors to this island.
Any observations please? Regards

PLS HELP, looking for a name of a shop in Trianda... Posted: Tue September 25, 2007 02:14 PM UTC
I’m looking for the name of a liquor shop, located in Trianda (Rhodes Island). I’ll try to explain its exactly location now:
So, if you are on the beach in Trianda (or Ialissos – it’s the same), where the Magic Life Hotel is, and you follow that straight street that goes to the center (i.e. the town-hall), you’ll eventually reach the crossroad (the only one with traffic lights), continue straight ahead (pass by the Police Station on the corner), and enter into the “village” (that’s how it’s called, with lots of houses around; I think that’s the oldest part of Trianda). You continue forwards, pass by the square (on the right side), and somewhere at the end of that square, there are several small shops on the left (just after them there’s a tiny cross-street on the left, going into number of houses; I think there might be public toilets too…). As far as I can remember, the place must be just before the church (on the right of the main street). So, the small shops I’ve mentioned above – that’s what I’m looking for! Specifically, two of them: the one is a Liquor Shop, and they sell different kinds of bottled alcohol there, and the other is a Spices Shop, where they sell spices. I’m not sure, but the shops might be linked (a common door or a joining door, or something… but not sure!).
And now I would ask you all, if someone of you goes sooner or later to Rhodes, and visits Trianda (Ialissos), or is already there, if you have 15 minutes spare time, WOULD YOU PLEASE GO TO THOSE SHOPS AND SEE HOW THEY ARE CALLED?... Both of the shops or any of them...
I would appreciate that information, million thanks in advance!!!

Rhodes in October - weather & best place to stay Posted: Sun September 9, 2007 08:58 PM UTC
We're thinking about going to Rhodes on Oct 12 for a week & have a few questions:
1. Is weather likely to be hot(tish) then & much likelihood of rain?
2. We're interested in exploribg the historical sights a.m. & going on the beach p.m.- so is Rhodes town definitely the place to be -or is the island so small that we could stay at Lindos or some other place & visit Rhodes town & other sites.
3. I've read that Rhodes town is a bit windy so would it be better to stay at Lindos or some other place on the east coast to enjoy the beach & vist Rhodes town a.m.?
4. At that time of year is Rhodes town the best place to be since the season is winding down (for restaurant availability etc.)
4. Is public transport good enough or is it preferable to rent a car for at least 3 days?
Look forward to receiving replies
Thanks

Rhodes International Airport Posted: Thu August 9, 2007 02:05 AM UTC
Does this airport have locker facilities? I will be traveling through Rhodes with about a 6 -7 delay between the time my ferry arrives from Turkey and the time my flight leaves from the airport, and I want to stow my luggage and venture out into the city with as little baggage as possible. Any suggestions as to what the best way to achieve that would be?
