Our cruise ship will be at Katakolon, Greece port on June 12. Would rather hire private guide and transportation instead of cruise ship excursion to see Olympia - ruins etc...Can anyone help?

Arriving by cruise ship and want to go to Olympia by bus or cab - how far is it? are there a lot of cabs? is bus better? how long does it take?

We will be in Katakolon for a day from a cruise. From all that I can research, Katakolon seems to have really nothing to see.
If I want to plan my own trip instead of joining the cruise's excursion, is it possible to have a DIY trip? How is the transportation there? Also I read people mentioning a place call Pyrgos, is it worth going too? Thanks for any information in advance. |
